I feel stressed
It’s just a game, nothing will happen if you fail to get an achievement, or into an event, or even if you completely ignore the whole living story episode at all.
That said, something I told a friend that was near having a nervous breakdown because of guild drama in another game… it’s a game, nobody pays us to play, and when you get down to it, there’s absolutely no other reason for us to play other than to have fun, nothing else. If you’re getting stressed over the game, if it’s feeling like it’s more work than play, if you’re not having fun with it, I guess it is indeed time to take a break.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
It’s sad to say but i too feel that way… When i first began playing gw2 it was during beta and headstart, at that time i was playing on a fullscreen medium settings and had plenty of times to enjoy the game and have free time without losing anything from it, now after all the releases i’m stuck in best performance settings playing in a small window only to have my 20 fps at best with no time for other things or else i’ll be late for some achievs or some activities that will be nerfed/made harder because they’ve already been farmed by thousand people using tricks or exploit…
I was really excited for this update and when i saw that it was just a zergy-farm event i was “a bit” disappointed… i have to say though that i’ve yet to try out the dungeon and i hope it will be more fun than the rest of the event!
When it gets to the point that you are stressed, it’s time to either put the game down, or focus on the parts that aren’t stressful.
You should just not do the event if you aren’t enjoying it.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
I think their weird decision to increase the requirements to get the meta-achievements only makes the problem worse. I thought the previous way (for example, choose 10 out of 15 achievements to get your meta) was way better but the last two releases and Clockwork Chaos in particular went the opposite direction.
If they aren’t adding new achievements in the following weeks, people that want the tonic will have to complete 13 times a 45min event, and in 13 different maps!
I guess we can thank people that complained about LS not keeping their interest long enough?
EDIT:
Not posting again to avoid derealing the thread. Ty a lot for the info, I had not realized the daily ones counted towards the meta. You made my day, thanks!

There is a daily achievement that counts toward the Chaos Meta each day, so someone can get 14 of the needed achievement points that way, and only have to watch the speech or one of the others that are not too difficult and/or time-consuming. =)
Pace yourself. It’s actually easier to achieve some of this stuff if you wait a couple of days than if you try to do it all at once.
Take the holo-projectors from the Dragonbash event. You had to kill X numbers of holograms. Some people ran out and farmed projectors. The first couple of days, you had to really be on your toes. Because those guys spawned and went down so fast, people were complaining that you couldn’t get a hit on them half the time.
I didnt’ bother with them. I played Guild Wars 2 and ignored them. 3 days later, Anet had fixed them so the holograms stayed around longer and for the most part, people had their achievements and ignored them. And I still didn’t farm them.
I figured just running around the world, playing the way I always do, I could pop one every time I passed one. In less than a week, playing the game normally, I had every holo projector.
Same with pinatas. Everry time I went to LA I did a run. Maybe got 10-15. That was it. Done. Next time same thing.
By the end of the week, I was done. No grinding and very very little stress.
The new content requires you to do certain things, each of which take an hour, but none of which has to be done consecutively.
Pace yourself. It’s more fun for me to do this than to be done with all the content on day two anyway.
Between stress and boredom, stress is actually a good thing considering this is a game you paid for.
Neve. I feel exaclty the same every since the end of F&F I feel i am being suffocated by an endless barrage quick do it now content.
I know it mostly because of my own personality traits but it is stressing me, I have actually found my self paying gw1 more and more just to get a peaceful break.
Okay, I need a help.
I’m always trying To have all achievements, all events, all weapons I want (almost all) and I really enjoyed very much the Living stories ArenaNet gave us.
I’m an ex Gw1 hardcore player and with these two last Living stories I noticed that they stress me too much. I try To hurry, always, because we all like To complete Our achievement. Now we have free contents every two week but, If you considerate work, family and real life, you’ll NEED two weeks To complete this, and have no time at all To do all other things, like exploration, level up, dungeons, etc. 45minutes of pure farming, where people prefer To farm Aetherblades Champions and Let the Invasion Fail because they want their loot from them; and If i have Only few hours per evening To play and (for example) log in at 21.15 i lost 45 minutes of playing because eventi already started and I cannot enter it anymore . And the next Invasion maybe is in a map I’ve already made. Of course, in these days people that maybe have already made their achievement Keep farming Invasion instead of be free for events or dungeons. Plus all these drops ruin the economy. Now 100g is nothing for farmers and is still huge amount of money for a normal player. But I felt already bored of this living story, it don’t gave us anything but farming and once in game you will find Only farmers they will stop To play too because there’s none To sell things people don’t already have dropped with their farming. Also, I dont think farmers will buy gems cause they will already have a massive gold To transform in gems. I Just want to know if all living stories will be like this, or we gonna have something everyone can play easily and with more fun, less stress and less “omg new patch I MUST do it!!” (for a tonic, or a mini). I don’t know If it’s Only my feeling, but If we continue this way I must have a break from gw2 or my eyes and mind will hurt even more.Ps. I know someone will hate me but, Meh, It’s life.
As always, sorry for my english.
I was thinking the same thing. as far as pacing. What helped me was just to forget about it for awhile and I rolled an alt. The alt was able to do some of the achievements and I still had fun with just the basic old GW2 stuff.
You’re not alone, OP. There’s a fair number of us on these forums who have posted similar thoughts. Personally I kinda miss the days of early Flame & Frost when the Living Story content was easily completable in a single weekend, and then you had the rest of the month to get back to whatever it is you were doing. I imagine the people who only have a single main, have done all the rest of the game’s content and have nothing more to do are probably thrilled with the pace of new content, but it’s very draining for those of us with alts or newer players.
It’s also kind of spoiling the anticipation, where people would get all psyched up for big releases like Halloween or Wintersday. Having events that changed the world and put in new enemies was a novelty; now it’s happening every two weeks. It’s lost that special feeling.
I have to say I was a little intrigued about the 5 portal events achievement in my daily. My understanding is these events last approximately 45minutes and you have to get to each one early (~10minutes) to ensure you get in. So to do the one achievement for that day, you had to commit ~5hours to it. I immediately dismissed it as insanity. But the reality is thakittens a negative experience for players to get time gated to such an extreme and to fail to “achieve and achievement”. Anet really needs to learn from this. They need to promote positive experiences in their game, not negative ones.
I like that we can farm this event, i like that we don’t need too as well.
What i don’t like is the content is so limited you must wait every hour, you must wait a day if you’ve done a map, its just silly…if you join late your stuffed..
Also i’m still waiting for new parts of the world, balance fixes, new races and professions, new skills traits etc..
I feel the same way. I in particular find that new items doesn’t match income generated. I’ve been trying to collect all special minipets and get all achievements. That’s that. No legendary, no nothing. 1.500 hours logged and I’m worried I won’t make the new exotic minipets this time. For me (it’s ridiculous, i know), my collection is then incomplete and I might as well just stop collecting. Achievements are not a problem, but content vs reward is.
I have to agree with the OP. They really need to change the daily quests to give TWO ACHIEVEMENT POINTS EACH BUT ONLY LET YOU COMPLETE FIVE IN A DAY!
This way, no one misses out on achievement points, but we dont have to spend extra time trying for those extra dailies.
It’s a bit funny because when I do dailies I take about 40 mins. When I do the monthly, playing as casually as I do, I completed it in just over a week.
So there’s no overal goal for the rest of the month and the dailies get boring quickly in my view. It goes back to the point that in this game things are generally either too easy to get or too much of a grind to get. The balance is just off and for goal oriented people like myself it makes the game uninteresting.
