And I can’t tell if they’re from real people or what. People I don’t know are sending me a letter in all lower case and include one small random item in them. I accepted the first two thinking it was just coincidence. But just now I got a third saying “Good Luck” and containing a Soft Wood Log.

I think I’ll just send those back now. |8

If it’s the same person sending you random items, block that person and they won’t be able to send you mail any more.

Either way, it’s kinda strange and creepy!

Three different names, in any case. No way to tell from just the letter. The first two were one hour apart.

You should turn this into a great GW2 ghost story somehow.

You could just message the people and ask. If they do/say something bad, you can always report them.

It could be some sort of in-joke in a random guild, and one of your toons has a very similar name to the intended recipient.

Personally I’d go. OOh Free things! and move on. I do occasionally send my friends random notes like “EPIC LOOT” and inside is a black lion chest or a minor sigil or something.

I never get creepy messages in game…must be exciting getting mail! haha

Well, at least it was nice and poetic-like.

You can add the name of the sender as a friend. Check your friends list before you do so in order to make it easier to verify which one just got added (also do it just as a letter arrives while you are playing, thus they should be online). Add a note to the name to remind yourself they are the mail sender. A different name each time doesn’t mean a different account.

Then you can figure out if it’s harmless foolishness or if someone really is trying to mess with you; in the latter case you can block or even report.

I used to get some strange letters when the game was just released. Mostly these were people saying they started from other games and was so and so. Obviously I had never played said games, or knew who they were. They never addressed a name on the letter so I had no idea how they mistakenly mailed me. So I would just mail them back saying they mailed the wrong person. Never got a response though so never figured out if I had a similar name to another person or something. I’m sure some were kind of embarrassed though. Since some were kinda personal. :/

Never had any items attached. But if you really are unsure who it is. I’d just return the items.

This sounds like a good RP plot idea to me!

Sometimes it’s cases where people right-clicked on a name in chat to send them a mail, intending to give it to a friend or guildie, but they clicked on the wrong one.

One time I got a mail from a stranger with about 20 various T6 mats inside. Luckily for them, I was nice and mailed it back saying they sent it to the wrong person.

I always mail random crap to my friends, like aetherkeys.

I’ve actually started a trend where friends and I just mail random garbage to each other for the hell of it/trolling. :P

someone sent me a bag of crafting salt  o_o  and told me to check my sodium levels
oh, and then i saw the person one time standing outside a dungeon.. i think it’s just something to do out of boredom and even more so with the huge ‘this was sent by a player’ subtext in the mail system

Some people from my old guild, myself included, used to send cheap items to the members, specially one player, as joke. Besides that people already mailed me random stuff, players that I never saw before, but I always send them back. Blues, greens, rares, 2 exotics once and 10g. It is worth the mention the gold was sent more than year ago, before the dungeons revamp, when was incredible hard to hoard 100g.

I don’t know if you’ll believe me but there is a legendary figure, a tall lanky guy dressed all in yellow, named Mr. Butters. Don’t know what server he is on but I saw him once in an overflow during a season 1 LS event, and people have talked about him here on the forums before. But he literally sends a single stick of butter to pretty much everyone he sees, except in the case of giant events like when I saw him.

I once saw a guy named “Donald McRonald” who, yes, was the spitting image of a certain famous clown.

And yes, he did send me a Cheeseburger and Fries when I asked him about it. XD
