I know that’s going to make me the least popular person of the day – but if I were running in a popularity contest I’d have already won all the medals, so nowhere to go but forward.

Seriously, I Love Orr – it’s breathtakingly beautiful, so atmospheric, full of that sense of history and loss. Everywhere I go I find myself stopping to just take in the epic scope and weight of it all. Whether on land or water I spend so much time gawking that half the time I don’t notice the monsters until they jump on my back.

And, yeah, people are going to complain there are TONS of undead … but either they’ve toned them down a bit lately or I’m just getting a lot better at avoiding ‘em, because I really haven’t noticed them as much in the last few weeks.

Orr just feels like you’re walking in the footprints of the gods when you adventure there. In a game so packed with beautiful landscapes, Orr takes the cake, and – for me – was a real nice reward for making it to 80th level. (months ago)

I like Orr a lot in the context of it being a trinity of zones you don’t try to tackle alone. I think the biggest problem with Orr has nothing to do with Orr itself but stems from the main ‘negative’ of the game in general at this point – lack of alternative content.

I have about 20 screenshots in my Guild Wars 2 screenshot folder. 15 of them are from Orr. Never has a location in an MMO been such a combination of epic, huge, haunting, frightening, and atmospheric. Not since Netherstorm in WoW or Seratos in the Rift expansion have I been this amazed.

I run around Orr alone all the time … I don’t do any of the events by myself because that’s crazy talk. But I love just exploring and digging at every corner of it – finding places I can sneak into or climb onto that I wasn’t really supposed to even go and get some really great views for the trouble.

I jump around alot, though. If I get bored with any area, I just pop off to another map and spend a few days there instead; the down-leveling thing makes that pretty easy. I see where people get sick of any zone after they’ve spent too much time in it, but I’ve never seen the point in sticking to a zone once it starts to feel like a job … I’ve got a job and it pays me – I’m not going to pay a game to let me sit at a cubicle for 6 hours hating my life. (which is pretty much why I’d never pay a subscription for a game either … but these days you don’t have to worry about that much in mmos)

I like Orr a lot because the map is very detailed and lives up to the lore.

People seem to forget that the whole island of Orr was underwater. It’s nice seeing all the seaweed and other underwater organisms that show that it was recently brought up

I believe they did thin out the undead herd in a past update. I don’t visit Orr that often so I don’t mind it when I do.

I have no problem with Orr. Some places look really nice there.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

I really enjoy it, too. It’s beautiful in a dark way. Some of the ruins take my breath away, and the giant corals and other indications it was just recently under water are wonderfully alien.

Then again, I don’t spend a great deal of time there trying to farm karma or resource nodes, and I play professions that are pretty good at avoiding mobs whenever I want.

Visually, I agree Orr is very nice. I’ve always been a fan of undersea creatures / landscapes, and Orr captures the look of a place thats been sunk in the sea for centuries very well.

I have my gripes about the place gameplay-wise, but visually I can’t really complain much. It looks nice and has a grand scope to it.

The problem with Orr is not the number of mobs, but the combination of number of mobs and the stupid amount of cc they have. Taking control away from the player is such bad game design. The enjoyment of playing in Orr is so much lower than the rest of the maps despite the unique landscape.

Does Orr have a great landscape? Yes. Will it be even better without the stupid amount of mobs with cc? Absolutely.

I wonder.

Are people frustrated by mob CC running around in zerker kill-everything-as-fast-as-possible max-magic-find builds/gearsets? Or are they packing some defenses against CC and conditions?

I don’t tend to change much between WvW and running around in the open world, so I’m wondering if that’s why I don’t have that much trouble in Orr.

I’m a Thief – always – and when I’m in Orr I tend to go Pistol/Pistol Stealth, with Ambush and Thieves’ Guild – item wise I’m proc’ed for condition damage – and mostly do pretty well. I don’t go looking to farm, though, (not my thing) so some areas are probably worse than others depending …

Too bad it isn’t more rewarding to farm the whole thing.
