…and I’m okay with that. Actually, I’m kinda glad. I’ve been doing WvW on and off when I was bored and just didnt feel very successful at it. Today I came upon this guide: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw2TnwV1r2mpNzFNRDZwakV2SFk/view?pli=1

I read though it and it finally hit me. WvW is not the game I want to play. I always thought it was about large scale PVP battles. Well, its not. Its about a complicated set mechanics and strategies. And that’s cool! Its just not for me.

I’m pretty sure I’m just a PvE player that likes to dabble in action packed PvP. I will likely just fill my PvP itch in the PvP bouts rather than WvW. I’m a little sad that less complex large scale WvW or RvR isnt in my future, but at least I know now to avoid it rather than take up a spot in the WvW queue and fail miserably at it.

So, what is your take on WvW? Does my story sound familiar? Have I got it all wrong? I’d love to hear your $0.02.

I’m okay with it too, never much liked pvp anyway. The only real (for me) problems I have with it are that it is necessary for map completion for a legendary (same problem in reverse that dedicated pvp’rs have) and that it needs to be used for porting to LA because of map travel costs. At least Arenanet should give us a recall to home city or LA so that we don’t have to take up that spot in WvWvW from people who actually want to be there.

You could just travel to the heart of the mists by clicking on the icon at the top left of your screen and then running forward for about 5 seconds in which you can use the LA portal right there.

On topic though, I’ve no idea how the OP does WvW in general but really it just involves sticking with the commander (hopefully if it’s a good one) and listening to his/her orders closly, not chasing down 1 random guy that just happened to be near by with a couple other people thats thirsty for a gank kill, WvW is the most fun when doing it with a group of 5-10 at least for camp/tower defense or a good organised guild to properly defend things like keeps and pull off proper attacks.

Ive thoroughly enjoyed the ascension of Sanctum of Rall from #17 to #2 in the overall rankings, however, this week is our first in Tier 1 and I am a bit taken back

We lost our home BL last night to the combination of 7 Omegas, 22 Superior Trebs and 5 Superior Cats. While the fights were amazing and immensely enjoyable its hard to look veyond the fact that someone paid $200 to take a keep that we just retook 15 minutes later.

There is no way I can compete with that kind of investment.

Peetee, now you know what Storm Bluff Isle had to deal with when we were in Tier 1. Now that I have moved to Tarnished Coast, I find it hilarious that we are currently beating my old server.

WvWvW is all about how much dedication and funds you want to put into it. Repair costs, upgrades, and siege weapons are all heavy investments. To top it all off, having a guild that heavily invests in WvW can make a big difference as well. Which makes sense because the game is called “Guild Wars 2” after all.

(Yes I know that is not the real reason why it is called GW2…)

On topic, where the heck is that document you read, Oaken? Did you save a copy of it?

XOXO

I’ll try that in the future. I did go to the mists once and their was some tutorial thing going on, ran up to the portal but it wasn’t labelled so I figured it went to the real PVP area.

…and I’m okay with that. Actually, I’m kinda glad. I’ve been doing WvW on and off when I was bored and just didnt feel very successful at it. Today I came upon this guide: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw2TnwV1r2mpNzFNRDZwakV2SFk/view?pli=1

Oaken, that document link you put in is unavailable to me…and apparently some other folks as well. If I understand how Google Docs work, you have to have an account and be signed in for access.

Is there any other way you can provide that information?
