Guild Wars 2

I’ve been on-off of the forums for awhile, and in that time I’ve never seen anyone bring this up.

If you run through the first personal story again, the fight with Zhaitan is actually quite a bit harder than it was previously. I discovered this while doing the personal story on my new Rev.

#1: Zhaitan will now reach out and throw projectiles at you that are quite damaging and will knock you off of the turrets.

#2: The various heads of Zhaitan will reach out and pop up through the ship as enemies. There’s no spawn limit on these from what I’ve seen, and they can get quite overwhelming after awhile.

#3: Tendrils will spawn next to the turrets and continue to swipe you off until they are killed. No spawn limit.

This all culminated with me doing what I thought was impossible: I died to zhaitan. I decided to ignore the adds and just concentrate on firing, and then found out very quickly that the various tentacles of Zhaitain will overwhelm you.

So… what did everyone else think of these changes? Or am I the only one on the forums who bothered to take the rev through the personal story?

Are these the same changes from 6(ish) months ago? Or did they change them again?

Was that the change where they made it so you no longer need a team for the final personal story step? If so, no they are not the same changes.

Yeah. I’ve had a bit of time off so I’m going to have to investigate this. Have a load of characters to go through the final stage.

Idk. I remember doing that one at launch with a friend or two and it was hard. Mobs spawning everywhere. Aoe being dropped all over the deck. Trying to fight all the mobs, avoid the AOEs and also use the cannons was more than I could see one person doing. Which is why I never finished my own personal story after I helped friends with theirs about 3 times those 3 years ago.

I’ve heard it’s easier now. Maybe I’ll do it if it really is.

I did Zhaitan again yesterday too, and what he does is totally random. He hasn’t changed but usually only uses the black fields which do quite a bit of dmg and poison, and the knockbacks. He spawned only 1 group when I did him a few days before HoT release.
Dunno if he really scales now since it isn’t a real dungeon anymore… I was alone in both runs.

With the redo they did this year to put it back together after ballsing it up, and making the final stage solo-able then yes its not too bad. I’ve only done it the once (a ranger) but that was pretty good. Well I thought it was pretty good. Never did it before the revamp. Looks like there may have been another tweak.

mhh. i did it solo with my mesmer not too long ago (last week or so) and was worried most about the chopper bugging out- which didn’t happen. I rushed the last phase, dodged the green stuff, fought one tentakel and sticked to the cannons otherwise.

I will pay attention to the phase when i do it on my necro, but i didn’t find it hard at all. Actually a friend of mine found it so disappointing he hasn’t touched Gw2 after … :/
