I met the man
Game Director
That’s a great reference, nice catch! The back story on that is way back when Gene (Dixie’s owner) was still alive we used to take new hires from ArenaNet down to Dixie’s to meet the man. There were a lot of great stories that came out of those trips and the insanely crazy hot-sauce known as “the man”, along with Gene taunting everyone who would either eat, or not eat it. One trip even included an ambulance visit for one lucky Anet employee.
Sadly Gene passed away a few years ago and with it the tradition, but I hear Porter down in Tacoma is still carrying on in his dad’s footsteps.
It’s been a while since I went to Dixie’s, sad to hear Gene passed away. He got so kitten at me one day when I scooped into the sauce while he was off chatting up a customer. His son had a stand at Safeco in the second deck, I took my dad to meet the man which is one of the funniest memories I have with him. Might want to keep your eyes out if you’re ever at the M’s game.
Being from Seattle, and being an avid Mariners fan (even though they will never be good) I’ve defiantly developed some respect for, “The Man.” Swear that stuffs life threatening haha, but their pork sandwiches are soooo good.

It’s cool that the reference is in the game. It’s cool that Colin stopped to talk about it and to share the story of why it’s in the game. I wonder if Papryk bothered to notice that it was about 10:00 pm when Colin answered that post? That at 10:00 pm Colin was reading the official forums…
I don’t think anyone here needs to be slammed for lack of devotion to the game or it’s problems.

They’re always reading when they can, they just can’t always be posting. When it comes to content-related stuff or things in upcoming patches, they have to be very careful what they say and many times have to run it by others in the office before they can post it. When they’re talking about Seattle, the Mariners, and hot sauce, well, they can post whatever they want when they want to. :P
