I don't get Guild Missions
I don’t understand, would you not have gotten more for getting the second target…?
Also just FYI they can drop outright as a reward upon completing a guild mission.
EDIT: To fully answer your question, you can only do one per week… per tier per mission type. You’ll be rolling in commendations after a few weeks if your guild has 40 players active enough to take on a bounty.
BTW, did you split into two teams, or what?
Since I can gain my reward once per week will it take 6 weeks just to get one?
Can you not do one of each mission types per week?
Also, why must every new system that gives reward be judged mostly by “it’ll take me X weeks to get the reward I want” .. how about just judging the content for the content itself rather than the rewards given.

Yes, it does function like this. ANet specified in another thread that they fully intend this to take time. That’s why the only other way to get the accessories is via Laurels, and the number of Laurels is comparable to the number of days it’ll take you to get them via Guild Commendations (unless you get lucky).
i dont care about the reward.
are the missions “fun” ? somewhat challenging ?
worth playing for somebody who doesnt care that much for numerical rewards ?

I don’t know If I would have got more if we cleared the second one. That’s why I was asking! ^^
We didn’t split in teams, we hadn’t any idea what was going to happen so we didn’t have any clue to make decisions and organize things.
I loved the overall experience. First of all there were 40 guildies in Lion’s Arch and a commander, people were constantly asking question what we were doing and we didn’t lose the occasion to answer with jokes. We were all excited and ts3 was quite confusing because of all the chattering.
Then the mission itself was very funny, we got in the first map and scattered all around the map. When a guildie spotted the target we all regrouped and then it was done. Too bad the champion itself wasn’t that much of a challenge. It seems they don’t scale in stats according to the number of players, it literally melted. Also, I’m afraid in no time we’ll be able to find maps on internet showing the targets and thus ruining the experience.
As for the “you should play for the sake of it”. If I see an equipment that is better than mine it’s only natural that I want it. And it’s also natural that I want it in a reasonable time. Especially considering that guild missions do not depend on my own skill or determination: they depend on my guild. Will they be willing to partecipate in many Guild Missions? Will we be able to clear them every single time? Will my admins bear the trouble of organizing the events?
I’m not the guy who just play to get the lootz. I ran fractals countless times and I don’t need it anymore: I have countless rings in my bank and more than 20 Pristine Relics. Still run it once a day (or twice if somebody in the guild needs people) because I consider it the funniest dungeon of the lot (bosses are great and require coordination and teamplay). But I have 4 lvl 80s, all with ascended rings and accessory and one with ascended amulet, and of course it’s a huge problem for me if equipping just one of them with 2 accessories takes 12 weeks. The non-ascended geared ones will slowly be left behind because they’ll have less AR or less stats. Why playing a weaker character if you have a stronger one ready? Also, my “main” is a thief and of course she will be the first to get the new gear BUT I prefer to run some instances with my Warrior, especially when they’re harder, when we have less skilled guildies in the team or when we are short of heavy armor wearers and condition removal. So my “trump card” will be weaker, even if by just a little.
And to think I was considering raising the remaining 4 classes to 80…
If you complete both targets you’ll receive the merits from the mission, which can be used to unlock more mission types (and rewards from those missions).
I’m looking into why some of the bounties don’t appear to be scaling normally. They might just need more health in general, given that many of them live in low-level zones.
It was in fireheart rise, so not so low level. The boss didn’t last even 20 seconds, nobody got even downed.
Also, I’m not talking about Guild Merit, I’m talking about Guild Commendations.
Great job anyway, I hope you have a system that makes targets spawn randomly so we have to actually look for the target instead of having to know where it is from looking at an online map.
So, how many Guild Commendations are available per-week?
I don’t care about rewards from guild missions, i’m not donkey chasing carrots, just let me play with my guildies ANYTIME we want, i don’t want to schedule my time to play videogame that is suposed to be “casual friendly”.
Making the bosses COMPLETELY random and not in a specific route would be much better and more fun, so you don’t have to look at an online map all the time.

You would need a lot more time then. Even know path with 30+ ppl it can take longer then it should to find it.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Oh, great! I was just thinking maybe our small guild COULD do them! But no, it’s a glitch. Figures.

Do you HAVE TO look at online map? I don’t think so.

Nope. Spend 30 minutes looking for something that dies instantly when you find them.
I’m still waiting for “fun” endgame instead of “farming” endgame for PvE.
really bad engineer
OP shouldn’t worry about “not getting it”. A rather large number of players are never going to get this content because it’s gated and smaller guilds simply can’t play.

They were incredibly fun. It’s like a giant guild scavenger hunt, which is exactly the kind of thing my guild loves. We spread out and swarmed the map with 40 people. a non-guildy ended up finding it for us for one of them. The bosses we faced were very challenging. One spawned tornadoes and lightning storms that flung people everywhere and took down whole swaths of our guild.
The hunting part was what I liked best personally.
Oh, great! I was just thinking maybe our small guild COULD do them! But no, it’s a glitch. Figures.
Your guild should be able to do them just fine. When we found ours we made an announcement in map chat 30 seconds before we engaged and by the time we did an additional 15 people showed up from the map to help us out. granted we didn’t need the help but we figured people might want to see the event. So I suspect you shouldn’t have a problem bringing in locals if you don’t have enough people in just your guild.

This is what I found interesting….With the weekly reset and all, how is this different from a typical mmo raid?

You have more raids weekly then you have guild missions now.

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
I’m seeing the little star guys all over, but no one seemed to be out looking for them, & no one asked for help, so I never saw how the fights went.
hell no please no.
the walking routes of the bounties are already very huge.
they cover almost the whole map.
it is fine as it is now. please god no random spawning.
Making the bosses COMPLETELY random and not in a specific route would be much better and more fun, so you don’t have to look at an online map all the time.
I’ll be taking a look at some of the super easy ones (Trilla), but a lot of them are on a path so big that it doesn’t really matter if you know it; you still have to track them anyway. Also, we intend to add a few more that play “hide and seek” like Westward and Sotzz. Sotzz has 300 different places he can appear in Gendarren Fields.
And what about guys that don’t have unlocked whole map?
Its not weekly reward its DAILY its just on a 24 hour timer, not like the standard dailies..i believe the guild currency to unlock the higher missions is 25 per week..i’m not 100% sure..
I currently have 4 commendations this week ….
Edit
No you do not get a second reward for clearing a second target.. you do get the usual completed event stuff though exp/karma/1 silver..

Don’t even start thinking about bounties that are to low hp, the main focus should be to get a UI that is somewhat useable, the current setup is tedious and down right destructive to the enjoyability of the content.
Not to mention the pain a event leader goes trough trying to organize enough people to keep track of 15 diffrent mobs in 15 diffrent zones, with 15 diffrent pathings!
And thats before even adding in the pain of having someone else kill the bounty your tracking.
Want to look into scaleing check out the Mount Maelstrom bounty, what the hell is up with that guys hp? he makes lupicuses hp pool look like a joke.
Or the confusion spamming bounty.
Or the karka guy which you can spend a hour looking for without any signs of his famous chat bubble.
Don’t you dare make it any harder until you fix all the issues that make it artificially harder.
I enjoy the concept of guild missions, but having to send out scouts to 15 diffrent locations to make the missions even somewhat reasonable, is extremly messy, and not enjoyable for the person who has to micro manage it.
I want to be guild missions to be difficult, but atm they are just a stressful and tedious experience.
Edit: Dante, Im fairly certain its not daily, you most likely just hit the weekly reset timer..
Though I most definatly!!!! hope you are right, I will find out tommorow

You don’t get to play, just like small guilds don’t get to play. Have a nice day.

Anet broke their Manifesto completly back in November, keep that in mind.
We also tried it for the first time last night and i was pretty disappointed at the lack of reward for doing the mission a 2nd or 3rd time. The bounties only last 15 minutes so it’s not worth getting a large group together to just do one, but doing more than one is rather pointless. Even a token 10s per champion would be nice, but as it is now you only get the default 1s for completing an event.
[Re] Rerolled
So (this is to Fab) – were the missions fun? I mean, did you think they were worth striving to open?
They were enjoyable. A little buggy atm, one boss had a tiny amount of HP, i’m guessing the scaling didn’t work. Another boss had a crazy amount of HP combined with constant condition removal, he seemed a little OP, we failed on him twice. But the process of getting everyone together, searching the map, and reporting back was all really fun. It was a great evening.
I know people will say that the fun should be its own reward. I partially agree, but when we get our guild together it would be nice to have an incentive to spend a little more time together. After all, isn’t that what these missions were intended to do?
[Re] Rerolled
The bounty NPCs are a cakewalk with a large guild. One bounty gave us some trouble, but the rest were zerged down.
The Missions themselves could really use a UI notification. They’re hidden away behind two tabs. Even something like a notification on the guild menu tab the same as you get when you have something waiting for you on the Trading Post would help players find the information and status a lot quicker.

Yea, i kinda noticed.
I thought they reset daily?

How exactly. I can still get said gear (that i dont actualy need btw) by othere means. Theres plenty of other content i can still do at any time with my guilds.
Even if im not in a guild i can still do the content.
And guild content by its vary nachter needs to be scheduled because how are you going to do large scale guild focused content if your guild dosnt know when its going to be???
Sotzz has 300 different places he can appear in Gendarren Fields.
Oh wow 300 different locations. No wonder people had trouble finding him lol
I still think the mob in Fields of Ruins needs a bigger pathing map.
lol why are people asking for these to be more difficult? wow.
lol why are people asking for these to be more difficult? wow.
for big guilds that’s not a serious problem, but it makes it even harder on the small ones. Exclusivity in it’s purest form.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
lol why are people asking for these to be more difficult? wow.
some of them are pathetically easy. Like a group of 10 can take them down in <30 seconds and they walk on a small path that can make them easy to find. Those need to be made harder because they aren’t fun.
Others are fine and a few are overtuned.

also this is not true.
Any word on when it resets?
Any word on when it resets?
Apparently it has reset on the daily reset between saturday and sunday.
This is just to help give an advantage to big guilds that whine on mass.
Not only does the new system allow guilds to get new gear in half the time, they don’t actually need to spend any laurels on the new gear, giving them 80 more than people that still play in the same time.
So where I would be going around doing the shopping list Anet gives us, day in and day out, guilds don’t have to, because they special. By special I mean, probably dropped on their heads early on in development.
Oddly I haven’t seen any of these bad kitten guilds complaining that this is just pve… Well i suppose they can just high-jack WvW whenever they want anyway, so who cares…
Spoilt brat warz. Cumon everybody, stamp your feet!
(Because suggesting things politely works in twice the time or not at all.)
So I read though this thread and still really didn’t see any answers……
Are the rewards limited to attempts?
ex)Guild kills 1 of 2 in tier one..Are they limited to that one failed attempt for 1 week?
Are the tiers limited?
ex) Can a guild get rewards from tier 1 one day then tier 2 the next?
If a tier is failed via partial kill or no kill at all, can it be attempted again for guild merits within the same week?
Can a guild do multiple tiers within a day?
And what is really funny is that before this update there were not many PVE focused big guilds (i mean 50+ online players at prime time, there are many guilds with 100 members but 10 active ones, guess where the others are?)
I’m on Desolation and not counting WvW guilds there were probably 4-5 big guilds, with this patch they will just give more reason to those small and dying guild to quit.

Guilds can do as many tiers as many times they want to everyday, as long as they have the influence (I believe it is 200 influence to activate each tier).
The rewards are what’s limited, not the attemps.
Guild Merits: The guild is limited to getting merits once a week per tier per mission. Ex. my guild, on the first week, got the guild merits from tiers 1, 2 and 3 from Guild Bounties, and more attempts did not reward more merits. The Guild Merits just recently reset, however, and we can now gain more by doing more Guild Bounties.
Guild Commendations: Each member is limited to getting commendations once a week per mission (not tier). So the first week, we got 2 commendations for killing one of the bounties during our Tier 1 attempt. More kills (regardless of tier) did not give more commendations. This also recently reset, and most of our members now have 4 commendations after we did Tier 1 several more times. Eventually, once we have all missions available, we will be able to get 10 guild commendations (2 per mission type x 5 different missions) per week.
I hope that clarifies.

I don’t know If I would have got more if we cleared the second one. That’s why I was asking! ^^ …
From our experiments,* apparently you wouldn’t have. You only get the rare item/guild commendations for one kill, presumably one per day but obviously we haven’t had time to test that yet. I also don’t know if you can get extra commendations for running a different type the same day; we didn’t get that unlocked in time to try, either.
But as it stands, if you run at least one guild bounty mission per day, every guild member who tags even one of the bounties with even one attack will get 2 guild commendations per day, so it’ll take 6 days, not 6 weeks, to earn 12 of them.
- Experiment: Between 7 pm and midnight CST, approximately 35 members of [SWAT] on Ehmry ran four guild missions: one level 1 success, one level 2 success, two level 3 miserable failures. There were people who joined after the first mission who got guild commendations for the second mission; nobody who was present for both missions got any more commendations than the people who were there for only one. We got no rewards at all for the failed missions, just about 50s each in armor repairs and teleport fees.
… Or the confusion spamming bounty. …
There’s more than one. Two of the three bounties I fought last night had spammable confusion attacks. As best as I can tell, you’re supposed to bring enough people that everybody can get off one or two attacks before they get confused, then drop out and let other people jump in for the 5 to 10 seconds it takes before your condition dump power recharges or they wear out. Or, failing that, bring enough bunkers to keep them busy while people who aren’t attacking go around rezzing the people who died of confusion spam.
And what about guys that don’t have unlocked whole map?
You don’t get to play, just like small guilds don’t get to play. Have a nice day.
You don’t have to be a large guild (once you do get them unlocked, which I grant will take forever) because every bounty we found had at least two other guilds pounding on them. You only have to tag them once. Of course, if there aren’t enough large guilds on your server that you can count on someone coming along to help, I don’t know what to tell you.
You don’t have to be at 100% map completion; according to Dulfy, there are only 15 zones they can spawn in, so far.
However, one of those zones is Frostgorge Sound, and another is Southsun Cove. So if you’re not level 80, yeah, you’re pretty much kittened. (Two other members of my guild were running alongside me to get to the bounty in Southsun, both of them level 60 or below. Neither one made it, they each got one-shotted along the way.) You can contribute if you get lucky enough that one or more of your bounties are in lower level zones; otherwise, I guess the message is “learn to power-level, noob, the real game starts at the level cap.”
Dear OP: immediate gratification does not a good game make.
While Immediate gratification isn’t a good game, I do think that chasing down the targets isn’t too much fun. It would be great if they left footprints, markings and other changes to the environment so that people could actually track them. The random locations are very hard to find for smaller guilds, and help smaller guilds out actually turns into competing with them. And with the time limit this is just nearly impossible for smaller groups.
I believe there must be a way of scaling the timer, and/or making sure that everyone in the guild actually is able to participate in the fight with the boss. I would begin with suggesting a “sign-up form” within guild window where guild members can sign up for a guild mission.
And with the amount that signed up you can make the guild mission timer scale up or down or otherwise, so that at least people have a fighting chance.
Or the easy way out, make tier 1 encompass 1 target.
It feels to me that the possibility of failing a bounty is a waste of influence, there’s no fun guild
Also, that guild are competing with one another seems a big issue to me.
