I noticed this a while ago and I just didn’t think to mention it until now.

The Personal Storylines, they are not as they were before the leveling system changed. Some are missing – like the one with Apatia with the Krait and others are… some totally out of sequence. Like, I am jut now up to killing Zhaitan, but I didn’t go through the Artesian Waters to cleanse Orr and kill the big eye thingy and… ugh… I’m so confused.

Not to mention, Characters that I left off at the original placement of doing Grenth’s temple… that use to be two quests away from the end, and I did it, but had to do Temple of the Forgotten God… again… after I did it already a long time ago. I know I left a lot of my character’s storylines sitting dormant for a while, but I… I’m just having a hard time understanding this. Am I going crazy or… did something happen here?

I use to be a Ritualist and a Paragon in my former life…

Yes. They “fixed” it.

Something did happen, in a feature patch last year.

It’s being addressed – the missing steps are being returned, and the original sequence is being restored. No ETA for when this is happening yet, but I would guess it won’t be too much longer.

Here’s the thread with a dev post about the updates that are coming: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Personal-Story-Restoration-update/4934635

Something happened. They reworked the storyline and ditched those Greatest Fear chapters and rearranged others when they changed how the levels/story work together. Anet has stated they are fixing this, along with giving us a soloable arah story.

I just don’t understand how the feature pack tampered with the storyline quests… unless like Lindelle said, they reworked it, meaning they intended for this to happen or…? Cause now, I’m just… lost. I use to know what direction I was taking based off which path I chose but now… everything is just all bass-ackwards.

Hang on until they re-rework if you can. There’s a sticky up the top about it.

They did intend for it. If you may recall, we used to get one story mission every other level or so until 70-80 when they became more frequent. Anet decided instead to give us entire chapters at 10 level intervals… I guess they thought it would be better? We all had the same sentiment, no one liked it. Newbies, who it was most intended for, could hardly follow the later story. We needed the missing chapter for others to make sense, and some became out of order so that we might do a story that first exposes us to the eye of zhaitan, when we already fought it before, stuff like that. So the community ranted and raved and finally Anet agreed it needed a fix.

The sticked thread said at least 8 weeks before the updates get rolled out, and I believe it was posted on 31st March – today would be 8 weeks to the day from that post. No guarantee it’ll be in the next patch, but could be any time now.

Before the feature patch, you got the next story step every 2-3 levels. They moved the steps so they appeared in groups every 10 levels, with each group being a complete chapter of the story. The problem was, the story in Orr didn’t split nicely into a level 70 chapter and a level 80 chapter, and the changes were made to force it to fit the new system. Currently the level 70 story involves cleansing Artesian Waters, and level 80 is the advance to Arah, even though previously these two chapters occurred side by side.

Okay then!

I don’t wanna sound like I’m complaining, as it is really not my intent, it’s just when I have done Temple of the Forgotten God, I don’t expect I should have to do it again later down the road just because I left a character dormant for a year. I was just… confused and it was getting to me here and there, because I only ever did Storyline when I felt like, yet these days, I am running all my toons through it and I’m just like – “Wait, …Uh… um… huh?”

Pretty much. You seem far along enough in the story though you could just finish it, and if you have plans to roll another character to use that for the fixed story. Im on my tablet so a lot of browsing and links isnt easy to check for me atm, but that sticky may tell you where the fixed story would put you depending where you are now. I may be incorrext, but thought I read that somewhere.

Edit: looked at the sticky again and I was right, I would check it out OP and see what you want to do

I actually like the new change, because it let’s players experience the story uninterrupted. Before the change, you would often be underleveled, then you would have to go out of your way between chapters and level up, just to get to the next story. I don’t like that they removed some stories, but they probably had to compromise on it.
