So today the monthly reset, and now I’ve decided I’ve had enough.

WHY ARE WE ALWAYS BEING FORCED TO DO EVENTS? Your kittening events are the bane of my existence! They’re all the god kitten same- kill this, escort this, collect this, capture this point.

And as someone who doesn’t do much WvW besides the jump puzzle because it’s a complete lag fest/3 fps slideshow on my computer, I actually have to go looking for events -__-

Earlier when the game came out and events were the main source of karma, I decided I wasn’t getting a legendary, because I refused to do so many events. Then liquid karma came out, and I easily got around the 2 stacks of obby shards required for the gift of mastery/clovers.

What happened to the changes you said would be implemented here?

“… a system that lets you complete a subgroup of achievements to fulfill your daily … if there are 6 daily achievements available, you’ll only need to do 4 of the 6 … choose the achievements that you’re most interested in.”

Since the January 28th patch, the daily has changed every day, but EVENTS ARE ALWAYS INCLUDED! WHY? I am not “INTERESTED” in doing events.

And now this month someone had the BRIGHT IDEA to pair 100 events with 500 salvages for the monthly.

I thought you people wanted to eliminate as much grind as possible in this game?

The only thing you are consistent about is not following up on what you’ve written in the past and thinking you need to force people to play the game how you want them to play it!

Honestly I am tired of the Heart Quest more than anything in the game. I rather have a zone like Orr for low levels to play in rather than Heart grind.

Well, I don’t want to presume what you do in the game if you don’t do events, or WvW.

Dungeons? There are events in those, some dungeons have 2-3 events each.
SPvP? Well in that case, you don’t need to care about events.
Farming? Hmm, I guess if all you do is farm, you should try and relocate to an event farming spot. Frostgorge and Orr have some decent ones.

I feel like I lag much more during events like in Orr then I do in w3. I get a one second stall once in awhile in w3 because there’s no particle effect scaling but other then that the only time I lag out there is in the form of skills not activating during a 3 way stone mist grab. I wasn’t a fan of pve to begin with but those events in Orr scarred me for life.

Seriously you felt the need to post this? Events are the main draw of GW2 and having them in the dailies and monthlies encourages people to travel to different maps. If you get bored of Orr events go elsewhere. There are plenty of interesting and varied DEs in the game and saying “I dont like DEs” is like saying “I dont like food”. DEs are the opposite of grinding because you dont have to do the same one multiple times.

As for the ‘choosing 4/6 events’ that will be introduced next patch, this has been said many times on these forums.

You could’ve done like 5 events in the time it took to type that rant.

dude, everything on this game is the same. dont blame the events.

This is very odd, how do you even play this game without doing events? I mean what do you actually do? When you go in a dungeon there’s 2-3 events right there, when you do WvW there’s a tonne of events, when you’re farming orr you’re basically just grinding events and when you’re levelling events are pretty much unavoidable and also the fastest way to level a character.

I’m not sure if this is clever satire. I’m wondering what you actually do in this game apart from sit in LA/DR and idle, at which point I don’t think you deserve your monthly because you’re not actually doing anything. Care to clarify?

I do not get monthlies at all.

I do not do dungeons. Yet month after month the “requirement” for it is: Do a dungeon…in fact here, do FIVE.

I easily do events. I easily salvage 500 items I easily harvest nodes, I easily craft things. I easily revive people. etc. etc.

I just do not do dungeons or pvp or wvw. I like PVE and open world.

So, I do not get monthlies.

When you are lvl 80 there is no reason to ever go back to lower lvl zones so you have 3 zones worth going to for gathering and events.

Wayfarer Hills is your zone. Just by roaming and doing events 24/7 you can level faster than going everywhere and doing hearts/exploration, especially after they added a few new events.

Just doing the Maw is half a level.

Take care of Maw = 6 events
Go up north to the Dome = 4 events
Between those two while waiting is a series of wurm events = 3 events
And the escort slightly south of the Dome and north of the wurm chain.

Those all happen pretty regularly and are easy to run. My elementalist has pretty much leveled at least once an hour through there.

You may as well boil it down to “Playing an MMO requires me to hit a button on my keyboard”. There are many varied stories throughout the game, check it out

The problem is that ‘who force you to do monthly’.

You don’t mandatory to do monthly.

If you don’t wanna do events, just don’t do events, but of course you don’t get monthly which is optional.

I double this statement. I’m seriously laughing pretty hard from the existence of this topic.

I’m a bit tired of th dynamic events systems at it is now, it’s dynamic but still, repeating over and over and over. About the new stories, it’s fine. But I would like to see some new way to interact with the world and not be limited to an event in a X area in a limited time.

This made my day. Thanks, OP, I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.

No one is standing over your shoulder saying “do that monthly, NOW!”. If you want to get a little bonus, then be glad and cherish the easy requests they have. IF you don’t like those requests, dont punch yourself into doing them.

Arenanet should make a game that is just an open field with a single npc. Your character talks to the npc, where you are given a list of items. Each item is free; you only need to select it. Then you spend the rest of your time looking at such item. Every month, there is a new item.

Nevermind, I can already hear the complaints:

“NPC is too far away from where my PC loads. I didn’t pay for this game to have my character walk.”

“I don’t like the outfit the NPC wears. Let players customize it or I’ll quit.”

“This game has too much grind. Why do I have to select each item? My character should start with them all.”

I wonder what some people even bought GW2 for.
