I find it funny (helping the dead)
This happens to me all the time. I cant just let a downed/dead player stay that way. Unfortunately, not everyone pays it forward. I have seen plenty of players who will walk right over downed players and do nothing. I have been snubbed several times myself. Because of this, I’m not sure if a system like that would be very helpful. It would tell you a player is coming, just for that player to breeze by without helping : (
Seems that lately there are more and more people that just step over you when you are downed. I have never left a player downed if I can get to them, but sadly not everyone is like that.
A nice feature would be to click on a downed player symbol on the mini map and it told them help was on it’s way, sadly there are those that would like this just so they can abuse it as well, clicking on the symbol and then just going on with what they were doing while having a good laugh at the poor person they feel big about just left sitting there waiting for that help that is not coming.
Shame though.
This is one reason I’d like to see players group up (both sticking together and being in a party) this way you’ll be a lot more effective playing the game, and you can count on someone having your back. It’s a lot easier to see their bar go down so you can start walking close to them (blinding, daze, enemies) and start reviving as soon as they go downed.
A lot of times I want to help someone who is downed but … first off, I can’t even see where the downed player is, because of all the animations and dead monster bodies. Then I finally find them and the Search pop-up came up six times before the revive pop-up. So I was just glad they weren’t dead yet, they still had their arm extended, but… instead I start reviving an NPC! So I try to move side to side trying to cancel the revive (practically the only way thou can cancel a revive, pretty kitten in my book, ArenaNet ), finally by the time I manage to revive the actual person, they’re dead already but the player knows it takes too long to revive a dead person, and leaves.
When I am downed, I ping the Bandage skill to /say chat, and hope they have chat bubbles enabled. Bit frankly? It doesn’t surprise me one bit that 99% of the time no one comes to help me, and I can’t help but not blaming them.

Be aware of the location and situation of defeated players as a very small amount of downed players are griefers.
Usually partied up with at least one other player who also has a twisted sense of fun by taking advantage of others kindness/generosity.,who might or might not be taking vid footage of the sad affair.
I’ve managed to have this happen once at the Overlords captains event location (without event going).Soon as I got to the defeated player and began a lengthy process to rez (guardian with bubble, rez run repeat) and had sufficient aggro of numerous mobs,he ports out. This was followed by lols and hahas from at least 3 different players in PM.
Won’t stop me from rezzing, but will make me think twice about the location of the downed player.

I have a tendency to resurrect most downed players by using the Warbanner elite skill that Warriors can use. I would say that 75% of my resurrects come from that ability alone.
As far as defeated players are concerned, I live up to that Combat Medic title and attempt to resurrect them. It just seems like the right thing to do … even if they just happen to be AFK. :|
I have yet to run into downed griefers that Temper has encountered though … probably because I’m also mindful of my surroundings. If they are surrounded by Champions and Veterans, that might be a bit too much to deal with.
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
It would be difficult to do what you want I would think.
How is a player to know that you’re “Friendly” and want to actually help them out? They “Could” just throw a medic icon above any nearby players on the minimap, however, that would get a bit annoying after a while, realizing there are so many icons on your minimap, yet, no one dares try to resurrect the downed player.
Though, it is an interesting idea, and I wouldn’t mind seeing some way of it being thought through, and implemented into Guild Wars 2. Perhaps, they could show the medic icon on your minimap, and the downed player could click on the icon, and it would send a message to someone asking if they could revive a player. Then a selection could pop up saying “yes”, or “no”, to indicate whether that player has time, or “wants” I should say, to help you out. This way the player who is downed would know that waiting it out wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Of course having popup notices would get annoying, so the stuff I am suggestion could just be through the chat box, so it becomes less annoying.
Of course, you still could get “Trolled”, when a player accepts, are notified they’re coming, and they just choose not to show up. It would be a tough system to implement, but a nice feature I would think.
Maybe if you get requested to save a downed/dead player, a small reward could be offered such as experience and gold, (not out of the downed players pockets of course), as more of an incentive to attempt at rescuing them.
Only Better…
I find it amusing that people will ‘troll’ by waiting til you get near then WPing, seeing as it costs to WP when you’re dead.
On a separate note I wish there was a button to deny rezzes. Can’t tell you how frequently I’ve died, gone to get some water or something, and come back to find all my armor broken from repeated rezzes
Yaks Bend
What I hate is people going afk in a hostile zone and I rez them and they’re naked rofl. Seriously, it takes 1 second to log out. DO IT.
The trolling really stinks. It won’t stop me from rezzing people. As a player it’s something I like doing and it goes with the rp of my character that goes on in my head. None of them would leave anyone in a bind.
Usually it’s easy to get to them but sometimes it’s a challenge. I like that challenge. It’s fun. An "I’m coming button’ would be great. Sometimes I try to send a tell so they don’t release as it is a pain to work at getting them just to see them disappear but I don’t let it bug me too much.
I do have a funny story though. I was speeding along and saw two blue circles so took a detour. It was an event. Saw the downed people near a vetran surrounded by half a dozen minions. "Ah this will be tricky,’ I thought. So I edge up near them hoping to not pull aggro. I revive one person and prepared to do the next when that now alive person ran forward to attack and pulled them all. Bam now I’m dead and he’s dead again. "Moron,’ I thought myself. Not to be stopped I released and ran back. I rezzed again and bam…the same thing. Gah! Okay now I’m determined. Release, run back and rez the other person. Maybe they’ll be smarter but no, they ran in too!
So I start typing out some instructions to politely explain that a good strategy was to get out of the way until both of them are rezzed so we can group and attack together.
Clickity clack, clickity clack…..
Oh…
Wait….
They’re NPCs…..
facepalm
Who is the moran now? lol
