I was doing the group event in Snowden Drifts where a Kodan Wise Keeper is escorted to an Icebrood cave and a Corrupted Kodan bursts out of it. After killing it, he dropped a Gilded Lockbox for me, which contained none other than a level 80 exotic greatsword, Crystal Guardian. The weirdest part is that I’m not level 80, I’m 23.

I asked about the sword in general chat and I got a mix of helpful info and others saying I was lying (what would be the point?) but some felt it would be a cool idea to share it on the forums.

Here’s a screenshot of it, and the combat log showing that I looted it (and a few other less noteworthy items) from the Gilded Lockbox. It looks really cool.

Has anyone else received this? I was very, pleasantly, surprised.

EDIT: I also do not have any level 80 characters. My highest is 28.

Base on what people is saying if you opened exotic champ bag with lower level character. You still have a chance on receiving lvl80 exotic.

Is the Gilded lockbox you receive exotic?

Named exotics are always lvl 80. Gratz.

There’s chance for getting 80 exotic on char lower than 80, it happened to me before as well. Wish it happened more often

Maybe he bought the game a long time ago, played a bit, take a long break, and come back again.

Heh, that was me that suggested adding it to the wardrobe to make a good-looking crappy sword.

I played from early access for a month. Life happened and I left the game for 2 years. I came back a month or so ago.

Things like this happen.

laokoko is correct, I played when the game came out to around 41, and reset my account (deleted that character, in other words) to start fresh. Came back with the new build. Glad to hear this isn’t some anomaly, haha. It’s a really cool sword.

EDIT: I don’t recall if the Lockbox was exotic as well, it was of course consumed when I opened to find that sword.

Yes it can happen , i remember getting the sword Bonetti’s Rapier and the shortbow Stardust from the old Queensdale champions train with a low level character .. you can get lvl 80 stuff with champions bags/box/pouch

Regardless if you tell the truth or not. you can get level 80 Named Exotics in Exotic level Champion Loot bags regardless of your personal level. You can also get T6 crafting mats. I’ve had it happen quite a bit myself during the CP when I was leveling a toon doing Boss Blitz. I got many level 80 Exotics and T6 mats on a toon that never got over level 65.

It happens, I’ve had it happen as well. There’s a small chance to loot named exotics from champion bags, they’ll always be level 80 regardless of character level. I got the mecha anchor hammer once from a champion bag I got at the queensdale champion train (RIP) at a level 20 character.
