I just vendored a Gift of Fortune and Mastery
You could have made a different legendary and sold it…what a waste.
lol ikr?
15 char :P
Well the “old” ones will still use these components, and you’ll be able to get current precursors from the scavenger hunt too.
So even if the only “old” legendary you like is The Juggernaut, you could obtain another legendary without buying/forging a pre and with the gifts already done. And you could’ve sold it to earn back some of the costs, too.
If you want to, try to contact CS to get the gifts back. I think you acted emotionally and impulsively and made a mistake- you lost an opportunity to get that money back.

here is what u do now take those 12 silver 80 copper and buy urself some Strong Norn Ale and drink it all at once
There are some people who have “sold” their mastery/fortune by having someone else give them the mats, then crafting a legendary, and then giving it to the person who wants the legendary in exchange for a gold fee. The gold fee covers the cost of the mastery/fortune.
Lol. Should have made one of the old one’s. Sold that, then used that gold for a jump start on the new one’s.
But hay, your loss.

either way, legendaries are useless.
do not get me wrong, they look cool and all, but as far i understand with the new system we are forced to go in pvp and play that to be able to make a “new” legendary weapon… sigh. yeah forced.

From what the OP said, he doesn’t care for their functionality and use- otherwise he would’ve kept the gifts and made something useful for his character. He was going for a legendary for their looks.
Also, apparently the PvP gifts will be tradeable on the TP. So you aren’t forced to go into PvP if you don’t want to.

/sigh, just like we pvpers/wvwers have been forced to step into pve for the last 3 years in order to make a legendary…
May our BL break all foes. Fear our babou!

I don’t believe you.
lol.In an MMORPG why?
These games change on the flip of a coin. A few months down the track who knows what mechanics could be implemented to cater to you, trading these to a vendor for HoT equivalents or more substantial rewards could very much be part of that.
Also who says you might not hate the new skins and come to prefer an old one later down the road?
Also…
I don’t believe you.
This is why I never craft legendary components until I am 100% sure of the legendary I’m going to craft. And even then, I still don’t craft the gifts until I have what I need to finish the legendary.
The reason for this is because:
1: Gifts take up bank space, while mats can just sit happily in your collection, out of the way until they need to be used…
…and…
2: I might change my mind further down the line before I complete the legendary. I can’t sell gifts if that’s the case, but I can sell the mats.
Frankly though, even if you made the mistake of crafting the gift of might and fortune already, I have no idea why you’d be impulsive enough to sell them for a few silvers (we’re talking gifts worth a few hundred gold here). That just seems overboard to me, and, to some extent, unbelievable, especially when you could have just as easily bought a cheap precursor, made a legendary and sold it to recover the cost.
As mentioned by others, both gifts still had value and you could have regained some of that value by finishing a legendary and selling it.
Also this:
I don’t believe you.
Well, that can’t feel too good. Why man?

Nope, I don’t either.
Vendoring them was just plain silly. If you were wiling to go to the trouble to make a Legendary anyway, you should have finished one up and sold it and gotten more back than the vendor value.
ANet may give it to you.
Uh… you don’t know if they could be used for something in the future. What if legendary armor requires them or something else in some capacity. Why make such a rash decision to sell something so valuable?
Cool story bro, I’m sure the Darwin awards will welcome you into their hall of fame.
DPS Benchmarks, Raids, Low-mans etc.
Well that was a silly idea. You could have easily made and sold one of the underwater legendaries- the gifts you sold are the hardest and most expensive part!
Or are you still one of those delusional people who thinks crafting one of the new legendaries won’t cost any gold? Because the 1000+ or so you would have gotten back would have helped a lot there.
Why would you do that???
you do realize that the old ones need these gifts right????
There is only 3 new ones for now anyways lol…. and you can grind for them side by side with old ones….
You literally just threw away tons of gold + the time you took to grind these gifts….
Ya you may not want any of the old ones but still…. who says you can’t make more ? you really satisfied with just juggernaut? you have NO other weapon you play with lol?? ya ….
you messed up big time and threw away a lot of time and money… no offense, but that was just dumb
Well joke is on you. You destroyed 500+ gold of profit.
On a similar note, I just threw out the baby with the bath water.
I know it was not the best decision, but afterall the water was dirty, right, RIGHT!
Well, the vendor thanks you.

This is mostly OP’s fault. You created items completely based on speculation. Nobody forced you to make the Gifts. If anything, you should have gathered the mats and then waited to see if you really wanted to combine them into gifts. At least that way, most of them would have been able to be sold back. You took a risk and you got burned. Get over it.
I got a Gift of Battle months ago on the off chance I might need it. I guess I’ll delete it even though I could use it now if I wanted and I have no idea of whether or not I can use it later.
ANet may give it to you.
lol, same situation here except that i didn’t vendor the gifts. was looking forward to make the new legendary staff. turns out it won’t be using the same component. so i made myself a Bifrost. still thinking what to do with it though.
Archeage = Farmville with PK
A legendary isn’t just a skin its also a stat-swapable ascended, and you could of sold the legendary. Either way I don’t know who in the right mind would even dream of vendoring these, but that’s me.
Screenshot or it never happened.

Even that would be no proof, since you can buy back items from vendor until you switch maps. He would have to make a video of it to proof he changed maps without buying them back :P
And even then he could probably ask the customer support to restore them.
Gets mad at anet releasing cool new content in a way that makes player work towards it in a different way instead of and endless gold grind.
You might as well delete your guild if you have one because they’re adding new stuff to that also lmao
OP submit a ticket right now and get those gifts back! Never throw something “useless” away in an MMO, especially not something that took so much time to make!
Personally, I’m chuffed to bits with my Bolt and glad that there might actually be a use for it on my Warrior at last :P
Couldn’t help but remember this ridiculous thread upon reading the twitch notes.
“Gift of Fortune/Gift of Exploration not being used in new legendaries. Gift of Exploration is for map completion in Central Tyria and not required for new legendaries which require only world complete in the new HoT zones. After HoT ships, we will be add a salvage table for Gift of Fortune so you can salvage the parts and get back all the components you can put in the new Mystic of Fortune.”

I have 16 Gifts of Exploration. They should let me salvage them for, ohhhhh, 4 million exp each. ^^
ANet may give it to you.
Interestingly enough I guess this also confirms the need for all those same mats again.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
