I'm finding it difficult to find groups to go through content
On a Monday morning.
Go figure?
Well, it is Monday morning. I think a lot of people are at work or school. Wait a little while.
On Anvil Rock, it’s Monday morning, time to go to work for most folks.
In any mmo, it’s better to bring your own party, rather than shouting for PUGs. If you usually like playing Monday morning, you need a friends list of people who run dungeons on Monday mornings. Hint: they don’t even need to be on Anvil Rock.
A lot of the overflow came from:
a) the weekend of free trial invites
b) all players being focused into a very few zones for the event
Also, I think you will find that dragon hunting has become much less populated due to fractals giving much better loot on a much shorter cooldown.
It’s going to get a lot worse.

Say how it’s not getting worse.
Have you seen the people outraged.
I would be logged in right now but I’m not.
As stated, it is absolutely- empirically – no argument – no way out of it – no workaround – positively – most assuredly – going to get worse.
The people that aren’t playing now are just the first cycle. As players see less people, they will also go. It has happened in every MMO that made drastic changes like this. This company name does not make them immune to it. Their IP is not strong enough to survive betrayal, no one is immune from that backlash and eventual avoidance.
The hyperbole is strong with this one.

In this case I have a feeling once people actually understand what FOTM is about and actually try it out, It won’t be a problem.
Just because its a monday morning, doesnt mean the servers should be literally ghost towns, theres no excuse. Been in plenty of mmo’s where monday mornings there were PLENTY of people on.

You can’t be serious.
And since you’ve edited your post, I will edit mine. As a 6 year subscriber to WoW Monday mornings in even there do NOT have “plenty of people on.”
Not even close.
So your saying, the population is that small? lol

Hope you didn’t shoot your foot on that statement (LOL). Anyways, @karma, it is because the game is catered towards a population that would more than not…have school and work during these hours that it’s more or less…not as populated. It’s not an excuse but maybe some people who are taking paid days off or a year off from school are on a different server? Who knows.

Not even in WoW, playing on one of the most populated servers did a monday morning not feel empty
There is also the issue that this is Thanksgiving week and some people are already gearing up for travel. The local college is having their last day of classes and having everyone leave the campus by tomorrow night. That makes for some very busy people who might otherwise be playing.

That is sad lol, lol a server SHOULD be populated 24 hours a day, if its not supposed to why not shut the server down at 10 o clock at night? ^^, this is such a shame.

no im not trolling, that was just a sarcasm, what im saying is, a server should have plenty of people on 24 hours a day, so that certain night when you just can’t sleep at night? there will allways be party’s in dungeons waiting for you.

What server you on? because i would gladly leave anvil rock, that server is the armpit of GW2.

Hm…I think what you want isn’t people on, but I guess a group that you can party with for dungeons aka more sole-able content? Heroes (npcs that you can party with from what I heard about in gw1), would be a nice addition imo. But if you just want people running around…Idk man, that’s kinda hard to ask for given that Anet has not control over that lol

And I’m saying you’re wrong because what is currently the largest MMO out there (WoW) has major cities that are just empty at that time on a Monday. There is a reason they do their maintenance on Tuesday mornings.
People work. People go to school. It’s not a prime time. This is why a lot of people join servers in different time zones if they work nights, for instance.

Btw, you both should mentioned your timezones just in case if you decide to move @karma.

This is most likely just an issue of perception. Some people undoubtably have moved on, but I don’t think it will immediatly be noticable even if it ends up being a large number. It will most likely just trickle down slowly, if it does at all.

No i just want to beable to run the new FotM dungeon, and when i am throwing shouts out saying “LFG FotM level anything” and map chat is completetly dead, and no answers……thats saying something, shouldnt matter if it is a monday morning lol.
Hmmm yet I can log into WoW at anytime and use their dungeon finder and within 1 to 10 minutes I have a group. Stop apologizing for this game. It isn’t the players fault that ArenaNet won’t give them the tools they need to play the game instead of standing around and waiting.
Just because its a monday morning, doesnt mean the servers should be literally ghost towns, theres no excuse. Been in plenty of mmo’s where monday mornings there were PLENTY of people on.
Actually I am in game now with map chat on in L.A., and there’s lots of calls for PUG FotM of a wide variety of levels. I’m on overflow so I don’t know what server it is, but suffices to say, if you want a PUG (ugh), there’s a bunch of friendless players eager to take you on.
There is also the issue that this is Thanksgiving week and some people are already gearing up for travel. The local college is having their last day of classes and having everyone leave the campus by tomorrow night. That makes for some very busy people who might otherwise be playing.
The counter is many kids have the entire week off, so they could have much more time to play.

The scary thing about this thread is… these are the same excuses, I mean answers, that many of the player base gave when the SWTOR servers started dying.
Nice try. SWOTR was a ghost town when it first went live. Very heavily instanced. Plus there was a monthly fee, and not many really wanted to play for a single player design.
GW2 is not that. Its not even close. So the same arguments don’t work here.
You guys you preach gloom and doom would make a great asset to the political arena. Your talent for focusing the public’s attention on issues that aren’t there, trying to stir up frenzy are quite impressive. Try this on a Saturday night, not a Monday morning, you might be more convincing.
Just logged in, 4 servers medium, a couple full, and the rest high…

Agreed.
I’ve been hearing that this game has been dying since right after the three-day headstart, when people initially didn’t research what the game was supposed to be like. From there, every week, there’s some new reason why the game is dying.
First, it was dying because there was no gear treadmill and the game needed that to survive. Then it was dying because there was a possible gear treadmill and no game needs that. Some people are never happy. It cracks me up.
I’m in overflows so much on my server that I don’t even accept the queue anymore, I just stay in the overflow.

You have no idea do you?
There were massive q’s in tor up into 6+hours to get onto servers. A ghost town really…
try harder. (yes exact same postings as well)
Just because you dont like what is being said doesnt mean there isnt a point.
I really like it when people dismiss stuff as rabble rowsers.
Concurrent online map zone population is an issue like it or not. I would suggest next time not dismissing peoples feedback out of hand.
OP check and see what are better servers and maybe find a guild as well that may help.
Why do all these ‘my server is dead!’ posts come up on monday mornings when everyone is at work or school?
I’m thinking Anet needs to find a way to keep this forum open to only those who actively play the game. To many trolls who haven’t played since the first week spending all their time on the forums screaming about crap.
This game has something that all others don’t. Its high quality and its free to play.
You must not realize how intelligent they were with this decision.
Take me for example… I played GW2 since its release and all I ever did was WvW, so naturally I burned out on it. It got to the point where I didn’t want to play this game AT ALL. Now if there had been a subscription fee involved, I probably would have canceled my account.
But instead I just took a break and didn’t play for a while, and then the thought occurs…“hey, there is no subscription fee to renew, Ill just open up GW2 and give it another shot”
And here I am having fun again. That is what will make this game survive. You can put it down and pick it right back up and there is no account subscription, renewal, money paid or anything involved.
And I think with PvE content patches like FoTM dungeon that just came out… along with some bug fixes, WvW content, people are going to realize that they have a superior MMO on top of it.
But I have been playing video games and MMO’s for a very long time now, and I see the same trend repeat itself over and over.
New competition gets released, and then suddenly its like some massive forums troll cannon zeroes in and fires all of its trolls at the new games forums.
So I guess forgive me if I see some repetition going on in your comments as well.
Tyria is rather dead-like in a lot of the lowbie zones, especially if you stray far from L.A.
But I’m always getting overflow to L.A., so there’s still a decent amount, even on Monday during typical working hours. How many hours are your wvw queues.
SWTOR and GW2 comparison is apt. Neither require a monthly sub anymore. Both have players complain there’s no fun after leveling. Um…
GW2 dead? There’s a lot of descriptors you can use to describe it. Buggy. WAAAY too long queues for wvw. I gave up on getting into the same overflow as most of my guild for the krapka event. But it’s too dang crowded to be considered dead.
@Narkosys massive queues in Tor? That’s simply not true. But this is exactly my point. Let’s spread disease on the forums in an effort to get people not to play. That’s what you and the OP are doing. GW2 is fun, I’m having a blast. There are people everywhere. I never have an issue. If you do, try something more to your liking. But stop trying to get people to quit.
I think players are getting smarter, realizing the forums are just for entertainment. I never hear any of the doom and gloom in game that I see here. So, of course I’m dismissive of this ridiculous whining. What point does it serve?
@Xaielao exactly about the forum usage. I think Anet needs to either give access to those who actually play, or make forum time a store purchase, because the amount of lies about game-death, massive people quitting, game not lasting 2013, is out of hand. The huge posts about Ascended gear and broken trust- I’ve never heard anything like it before, the amount of hatred.
My opinion is either shut this forum down and allow communities who really have something valuable and constructive to say to create their own forums, or charge via gem or playtime, however it works. Or even display level under the person’s nick, so we can see if they actually play. This forum is turning into a pit, mostly from those who logged in once or twice, and there’s absolutely no reason for it.
Its a beautiful game, it has exciting content, the one-time events are great. There are some issues and bugs in any game, and I’m not saying we can’t discuss them. But let’s be a little more realistic. Most of the whining isn’t from people who have issues, its from people who want to see this fail. I think its about time we do something about it.
I’ve been playing again since the 16th, various times of the day on from Friday to Sunday, and from 31 to 50 on my guardian, every zone was deserted. There were DEs everywhere that were abandoned. I end up having to solo all of them. If i’m lucky, there might be one other person there or on the way.
Went to hang out in Queensdale and Plains of Ashford to see if i could get a storymode group for a change. Both of them were deserted around the dungeon enterances.
Most of the group DEs that weren’t done very often before like Kol in Harathi Highlands are now undoable.
Its not really unexpected. Everybody is either just starting or at end-game/Fractals, but its hardly a case of just “Its monday morning”
its “also” a case of monday morning.
and personally i find the game/world gets much more
flavorful when zones are more empty.
i hated it at first when 20 people were kittening every champions and events.
now, you have to be more careful.
and you WILL come across other players, you can join up with them.
2-3 people are enough to do 99% of the events, and these grouping up are super memorable.
