On the idea of using the Fractals as a storehouse to bring back old content that should have never been temporary to begin with. For one, it doesn’t really seem to fit the more generic nature of the other fractals. For two, it doesn’t actually tell the story that occurred, it just throws in a chunk of the theme from the story. For three, it doesn’t actually provide any resolution whatsoever to the biggest problem with the whole system – the fact that you can’t really make the PS and LW work together and they end up holding the world hostage in this perpetual stand-off with each other.

I know Bobby mentioned that this was discussed a lot and there were plans revolving around it, but I just don’t think adding the new Fractals was the best way to handle this. I think it would have been better to just reintroduce the majority of that content back into the game in a way that fits in better with the PS narrative, so that the stories can be experienced in a comprehensive way from a player perspective.

I seriously don’t get why Anet still believes constantly altering or removing existing content is some great idea that makes the world feel more alive – it doesn’t. All it actually does is break player immersion by yanking control of the stories their characters are supposed to be part of away from them.

That is what fractals are though, portions of the past that can be relived so to speak.

“The Consortium invites you to visit our asura gate near Fort Marriner to experience the spectacular scenery and awe-inspiring adventure of its newest attraction: Fractals of the Mists! Re-live the greatest and most exciting moments from Tyria’s past as you test your strength, speed, and skill against some of the most formidable opponents from the annals of history.”

This may not tell the story but it does reintroduce the dungeons in a great way that doesn’t, in my opinion, break immersion. These were things that we destroyed, they are no more. You can only get to them again by reliving history. The actually story part of the LS… yea, they should have some way to track the LS I think.. but that’s a separate problem.

Slow down and smell the pixels.
