I don't understand all the complaining
My response is from my perspective and my perspective only.
You’re seeing a lot of complaints and few constructive suggestions because there’s no easy solution to approach the problems. Each time new content is released, it adds to the complications by introducing new variables to account for- thus making fixing and balancing more challenging.
I agree with you that there’s a lack of constructive suggestions on these forums.

Frankly, I’m tired of all the useless complaints and nothing to work off of- so I’ve taken upon myself to do the job for them. Making facilitated discussions on how to fix the problem, and creating a suggestion spreadsheet that gets refined through community feedback. (about 99% finished with warrior balance proposal, in the refining stages of guardian proposal, about to start a thief balance proposal. See links in my signature to view them, or other profession’s sub-forums to find my discussions on current problems)
Despite our efforts, it’s probably all in vain if Arenanet decides to pump out new unrefined content regardless of what I’m doing. It’s like adding fuel to the fire I’m trying to extinguish- every time there’s content- whether it be a sigil, rune, specialization, or profession, I need to consider more variables to develop a balance plan.
Frankly, I’m surprised Karl, Roy, and Robert have stayed with ArenaNet as long as they have. It’s an uphill battle for them and I know how hard it is to balance 9 professions, >600 traits, >1000 skills, countless sigils, runes, and food effects.
The complaints are from the loudest most vocal minority and while some have merrit the rest are on the bandwaggon of the week.
This week its raids, because for them its unobtainable, impossible, unlikely etc…. whatever excuse that they can form to come up with the actual reason they wont raid.
Apparently this “Dedication” to raid content is super bad, ignoring the fact that the Raid team is 5 devs out of roughly 280. Now then, 5 devs managed to put together and help maintain raids….Let that sink in. If this is what 5 of them can do, i cannot understand what is keeping the others at bay outside of the 70 who are assigned to xpac 2. Not a knock on the rest, but there’s your perspective for anyone who moans about raid content getting more attention.
This is the internet.
Complaining is like breathing.
if u read all the complains and slowly link them up on a board, you will start to get it
to ask for summary, is really hard, theres too much of it.
generally speaking, a lot of complains were empowered by the negative impressions left by the legit former issues and current issues.

the game’s dead.
pay your respects.
Oh it’s like any game I’ve ever played. The next time I start a new MMO I am going to scramble to post “This game is dead” in the forums first but boy will I need to be quick to beat the others!
There are always whingers in every game.
Whether or not it’s true, I like to think that the people who are absolutely loving the game aren’t in the forums… but playing the game. I wouldn’t be prowling the forums if the time I’m spending here could be instead utilized to play.
Then there’s those people who love the game, but there’s one (or twenty) flaws that have been niggling at them long enough that they just need to get it off their chest. Many of them I think are just drop-in-the-pan posters… they come, complain, and go back to the game.

Customers have every right to voice their concerns with the game. People will claim they are the vocal majority or vocal minority but that is a pointless argument since nobody has those numbers. If you don’t understand the basis of the complaints, read the threads. If you don’t agree with the complaint, you always have the option to present an opposing viewpoint. If none of that works and the complaints bother you just move on to a thread that is not a complaint.
I keep seeing posts from people complaining about stuff that needs to be fixed and the importance about fixing the game first before releasing new content like the expac 2.
And they talk about it like it is something game breaking like if the game was a big mess…
I understand… I understand that people like complaining in the first place, I mean I find myself complaining about people complaining about stuff…
But anyway let’s try to take it seriously… what is the problem here? I really enjoy the game, I’m playing it from the release and still having fun. I’m not blind though! I see that there are many problems and a lot of stuff that people could not agree with but it’s nothing that completely blocks the progress… ok wvw is a mess, but they are working on it!
Also is nothing strange in the videogame world, always a bunch of problems, some will get forever ignored, but the game stays and maybe with time it will get better…but here on the forum I see more complaining than interesting stuff and constructive suggestions. Prople screaming loud that “the end is nigh!!” “if anet doesn’t realize this the game is doomed!!” …I mean c’mon, it always seems to me like “sempay notice me!!” or a bunch of children kicking harder and harder because they want the thing that bothers them in that moment to be fixed now. NOWWW!!!!But maybe I’m wrong… someone please! Open my eyes!!
..I know I will probably get some hateful replies and some puncy lines just because is cool but yeah…. is there a way to revive the community in a better way?
I was enjoying the forums some time ago and it was not like the game was perfect at all…
To be honest, you will never NOT see complaint threads. I get really tied of the complaints myself which is why I rarely come to forums. In my honest opinion, from what I have observed since all the way back in the BWEs most of the complaints are not needed. By not needed I mean that the complaint in question has been addressed/acknowledged and a fix has been made/is in the making.
A prime example of this are all these complaints about raids. Clearly these people have done no research into the topic before they complained which is really not surprising. The majority of the complaints I see about raids were addressed in the AMA. For example, people think that Anet seems to have made raids their primary focus. That is not true. Mike stated that raids were close to being finished and as such they were focused on releasing that because, well, it’s done. Another thing is I guess people think Anet has devoted a lot of people and resources to raids which is also not true. The raid is 5-6(don’t remember which) devs working on it. The last one I see is where is the content for players that don’t like raids, which again, has been addressed. They said it was coming after they release all the raid wings and since they released them all, the next content update will be LS3.
As for the whole the end is nigh what not is just completely untrue. The end is nowhere near coming. It’s the same as the whole X game is going to kill GW2. I remember when people were claiming the Archeage, Wildstar, Blade and Soul, Fallout 4(was actually surprised someone was saying a singleplayer FPS game was gonna kill an MMO), and more recently Black Desert Online. All of these have done nothing to kill this game and I promise you no game that gets released will kill this game. A fun game I like to play is get a list of MMOs coming out this year and start making bets about which one is going to be the next GW2 killer.

And when a game gets no complaints after a decent amount of time, THAT’S when the game is on it’s last legs. Because no one cares enough to go tell the devs what they would like done differently.
People give complaints in constructive format when they care about something.
Like all games, it has its warts and flaws. Some people are extremely sensitive to these problems, to the point where it’s game breaking for them. So they’ll come to the forum and try to draw attention to “game breaking problems,” which of course aren’t fixed near fast enough to suit them, so they get more upset.
The lack of official responses to people’s complaints on the forum acerbates these feelings. Most of the free and easy back and forth official responses I’m seeing is on reddit. I’ve seen many posts there where someone types in a “name summons” to a particular Dev and the Dev comes on that thread at some point and speaks to the people directly about it. How often does that happen here? Almost never. This means people get frustrated when they speak here and there’s no response, so they turn up the volume and complain louder.
As someone who reads both this forum and reddit, I’m amazed and envious at the way the Devs over there drop into threads and chit chat, joke and speak directly to people about problems. There would be a lot of fires put out on this forum if they had anywhere near the casual presence here as they do over there,
My 2 cents.
ANet may give it to you.

There isnt much complaining.
Forums are like complaint magnets, which attract complainers.
But look at the actual number of people who are posting on the forums compared to the total player base, and the number of complaints is insignificant.
The only threads on forums which do need to be addressed are those relating to technical issues with the game such as people who cant get the game to play properly for some reason.
That’s right Anet don’t listen to your customers. Just tend to tech issues……
That’s right Anet don’t listen to your customers. Just tend to tech issues……
The problem is the “Customers” who assume that what they want is what’s most important. Like it’s already been said, forums are where all the whingers go, there is nothing on these forums that will tell you what the majority of “Customers” think, just the squeaky wheels.
The Data Anet has on player numbers and habits would tell them where the problems are far more accurately that a few malcontents screaming on the forums.
Show me the numbers on who the majority and minority are. Until you can do that, please don’t claim to know. It is a weak attempt to show support for your side.

Lol clearly their data read “People hate dungeons and pretty much everyone wants raids”.
Must be the same kind of data that told them to add a new gear tier to the game and let WvW stagnation hemorrhage players from the game…

Assuming powercreep and AoE CC increased across the board (making single target CC more meaningful thus already buffing warrior without actually touching it) my changes to thief would include:
*Reduced invincibility frames on dash.
*Vault and shortbow 5 energy consumption increased by 2
*Make scorpion wire a profession skill and to keep utility slots add basket throw where summoned thieves with the PC character who used the skill with a .75 second cast time right next to the target with a highly telegraphed rally as they do a stunt and flip. High cooldown skill, can be interrupted but only for the traditional 3 second interrupted skill lock and not full cool down.
*Distracting daggers is now just as fast as headshot. Increased cooldown to activate. This is because some skills are just too short to interrupt but you have the reflex to punish.
*Other suggestions I made in that thread including non sword autoattack damage reduced 20%.
I know I was a bit over the top with the moa nerf so farther down I gave a more reasonable tweak. Had a couple of matches where I got moa’d so I had a very negative bias towards the skill when making it. I know the skill’s tell and can dodge it but reading tells isn’t realistic if the opponent is stealthed or obstructed by too much in a big group fight at mid or any node.
“I don’t understand all the complaining”
You may not understand all the complaining, but I think I understand the point of this thread. It seems to be a squirrelly attempt to marginalize other players concerns with the game. People who have voiced their complaints have been characterized as whiners and angry little kids.
Should everyone log in the forum repeating the mantra " Anet is good, everything they do is great, they make no mistakes, every piece of content is impeccable, whatever direction you choose to go Anet will be the greatest decision in the world"
Wait, maybe if the “majority” of players who have never visited the forum were to write a comment then…………..

I have seen huge amounts of constructive suggestions that would improve the game, the problem is the devs seem to prefer to spend their time on reddit.
That is at least partially because the forums were apparently programmed by some dodgy builders and the devs are unwilling to spend 10 mins on improving them.
That means 99% of them never see the suggestions made, or the complaints.

LOL another forum complaining about folks complaining….. Hmmmm
The lack of official responses to people’s complaints on the forum acerbates these feelings.
Completely agree. Doesn’t mean that the devs are not listening or working, they are in fact replying.. just not here. I applaud the work done to try and bring those comments here but deplore that it has to be done.
Plus there needs to be more merging of [complaint] threads, if the complaints aren’t going to be addressed then at least reduce the clutter.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!
I can’t speak for everyone, but my frustration with the games comes from having experienced the first 2 years of the game. It felt more alive (megaservers help with events, but they damage community). WvW was oodles of fun, and I felt a true sense of immersion in the zone. Spvp is still good imo, but they recently released a ranked season that forced players to have terrible matches for the beginning. (either you facerolled, or got facerolled) Living world updates were frequent, and even though they claim the quality was not great, it was fun and exciting to see the world change around us. The expansion (and patches leading up to it) have damaged the community, and it shows to players who have been playing since launch. Otherwise, you would be right, it is still a great game, but it just feels like it’s gotten worse instead of better, which is disappointing. (10/10 → 8/10) Also, the expansion was the same price as the core game, but was just a fraction of the value, a big frustration point.

I 100% agree…..i played gw2 since the beta..and the first 2 years were the best ever! I didnt buy any other game during that time (which is really rare for me..in 2 years)…and i didnt even though of other games..bcs gw2 was perfect how it was…fun..always something new…and improving.
