Not seeing the magnitude you’re talking about. Even at 100% crit change that ‘nerf’ is only roughly a 12% dps loss. I think the FGS/Frostbow buff makes up for that.

well people asked for a less zerk dependent game and we got it. LOL

You got the opposite. Zerkers are more important than ever now, there is less room for slack in the meta groups.

Im not upset with this, because everyoen is nerfed. Zerk got nerfed pretty badly though, my friend also lost close to 40% crit damage.

Welcome to the club, condition damage builds have been suffering that much since before Nov 2012 back when they nerfed it globally and never fixed it, this was before their balance team separated the values for PVP and PVE.

I’ve watched their changes videos and they said they added some new traits for healing specs as well! It’s about time.

Bravo balance team bravo! Keep up the good work!

I too have a zerker build thief and you know what I’m going to do? Take all the karma I earned and buy a different set.

This is basically what I was thinking.

I just went to Orr and started whacking stuff.

I seemed to be doing around the same damage as always, and I have full zerk w/ Scholar runes.

I roam in full zerker and scholar runes, and I just went to EBG to check out my damage… it’s definitely a noticeable and pretty severe damage cut. For PVE this changes nothing but especially for WvW this just makes soldier gear zergs and condi bunker roamers all the more effective. The entire WvW meta has been catering to tanky zergs for a while, but this pushes roaming into the same boat.

This is just wrong for wvwvw, now everyone will just go condi bunker roamer, before you could choose to roam as zerker or condibunker, now its just better going condibunker, pve changes killing wvwvw aspects as always.

If full-zerker thieves face-roll you then I assure you they are not the problem. Glass-cannon thieves that don’t know what they’re doing are basically fodder unless you are also terrible.

I personally dont really see the logic behind this nerf either, at least for PvE. I mean, I get what they’re trying to do but…

The optimal setup in any game, even if you’re a tank is to take the bare minimal survival for your healer to not die from exhaustion, aggro generation (which could also mean DPS) such that the boss doesn’t peel off you and then pile whatever you got left to rack up DPS to make the runs shorter.

And that’s exactly what’s going on here. As long as you keep encounters the way they are, people who min-max will just pump much as they can into DPS no matter how hard you nerf it.

Im not upset with this, because everyoen is nerfed. Zerk got nerfed pretty badly though, my friend also lost close to 40% crit damage.

Remember that 150% is the base critical hit damage. The closer a zerker is to it, the least advantage they have over someone wearing little to no ferocity gear.

Zerker playstyle gave up on defensive stats to get a superior crit damage over soldiers / knights / rampager people. And even then it was not that rewarding because being glassy allowed enemy meat shields to also hit them for a decent amount of damage (while also being very vulnerable to other zerkers). Now the tradeoff is non existent and condition builds are even more powerful. One of the reasons why I enjoyed this game’s combat was the huge numbers. Pve or pvp, it feels great to see those 5k – 10k hits, Now we’r lucky to even hit over 7k. No more instadowning people, now it’s all about them meat shields mauling each other for 5 minutes before someone drops.

What awful balancing. Forget the bias and zerker hate because they kicked you or because of elitism. This isn’t how you balance a game. This is the beginning of the end for gw2 if they don’t at least let us re-select our ascended gear stats.

I ran 3 Wup Wup pieces of gear and 3 Berserker pieces of gear pre patch and had much more critical damage due to the higher crit dmg of the wup wup gear on head, chest and pants. Pre patch when hitting for upwards of 8K on a backstab build, and 5K on bow Cluster Bomb, now I hit for a little less than 5K backstab and 3K on bow. In WVW my ferocity is showing 1068 with Crit Dmg at 221% but the numbers are not matching up.

The other thing that is wierd is that ferocity replaced critical damage but runes of divinity which added critical damage have no ferocity now.

You may have lost 37% crit damage, but it was only a 14% reduction – making their announced 10% damage reduction number still seem tame and on point. If you didn’t see this happening, you’ve likely been living under a rock for the past month.

Wow…10-15% decrease in damage output and it is now impossible to kill
anyone…and not being able to one shoot stuff…the horror……..
Btw I did some WvW after the patch and I didn’t see a big difference.
Zerker still does a kittenload of damage,and bunkers can still melt
when zerked properly.

You didnt weigh that against crit chance.

with 0 crit chance its a 0% loss in dps

at 100% crit chance its a 37% dps loss

I know a lot of builds idle around 90%.

or maybe my math is really bad, it probably is. Why cant we just have DPS meters Anet?

Just over 10 percent. And a significantly smaller actual dps number loss to a pure zerker, since it is 10 percent of a smaller number.

Considering the lower power, players in WvW are less likely to go full into toughness traitline. It’s their way of knocking off all the high survivability builds when now you can use less points and get the same survivability as before, but with more damage.

before 45% of the time he would hit for 90% more damage.

say he hits for 100 every time, thats 100 + 45% of 90, roughly 42? 142 dps

now, at 43% crit damage 45% of the time, he does 100+45% of 43 ~21 or 121 dps

121×100/142 ~15%, but thats a case of someone who is obviously not full zerker. As the numbers would most likely be 70-90% crit and 200+ critical damage. resulting in a much higher dps loss.

I guess it depends on how much crit you have.

In order to lower instadowners they killed almost any balanced build.

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
