I didn't know there were dwarves in-game...
He’s the only one. He’s been there, and he’s cameo’d in the Personal Story.
He’s the only one WE KNOW OF at this point. Presumably there might be other stone dwarves down below fighting Primordious’s minions still.

why is he the only one….where did he come from, what happened to the others, why is this ignored? being the last of your race is kind of a big deal, and it’s sad that I only noticed it on my third character.

Players who played GW1 EotN know the story.
This was the subject of the GW1 expansion Eye of the North. Ogden was a hero from that expansion that could be added to your party.
It’s pretty much only in there as an homage to GW1 Eye of the North fans, it has no place in the current lore of the game.

…As far as I know, Primordus didn’t magically disappear nor did the dwarves fighting its minions underground. It’s not a homage. The HoM is a homage to GW1 players. Events in GW1 are part of the lore of GW2 because it’s the same world.
o.k. so the dwarves went underground to fight minions. Why can’t we go underground as well…is the entrance they used not accessable? did they teleport? plot hole?

I was just offering an explanation for why this is seemingly unexplained in GW2. Which is largely because the current story of GW2 told so far (Zhaitan, Scarlet)… makes zero mention of, nor does it include any relevance to, the Dwarves, Primordus, or pretty much anything that happens in GW1 really.
Maybe homage was the wrong word, but Ogden’s place in that portion of the Personal Story can only be appreciated by the people who followed the lore explained through the events of GW1 whether they played the game or looked it up on the wiki afterwards.
Just because it took place in the same world does not make it relevant to the current story that is being told.

Game development decision.
But even in GW1 we didn’t access the underground from everywhere. Most entrances either collapsed or were accessed with Asura gates that are probably now in enemy territory and thus got destroyed (Jormag and Primordus).
But as you can see in game, destroyers are appearing in a few zones so maybe we’ll investigate that one day.

No, those areas are simply not done yet. Like a lot of other areas we cannot access at the moment.

The area where the Dwarves went underground to fight Primordius and his minions is further north in the Shiverpeaks – in an area we don’t have access to in GW2 at this time.
The place they entered from has most likely been destroyed, considering Jormag’s rampant activity in the Northern Shiverpeaks.
Every single Dwarf has undergone the rite of the dwarf and is now stone – and as far as we know Ogden is the only one who stayed above the surface.
After undergoing the rite and becoming stone the dwarves have been left with a singular desire to battle Primordius and his minions – which is why you don’t see any others – there is no reason whatsoever for them to come to the surface.

One thing that should be mentioned is that the main point from where Dwarves pushed into Destroyer territory – Central Transfer Chamber – has likely been destroyed or overtaken by Primordius (since he happened to be just next door to it when he woke up).
Which may be a reason why access to the Dwarves (as well as to original Asuran cities) is difficult currently.

why become stone?
It makes them stronger, tougher, able to survive on bad air underground, and all around better suited to fighting lava/magma creatures like the destroyers.
There’s also a chance that it may make them immune to dragon corruption. Dwarves supposedly knew more about the Elder Dragons, it’s possible that the spell they used protects them from corruption by using a similar effect to that corruption. Once something’s corrupted by a dragon, it can’t be re-corrupted by another dragon.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
