I heard a weird rumor about GW2.
Stop reading TenTonHammer’s "premium" rumours, the only advice I have for this thread.

Haven’t even heard of that. I heard this in guild. I’m kind of curious to see if this has spread at all as silly as it sounds.
Hahahahahahahahah.
Seriously?
Would someone even believe rumors like this?
We have no real numbers but we know that there are several teams of devs working on different parts of the game.
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Just look at the scope and scale of the fire and frost content or super adventure box.
The sheer amount of assets (sound, music, voiceovers, models, texture art, animation, support material like concept art, videos etc) is staggering, the dev team actively working on GW2 must be huge
Garnished Toast
ArenaNet got well over 300 employees.
Well it makes sense… they have no plans for an expansion and all the content we have heard of is made by small teams of 3-5 devs. I highly doubt they have 300 people working on GW2 based on the amount of content we’ve been getting.
If they were working on an expansion that would explain why they have so many people but put out so little content, but based on what they themselves have told us that isn’t true, so it seems logical to me.

Oh, so that just because WE don’t see new stuff that means they are not doing new stuff?
There are most likely LOADS of stuff that have been changed/added since release without them telling us about every single thing.

But only two developers, they others are farming gold in the basement.
Are we really to believe a developer as big as ArenaNet, whose bread and butter was releasing regular boxed games is not working on a boxed game? No matter how well gems sell, I doubt NCSOFT opened their production schedule and put in “paid vacation” for the entire year of 2013.
A game this size couldn’t function with a couple of developers. We’ve seen more than a couple of developers, different developers in interviews and several articles on the blog are written by others.
It’s a stupid rumor. I can’t see why anyone would believe. it.
Aside from that, Anet is part of NCsoft which is a publicly held company. No big company would lay off staff without announcing it as they could get into serious trouble. If it were announced somewhere, it would be in the news and we’d have heard…the same way everyone knew about the layoffs at EA over SWToR and everyone knew about the layoffs at TSW.
And how easy is it to start a rumor on the web. Anyone can say anything. But if you check the Anet webpage, they’re hiring. You don’t your entire staff while hiring.
Well, there’s this: http://www.arena.net/
and this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArenaNet
From the looks of this information, I would guess at more than 2 devs.

Don’t be naive. Expansions will be a big source of revenue for them. Of course they’re working on expansion content. It’s probably what the bulk of the studio is working on. They downplayed expansions a couple of months ago because they wanted people focusing on the living story content. They want hype about the monthly updates, not an expansion that’s still maybe a year off.
i heard a rumor that there is a private server called guild flaws 2. haven’t found it yet tho. might be interesting to look at though.
Don’t believe in internet rumors
This all started because it was said there was only two Developers actively working on PvP only. This does not mean there is only two Developers overall. It just means there is two who only work on PvP. But that also doesn’t mean there is only two for PvP either. Other Developers still contribute to the PvP maps and other stuff as well, but there is two of them who are dedicated to just PvP, while others are spread out amongst the entire game.
This is how pretty much all games work. There is always a few dedicated to each section of the game specifically, while others work on all aspects of the game.
So ignore the rumors. People seem to have a knack for manipulating the truth.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
They might have mixed it up with Guild Wars 1.
Which is still running and is being maintained by a skeleton crew. I’m not sure how many people exactly but it’s a very small team, with occasional help borrowed from the GW2 team.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Has anyone heard the rumour about Anet working on GW3? It’s set 1000 years after GW2 with laser gun wielding charr, driving plasma firing hover tanks. The final battle will be against the almighty toastedsandwichmancer!
I can’t wait!!!!

While we normally don’t respond to rumors, this one is so far off base, that I’ll go ahead and clearly state it is 100% incorrect… by a long shot. :P
