I bought an old Digital Deluxe Edition
Yup, as you said, you have the old one. Sadly, there’s nothing they can do to change yours. If you really wanted one of the armor skins, you could buy them off the gem store; they’re 500 gems per set, I believe.

I don’t understand why ANet didn’t give out the added on items to users who had the old edition. I don’t have the money or the gems to be able to get the other stuff again.
1) You bought the game earlier, thus have had more time to experience it and get the other armors that released with the now discontinued Living Story Season 1.
2) You are not entitled to the new items included in the DDE just because you purchased it previously. You purchased the version with the features it had at the time of purchase; not on any stipulation that future added perks also are entitled to you,…because they’re not. In fact, many products and companies update their already older version to try to appeal to new customers (and yes, 2.5 years is quite old!).
3) In the time you’ve been playing GW2, you could have earned the gold for the 800 gems to purchase the armor set; or you could have gotten the gems through the achievements awards. Either way. Also, the armor set is only $10 in the gem store anyways.

For the same reason they don’t refund people who payed full price for the game at launch just because they’ve had big discounted sales over the past few months.
If you play the game enough, you’ll get enough gold to buy gems to get the armor skins, if you wanted one. A couple of weeks of running dungeons or doing some Silverwastes runs would get you there, and that’s with only playing a few hours a week. The only other thing you didn’t get were the 10 exp boosters. You get boosters by leveling and doing certain personal story steps. You can also get them from black lion chests (which you get keys to open by also doing certain personal story steps).
Is there any way I could be able to receive the items to my mail? Or am I just excluded from the benefits.
No, they wouldn’t give you the items simply because you had the old version of it; they only do that for cases where someone deleted their first character without first getting their Deluxe items out of the character’s inventory. Unless this is a case where you somehow very recently bought the old version off of ebay or something without realizing what’s going on.

You can make a ticket and see what becomes of it… but probably nothing will. The legacy armors that are in the package include the armor skins of Primeval, Krytan, and Profane-all of which are still in the gem store. These armor skins were the first to be introduced in the Gem Store when the game was released.
I would also note to you that those particular skins are not all that and a bag of potato chips. You aren’t really missing out.

Please don’t make a ticket for this. They are only going to say no. So you’ll waste your time and Support’s time. And Support is currently overwhelmed with tickets due to the recent announcements relating to HoT.
Here is a post from Gaile Gray from around the time of the change in what each version offered (source )
According to our Marketing Team, the items you mention are from the Heroic Edition, not the Digital Deluxe Edition. The items are given to those who activated a new game account starting around the end of August and on into the future. Please keep in mind that with any developer, offerings and prices change over the life of a game. Just as your local department store doesn’t give this week’s bonus B1G1F offer to someone who purchased the a pair of shoes six months or a year ago, we’re not giving the new items to those who have had the pleasure of playing the game for the last many months.
However, I’d like to say more about the Heroic Edition items: all these items are available in the game. For those who have played for a while, it’s likely they already would have acquired the items or would find that they no longer are relevant.
Bold is my addition, not present in the original.
Starting a new MMO a year or more after launch means you’re behind. Even in a game like Guild Wars 2, you’re still behind. So if they give you a single suit of the original armor that was in the cash shop at launch, 10 experience boosters and an 18 slot big, big, fat hairy deal.
What I always say to people that complain about this is this…you should get everything that comes with the new expansion…but you should give up everything you’ve earned in the interim. You send everything back and Anet should give you that stuff.
Do you think it’s a bad thing that Anet changes the package to entice more players to buy the game that haven’t bought it before…cause I don’t.
just buy gw1 and get the HOM points, its easy to get the full legacy armor..

That is heritage armor, not legacy armor.

Ahh right, what armor is the legacy stuff then?
After a google search, the gemstore gw1 armors pop up..
Check this out. Open the gem store. For the low low price of only 2000 gems, you can upgrade to digital deluxe again! It’ll fix your problem right up, and you’ll get that choice of legacy armor. You’ll also get an 18 slot bag and a bunch of boosters.
That’s right. 2000 gems for: 500 gems worth of armor, a bag that would otherwise cost maybe 2-5 gold in the trading post and some boosters.
Don’t think of it as a “Customer Loyalty Reward” think of it more as a “Customer Loyalty Test.”

It was great when it was on sale recently for 500 gems.

They’re all available in the gem store anyway.
What items you get depends on when the account is created not the age of the key/box.
My husband’s account was made using a code from a friend’s Collectors Edition. (They bought the Digital Deluxe at launch, got the Collector’s Edition later on for the real-life items and were nice enough to give him the account key since they didn’t have any use for a second account.)
The Collectors Editions were all made before launch, so none of them would include the Heroic Edition items.
But he created the account 1.5 years after the game came out, and after the Heroic Edition was added. He got the Mithril Box, XP boosters and gem store armor set and didn’t get the Heroes Band (which was the pre-order bonus).
So if you registered your account after 28th August 2013 you should have gotten the Heroric Edition items. If you didn’t I would contact Support.

If you bought this copy very recently (like, it was a boxed copy that had been sitting in a shop’s stock for ages), then it might be worth your while to submit a ticket explaining the circumstances. Otherwise, probably not.

As stated above, no it’s not.
They’re not going to give him the items he didn’t receive, and don’t waste supports time with a meaningless ticket.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA

EDIT: Oops. Nvm. What I was thinking of was impossible. I forgot about a key word in ‘Digital Deluxe Edition.’

I kinda agree with the OP. They kinda screwed the people that have had the game for a while. They’re not gonna do anything about it, but I can see why people would think they should.

I was one of those people, I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition on the first day of pre-purchase, but I don’t feel screwed at all.
The Heroic Edition has 3 extra items:
- 10 XP boosters – To go with the 7 or 8 free ones currently sitting in my bank. Sure they’re useful for levelling alts but I’m sure I got more than 10 in the first year of playing and I never remember to use them.
- 18 Slot Mithril Box – Going for about 2g on the TP. Again it could be nice to have a free one but it’s hardly a big loss.
- Set of Legacy Armor – If anyone’s still unclear these are the Primeval, Krytan and Profane armor sets that have been in the Gem Store since launch. IMO if anyone who bought the game early on wanted them they’d have already bought them by the first year anniversary. I didn’t buy them because I didn’t want them and bundling them with the game doesn’t change that. (In fact it’s possible Anet picked them because they sold the least – why give away something players are likely to buy separately later on?)
I’d much rather have the Living Story Season 1 skins which latecomers don’t have, can’t get and may never be able to get. Some of them are actually quite nice.
(For the record I’d also much prefer it if everyone could get them, I’m not a fan of ‘exclusive’ rewards. But the point is that people who bought the game early on have many advantages that IMO trump a few random freebies.)
