In the living story today, there was an “out of place” dialogue option in the beginning of the episode.

It was basically asking about Marjory’s greatsword and how she was training with it and how Rox, who is a ranger (and rangers do use greatswords), is training with her.

A class learning about a weapon set they can’t use.

Maybe its just me.

I read it too but I thought it just meant Majory was learning battle stances, not necessarily how to wield a gs.

Marjory specifically stated it was sword practice, so yea.

They’ve been setting it up over the past couple of LS releases and it really does suggest that they’re going to open up alternate weapons for the professions.

At the very least Necros are getting GS’s… But I’m sure they’ll let each profession use a weapon they couldnt before.

The other possibility is that Marjory’s profession is going to change. I think it’s less likely, but it is possible. (And before someone says it doesnt make sense, it is possible and has happened in the lore of the game before.)

“She [Rox] learned when she was in school, and she knows a ton about battle stances. I’m learning a lot. I plan to keep at it.”

The English language permits a reading in which Majory is helping Rox with Rox’s sword skills while learning battle stances herself. A stretch? Maybe. But not out of the question.

But we’ve seen Marjory using the sword all through the previous release, including watching her attacking the dummies in the Pact base in the Silverwastes. Sure you could read it as a syntactical ambiguity, but the visual evidence points to it being exactly how most people are interpreting it: She’s using a GS now and she’s learning how to use it from Rox.

NPC’s do not follow the same rules as PC’s. Trahearne, for instance, was/is a necro/mesmer/pita.

Incidentally, Trahaerne is also a GS using necro now.

Rytlock uses an offhand pistol. Either Warriors will get pistols one day…. Or… Rytlock is really a Thief… who is just too awesome to use stealth.

That kind of symbolism and suggestion means nothing to Anet.

By that logic, so are some PCs. All, if you consider Caladbolg similar to a semi-permanent sylvari variant of FGS.

Well to be fair all Charr have the hidden pistol skill So I wouldn’t count that as anything special.
