I’ve been seeing a lot of complaint threads against dailies and laurels. TBH, I don’t see what the issue is. For me, the dailies are easy, fast, and enjoyable. I don’t mind that arenanet has been changing how the system works, because it’s a new implement, and that’s to be expected. Is there anyone else out there who has no problem with the dailies?

I agree.

I didn’t mind the original system but I’d never have gone out of my way to get it. Partially because it was boring, partially because unless you needed the coins there was no point.

But I like the new system. The variety makes it more interesting and also often easier (this morning I got 3/5 on a level 4-6 character without even trying. I was just running around levelling and getting to the next section of my personal story.

The rewards are much better too. Nothing you can’t play without (in spite of the current obsession some people have with getting all the Ascended items ASAP) and the fact that you only get 1 laurel a day means it doesn’t make a huge difference if you miss a day, but at least you’ve got something to aim for and a reason to do the dailies now.

The problem comes when people try to complete the daily, instead of just playing the game like they normally would. So they finished their daily 1 hour into playing the game, instead of finishing it 30 min before they log off. If you are just watching a bar go from 0-100%, then of curse it will become boring.

I very much enjoy the dailies, too. As someone with a character of each race, I find the “X kills/events in Y” a nice way to decide what I’m going to play for the day.

Agreed. Even on weekdays when I only have an hour or two to play I don’t do that.

I’ll usually look at the daily when I first get on to see if there’s anything easy or worth doing first. For example one day I logged into LA and was planning to head out to explore, then I noticed that doing a jump puzzle was one of the dailies, so I quickly did the short LA one before leaving.

But most things, especially the ‘kill/gather/craft so many whatevers’ I won’t even think about until about 20 mintues before I stop playing. Then I’ll check my progress and if I’m close to getting it done I’ll finish it off. If not I’ll forget it and try again the next day.

It’s the same as the other achievements really. If you looked at things like the slayer and weapon master titles when you first got the game it’d seem virtually impossible and incredibly boring. But if you forget about it and just play you’ll find yourself doing most of it without even trying. Then if you want to you can finish it off later.

I completely agree, OP! I love the new dailies. The daily achievement has always been something I really enjoyed, and I think the changes only made them better.

I think you all are right about the problem being how people approach the daily, which is a shame, really. It’s important to analyze our own attitudes toward the game ask ourselves, about our own approach to playing, “is it fun?” I think we all get too driven sometimes (myself included).

I challenge anyone to sit down, play the way they normally do, and then see how close they are to finishing the daily by the time they’re ready to log off. It’s almost always possible to get it without specifically trying, if we let ourselves do it the fun way instead of looking at it as more check boxes.

I like them too. I don’t have to do the ones I really don’t care for, but sometimes I must challenge myself to complete thew task. For someone playing as much as me that is always a good thing.

Though I did find it kind of funny this day in the lake at Queensdale. Killed 25 skales or barracudas with Warrior’s Spear, which gave me the aquatic slayer, conditions and most of Krytan kills at once.

I’m a big fan of the new dailies as well. And, at least for my playstyle, they seem to happen during my regular play much more than before. For example, before I usually had to go out of my way for the daily dodger and aquatic kills. Although it only took about 5-10 mins each, I still had to go out of my way. It doesn’t feel like that as much anymore.

I especially enjoy the variety; there wasn’t any ‘surprise’ to the old daily. For me, it is something to look forward to each day, and I don’t have a problem completing at least 5 of the choices..often more.
If it is something I do not normally do, it is nice to have a bit of a challenge, (not necessarily skill- or game-wise), and it has sometimes led me to explore parts of the game I probably wouldn’t have at this time.
So, yes, I share your enthusiasm, OP.

i can personally say the dailies have me playing a bit more. for a while i just jumped on one char and did the daily but with the different choices i tend to use two different chars to finish them takes me a bit longer but not that much of a hassle. i now do dailies while im trying to finish an area on my alts
