I am done. (+blocking people questions)
People rage in PVP. I just block them if they start whispering me because they couldn’t handle dying.
I cannot tell you how many times I just laughed at someone raging in PvP. I especially like the ones that think they are somehow hurting my feelings by trash talking in PvP. My fave was someone who was on a winning team talking some nonsense, so while they tried to farm the rest of my team near our spawn i skittered around to their Lord. and almost got him down before they wised up and ran back to save him.
In short; ignore the people acting like fools or go out of your way to make them look foolish while in PvP.

Its pvp its part of the fun to throw people off. block and move on o/
Azure Prower: yes, just sorta asking these questions, ‘cause I’m getting to the habit of blocking people. P: Before my block list just consisted gold sellers and am looking to expand it now and wondering if there’s things to beware of (like will I know if I’ve blocked the person in LFG?)
DaWombat: yeah, at some point they are just hilarious with all the raging. : D I’ve been pretty ok with them for few years without much care, but at some point it just gets tiring and boring, same old stuff going on year after year, with the same underlying reasons that they hide their weakness of character with.
It’s the anonymity, without the risk of social consequences the worst (arguably their true nature) comes out in many people.
There’s a really simple solution to this problem.
Get 4 friends, play pvp as a group.
Have not had this issue while PvP’ing ever while doing the above.
Wow, upset because pvpers are toxic – which is rather what pvp is known for, universally.
I feel for you, OP, but only a bit. It’s like someone who got burnt because they decided to use their privates to test if the water is boiling yet.
FWIW,
-there appears to be no upper limit on the block list.
-no, there is no indication that the group you’re about to join has someone on your block list – you have to cross reference.
When it comes to PvP your gonna usally get ether casual’s that are really nice or hard core who rage at noobs. The broken part of GW2 PVP is that they don’t have a good ranking system that lets the skilled veterans be seperated from the new players jumping in just for fun. I would love it if they made ranked play only open to rank 80 players. that way you know your atleast playing with someone that knows what they are doing.

Thanks for the answers!
A little sad about the LFG not showing blocked people though. Could have turned it off for the dungeon.
And not upset, just tired, which tends to happen if you constantly see negativity around you? Atleast I like to think that’s a normal human reaction. And it’s not just pvp, but wvw, dungeons and map chats at bosses. Expect maybe dungeons, I personally kinda like LFG rage folks. P:

From my experience it’s not the ones dying who have the attitude issues.
I dunno… I feel ashamed becouse maby I am one of these evil players…
Like today I was at a capture point and I was attacked by a thief who was named after a skill wich he/she used over and over again outside of the capture point. I was so amused by it so I decided to stay and capture and heal up since the skill didn’t do mutch damage. well after about 30seconds of repeated skill use outside the cap-point I guess the thief got tired and went ballistic and used elit skills and a lot more skills so I was so unprepared and I died. I said on the map chat something like ‘A theif using the same skill over and over again isn’t that good’.
And when I get about 3 or more players against me while we have all capture points I usually go ‘Zerging won’t win you this battle’ but they won today actually and I whent ‘gg blue team’ meaning I may moan and cry as people call it but I always keep it professional in my opinion.
I dunno, it feels kinda good to make people know whats on my mind :P
Oh and I never use foul words.

Afaik:
LFG-Tool won’t show you groups with people from your ignore. So you can’t join their groups via lfg. But they will see your lfgs and can still join your group, you have to votekick them.
After I realized it is usefull to know why someone is on my ignorelist, I recommend making notes. Everyone on my ignore gets a nickname now, for example:
“SPVP “insult quote”"
“WvW teleport cheater”
“Dungeon X Guild Y ragequitter”
If someone got a nickname which is obviously from your ignore you can react (kick him, leave group etc.). Since you don’t see peoples nicknames in PVP you often won’t realize someone is in your/enemy team who is on your ignorelist.
Matchmaking will keep putting you into groups with players from your ignore. So it’s possible to get five matches in a row with someone you already blocked…

I would love the reverse as well, so my group isn’t spawn camped by rank 80 team in unranked arena ._.
If they’re just verbally harassing/trash-talking/cussing you out, I normally just agree with them, block them, and report them for behaving in such a way.
I’ve pretty much left sPvP because of the community, though. GW2 might have one of the friendliest communities as a whole, but the sPvP segment is worse than most other PvP-based games I’ve played.

Just block them and ignore them and move on……don’t let them ruin your fun.
Best of luck to you!
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

‘Zerging won’t win you this battle’
blocked……. : D
… just kidding. : P Those sound pretty neutral to me. The first one is a bit on the grey line, but eh, nothing that bad imo. And a little jabbing here and there kinda fits pvp, it’s just that some people go on full rage kitten or just simply throw personal insults to make themselves feel better. But in general it’s still good to keep in mind insulting others might come haunt you later on in one form or another.

That’s really good info and suggestion, thanks! I’ll remember to nickname them, will make things easier. : )
It’s a bit of shame we don’t have different types of blocking, in most of these cases I wouldn’t mind doing a dungeon (it seems a lot of pvp folks turn into sheep in pve) and vice versa for some other game types. I used to just turn off /say /team /map chats in wvw and pvp, but in general it’s kinda bad for the people who are not kittens and try to make teams work.

I would rather not see LFG ads of anyone I blocked, I don’t want to associate with someone I blocked. That includes teaming up with them in a group, so I’m glad we cannot see blocked people’s advertisements.
Are you sure about that since I have ended up in party with blocked people in lfg
