I am extremely offended and disappointed with what I am seeing here. My friend, who happens to have a female Asura, put on their new armor set. I viewed the set on the Asura and my Norn was nothing but ashamed. There is BLATANT NUDITY with this armor set and most likely some others due to negligence on Arena Net’s part. Last I checked, there was no full on nudity warnings with Guild War 2’s ESRB rating and I demand that something be done. Not for my sake, but for the community. This could also be considered degrading to females because it forces female Asura to wear male Asura clothing, as to say that they have no choice in the matter, even if it does cause nudity. I’m disappointed Arena Net, I had more faith in you. You had my trust, but it’s starting to slip. I think it’s time to step up your game.

Asura anatomy is different than humans and their ‘bits’ are different than ours, obviously. It would be a lot worse if you went to a farm, those cows don’t wear underpants man.

Ahh not sure if this is a kitten take or what but have you explored the possibilty that the female asura has nipples like that of a cow or something like that? Yes it may offend but thats if you see this make beleif race to have the same anatomically developed bodies?

That said, some of the armor in the game is way too revealing for my tastes, but I just use a transformation crystal on those to get the stats I wanted and keep my better looking outfits. I’m running around with starter armor with end game stats because I like the look, and anything I wear, I wear for the appearance. (I probably have a dozen different armor outfits and most of those with stats I plucked from armor whose look I didn’t like.)

Me, I would rather just have more armor choices overall … if that means we have to get some fantasy babe armor in order to get some nice outfits too, I’ll live with it. Nobody is forcing us to wear the armor. (though trust me, I’ve been frustrated when buying what looks like a great piece of armor on a guy only to find out it’s underwear on a girl)

Mammals feed by their mothers milk, and knowing that their anatomy is extremely similar to humans, they do have a need for nipples, and they should be there. Most Asura characters also only live up until 20 due to lab mishaps, meaning that the Asura character is younger than that. Dogs and cats are animals in the wild in real life. Charr are unique animals, and they have fur, but they also have equipment to cover what their fur cannot. The Asura have no fur, and they are NOT real animals of the wild, and as such they are expected to wear clothing and to cover up all of their FULL ON NAKED PARTS until an ESRB rating change is made to the game.

And technically, there are no nipples on any characters at all, so I guess nobody is human, since without nipples they’re not mammals and therefore not human. Pretty sure the ESRB would still make a big deal if you could walk your character around naked anyway in what is supposed to be a T rated game.

Official biology says that they give birth like mammals. Reptiles lay eggs.

Also, reptiles are cold blooded. The Asura naturally live underground. This means that the Asura couldn’t be reptiles since full on life underground would kill a cold blooded reptile.

Ummm they are still different species. They have live births, but no breasts showing. So, if the chest region is not a “sensitive” area culturally speaking, then the clothing is not offensive. It’s like being offended because an intelligent species like say, a krait, has the chest region showing.

No idea, didn’t play guild wars one much.

But then again, were there any topless asura in GW1? If not, that’s just more evidence that this is lazyness on part of the modeling department rather than a design decision concerning sexual dichotomy in asuran culture and/or biology. And what would Ben Miller think about this when compared to how he designed the asura and what he intended for them as a race? Did he imagine them being gender neutral? If so, why wasn’t it reflected in his designs?

It is more and more concerning because it really does seem to be lazyness on the part of the modeling department. What concerns me the most is that they would allow this type of pornography to avoid making a few extra models to cover up the proper areas.
