There was a time when games were kind
When their stories were fun
And their quests inviting
There was a time before the grind
And games had content
And their content exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When loot was high
And games worth playing
I dreamed the fun would never die
I dreamed that games would be engaging
We gamers were young and unafraid
Our time not preyed and used and wasted
Games were merely to be played
No moderation abuse
No players lambasted

But the fat cats come at night
With their updates soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your fun to shame
With development on their side
They’ll pillage and loot and plunder
You’ll lose your wallet in their stride
And all your friends will quit the game

And still I dream this day might be
The day that we’ll all play together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And now other games all look better
I had a dream this game could be
So different from this grind I’m playing
So different now from what it seemed
Now grind has killed
The dream I dreamed

This isn’t to be taken seriously, I just felt like doing it. There might be some honest feedback tucked in there somewhere (hint hint ArenaNet) but overall it’s just silliness.

You sir deserve man points and thats saying something considering I disagree with everything you have said. You do however earn points for

a) Making me imagine a musical based on gaming.
b) Taking the time and effort to post what you did when a sentence would have been adequate.
3) Making me look up at my Blu Ray collection to see Sweeney Todd is up there. Not sure I want to watch it again though…

Note for next time- you wouldve got more man points had you have used the word ‘bacon’ in the song.

I feel that this might be the best way to get criticisms across. They have relevant information and can be helpful but those that disagree won’t start a flame war because they just can’t get over how awesome it is or how much they love the music.

Also, Rustypipes. I can’t tell if you are joking or not but there is more significant meaning to dreaming a dream. The more you know =)

As pasted via youtube earlier, it’s one of the more famous songs from the musical Les Miserables. I figured more people would recognize it considering how popular the film is right now, but apparently not.

Either way it’s just a better way of saying more or less, “Yo dawg no more fractals in monthlies I hate grinding!” and “Yo dawg your moderation is whack yo!”

This thread has made me lose all hope for humanity? How could you not recognize the song? And Anne Hathaway’s voice? She gave a brilliant performance and you have no idea who she played.

Music is poetry. I read is as poetry so thats what i saw it as poetry. Whether it is a song or not.

You’re taking it too seriously. I never mentioned WoW either — don’t use me entertaining myself as a vessel for you to take pot shots at WoW or other games for some reason.

That’s not a hit at me is it? I love Anne Hathaway’s rendition of that song. I have yet to see the movie (I really want to see it) but I have a link to the youtube video of her singing that song bookmarked. I wasn’t mocking her.
