I can't anymore
No
And for ascended droprate. RNG is RNG and have been part of this (and any game) forever. if the drop change is 1/1000 with 0 magic find, the droprate would be now 2.4/1000, so it is still a lotttery.
If you want ascended gear you need to craft it. Keep in mind the bonus is very very slight and it really is only needed in FotM
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I don’t feel like that at all, but then I haven’t played another MMO since Ultima Online over 10 years ago and I usually ignore the achievements.
I just treat it like any other RPG, but with other people around.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I can certainly empathize. I kind of went through this with WoW. I left after seven years of continuous subscription and playing long periods every day. I chased the new shinies and the better gear, taking on the raids, the dailies, the crafting, etc…until finally I just could not force myself to log in any more. Seemed more like work than fun.
I have been playing GW2 since beta and took a very, very different approach to this game. I do what I want to do (to have fun) and, for the most part, am pretty indifferent to loot drops. I manage to accumulate enough gold to make sure that my toons have exotic gear to run in and, beyond that, I pretty much do not care about anything better. I don’t have (or desire) a legendary; I am not worried about crafting ascended weapons or armor. I log in with specific activities in mind – guild missions three times a week (because I really like running with them); maybe some map clearing; dungeons on occasion; and even wander into WvW from time to time. Bottom line is…I play for the fun of it. If and when it ceases to be fun, I will probably also move on.
after about a year of the SAME OLD missions week in and week out it’s not really worth it anymore.
…Maybe im just over MMO’s in general since it’s the same old crap over and over and over and over.
it’s not an MMO thing, it’s you repeating the same thing over and over even though you don’t enjoy it. The same would be true if it was a fighting game or a racing or any other kind of game really.
you did all you wanted to do and now you’re just going through the motions, put the game down and move on to something else, just like you would with any other game.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Yea, it sounds like you burned out on MMOs. I’ve taken plenty of breaks from GW2 to play other games. Come back when you feel like it. If you aren’t enjoying yourself when you play, then don’t play. It really is that simple.
Also it sounds like you attempted a guild mission twice and based on those results you decided the drop rate hasn’t increased? As far as I know MF only effects loot dropped from mobs and not reward loot from completed event chests. Drop rates likely went from horrible to slightly less horrible.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I really can’t support this game anymore. It’s soooooo kittening different then when i was playing at release date. I want to stop playing but i also want to support my guild during bounty, rush and challenge’s. I got excited since they “Increased” the drop rate on ascended armor with guild missions but i went in last week and the week before with 240% MF and got all yellows….still.
I almost feel like Anet has made the achievement point system it’s main bread and butter…I pretty much force myself to play once a week on Saturday for guild missions but after about a year of the SAME OLD missions week in and week out it’s not really worth it anymore.
Anyone else feeling this way? Maybe im just over MMO’s in general since it’s the same old crap over and over and over and over. I guess this game is the straw that broke the camels back for me.
You’re making the game suck for yourself. Stop doing the same missions, the same way, with the same char, in the same places, with the same people, using the same build on the same day every week and I bet you stop feeling bored. I try not to use the same character for more thank a few hour straight, I avoid guild missions I don’t like, I try all the new content as it gets released etc.
Some really sound, non-inflammatory advice in here. I appreciate this thread. Breaks are huge! They are necessary. Hit up a different genre for a few months altogether. Come back and see what’s new. If you still aren’t in a good place with the genre, take a break again. Games should=recreation, not lifestyle.
I feel this way that’s why lately I complain so much about anet’s choices
In September I grew tired of the game. I went to play BF4. Came back after 2 months and suddenly my interest is rekindled.
Do the same.

I’m a big fan of this. I get tired of games usually after about 3-5 months and I have to move on to something different for a while. What sucks about doing this with GW2, is that you miss out on so many things because of the crazy amount of temporary content. For example, when Reaper of Souls comes out, I’ll be taking a break from GW2 (which is my own decision, nobody’s fault but mine), so I’ll miss a lot of stuff and won’t be able to play through it again. You can’t say that about other MMOs. Unless you’re talking about holiday events.
I’ve recently put down GW2 and taken up knitting. The knitting is a little more frustrating, but at least I have something to show for it at the end

They blatantly stated when ascended armor was announced, even promised, that there would be more than one way of obtaining it. And no, a 0.1/1000 chance of getting a drop is not a method of obtainment, it is as you said, a lottery. No more a method of earning something than buying lotto tickets is a job.
