Everyone is already fractal lvl 5+ and wont accept me into their group. Im still lvl 2 and trying to catch up. The other groups dont want me in their group because Im too low of a fractal level. I thought this game was supposed to enable me to play all content, but I can hardly experience the new dungeon. Sorry, I didnt have hours to play this game this weekend. But now I do, and I cant

I am not in a guild, and choose not to be. I would like to play the game on my own and find dungeon groups as if I was looking for an AC group. But I guess I missed out on Fractals….

On other Nexon games, to overcome this, you have to offer gold to the higher level players to have them party with you to complete the mission. If you don’t have enough gold, you will need to buy items from cash shop to trade for in game gold. That is how Nexon games are run.

Try posting this in chat, I’m sure you will get in a group:

lfg fact lvl2. Offering 1 gold to get in party.

Even WoW isn’t stupid enough to allow players to content gate each other with the LFG tool after realizing the horrors of gearscore OR have dungeons with 10+ levels of difficulty because its incompatible with the previous point.

I haven’t had that much problem getting party (at least on overflow server) but keeping it together.. people rage quitting to first death and then there is that still haven’t got party where all would understand same language.

I wouldn’t get hung up on the title of the game. It is called guild wars, but do you really war with other guilds? No. So don’t get hung up on it, its just a title probably tied to lore some how.

LOL. Weakest argument ever. “Guild Wars” is about the lore of the game, not about the game mechanism, motto or any other things. I do agree that guilds should make your experience easier and funnier, but not pre-requisite.

Well I haven’t even got passed lvl1. Stuck in the swamp and no more time to play again. And this FOTM level thing is character based right? Means your other characters have to start from lvl1 too?

spam LA and hope someone takes you in? Get a few friends and do it with them on a regular basis? or a guild? Be patient and wait for someone else to /m with you?

Honestly, wrt to the guild argument, the only reason it was suggested because it was the best way to get a list of people immediately and regularly, as well as meeting new friends. If anyone else complains about how you need to have friends to do fotm dungeons… I just… ugh…

Really? A Game company that would not listen to their playerbase, I DON’T BELIEVE IT!

Its a fault in several aspects if this game from empty lower level map to this issue.. Hopefully it will be addressed.

Yeah and that’s why we have Guild vs Guild pvp like in GW1…..oh no we don’t.

Word to the wise: don’t let the name get in the way of your expectations. Anet doesn’t either :P

Well in the AMA he addressed my question directly: “What are your plans to fixing the fractal leveling system. It is fragmenting the community”. He said they have a few options, one of them bracketing the levels so you can group with people 1-5, 6-10, etc. Something like that, but then they need to adjust the difficulty of each level/bracket and reward.

I am tempted to log in tonight and try to get a level 5 group, but I have a feeling I’ll either be turned off by the fact I’ll be waiting 30 minutes for a group, or disconnected midway through.

Seems there is differences from server to server on this. I can asure it is definitely NOT everyone that is already at 5. I am at 2 too. Considering my experiences with pugs, I am hesitant to do more with such. Might bring my guild into it, even if that means I have to do difficulty 1 first again.

I found it nearly impossible to get groups as well.
As a wvwer, I just wanted to get my monthly done.

Had to beg guild mates to come. Nobody was willing to back tract to level 1 or level 2 fractals, in LA, or even in guild.
Took several days just to get the monthly. And even then, Im still only level 2, because the only way I was able to go, was to keep going back down to level 1, to get other new fractal players to go.

So after 3 runs, Im still level 2, as the only way to even get 3 runs, was to downgrade back to level1 over and over.

All the people having problems finding a group in this thread should group together!

Try using gw2lfg.com until ANET decides to put a fix in. Seriously a huge issue, but the tool does help in the interim.

The problem with fractals is the same as the problems with Orr. ANet has split the community into tiny little bits, and there is just not enough community to overcome that. In Fractals, each difficulty level is its own tiny little community, and since there is no incentive to run with people stuck in a lower tier, no one does.

Same thing happens in Orr. There is only one zone with level 80 drops, so that’s where everyone goes. Beyond that, there are only a couple events that run fast enough and produce reliable enough rewards, so those events get farmed and others get ignored.

Fixing Orr with something like ‘underflow’ servers that were suggested on the suggestions forum might work. Fixing Fractals requires a serious rethink of the feasibility of each and every difficulty level being distinct. There are just too many obstacles to having a reliable number of players available since a) they have to enjoy running the same handful of dungeons repeatedly, b) all be online at the same time, c) all be at the exact same difficulty of dungeon, and d) actually be in the mood to run those same dungeons.

I made it to level 9 before running out of steam on Fractals. I want the better gear, but I’m sick of the randomness of the swamp, the monotony of being force to swim for my life rather than fight as a dolphin, and the just overall repetitiveness of the very small number of dungeons. As soon as you add in 30 minutes to an hour to find a group, well, I still have a couple classes I haven’t leveled to 80, other dungeons to run, WvW and sPvP that I enjoy, etc.

I really wish we could do that, if only for dungeons! I miss my heroes and henchmen, and I didn’t even play GW1 very long.

The only groups I see people forming are for level 1 and 2. Finding a level 5 group has been a nightmare.

Is that so? Then how come when one person from our party is say in an overflow and we try to start the dungeon with 4 in one server and that guy in the overflow, does it only present readiness ticks for 4 players? The 5th guy gets left behind from what I’ve seen, and because there’s no room in the server where the majority of players are, we have to right click his mug and select “Join Party At…” or whatever the option is to change servers. Incidentally I’ve found this is where most of the disconnects happen. Forget Level 5, I want to get off Level 1. Should it be so hard? Even with a decent group we eventually get disconnected.

this is funny since pvp crowd has completely different definition of Guild wars.

Oversight that a little testing would’ve solved. Its asking yourself, “What if…” But ANET seems not to consider that little thing when designing anything. For example…What if 100 people are on your screen at once…" The answer is, the engine is incapable of displaying that many players…" Their solution should’ve been, optimize the engine so its capable of handling the load. Instead, they hoped people playing never played another MMO thats actually capable of doing it….like GW1 players=)

Well this is seriously an issue IMHO, the fractals design could possibly be the bigger flaw/downside of this game, and i am not talking about power creep here.

At is current state fractals system it’s discouraging new players to join your game.

I see what you did there, 2 options:
1) you guys believe that eventually everyone will reach the same difficulty level and be happy, what you haven’t considered is: how many of the new players joining has the patience to do it. Frustration is what really kills MMOs.

2) Worst case scenario is what jojojoon.8607 said. But i refuse to believe that’s your goal.

I am playing the game since release, I supported the game since then and I genuinely think GW2 has the potential to be the best MMO ever made. I want this game to be successful just like you even if there is no money coming in my pocket.

I could suggest something, allow difficulties to be selected based on who has the highest tier (10,20,30 ecc) if players A,B,C and D had lvl 2 unlocked and player 0 has lvl 12 unlocked the full party end up in a lvl 10 instance.
Once they complete the Fotm player A,B,C and D will unlock the lvl 3 and player 0 will get an “Helper Token” used for buy cosmetics or special crafting materials

Whenever I form a non guild group I always announce that I am forming a Level (current level) or under group.

Use the gw2lfg.com site to find groups. It’s actually relatively easy to find low level fractal groups to run with at the moment on there.
