Hi , Am new to Gw2 it was my goal since past to buy it and yeah i finally did but am so disappointed.
I loved the idea of this game being PvP as i saw on Youtube .. But when i opened it i got the news right in the face that i have to play 3-4 weeks to be level 80 to enjoy the massive world vs world pvp . How ever that’s not the problem the game is actually quit fun in leveling , and community is very friendly but my question is .

I play in EU server since i live in Egypt , But here is the problem .. I barely pass by 3-4 players each time i do quests .. i really see it a very dead server , Can some one suggest US or EU server that is so crowded and PvP based ? I tryed to join some US servers but they are 24/7 crowded so i noticed they are top played ? But i don’t know how to get in them .

If you go to Lion’s Arch, you can take the portals to WvW and Heart of the Mists(PvP). once you do this, it unlocks for you in the UI.

You can do WvW at any level but you will not be very effective until you get closer to level 80.

As far as PvP, you don’t have to level up. Just go to Heart of the Mists and you’re insta-80 insta-geared. If you can’t get there via the PvP button, you can via Lion’s Arch.

For a WvW oriented server choose one of the top six or seven. https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu

In PvE server does not matter. If you see very few people, it is probably because starter maps aren’t very full right now. Try saying something in mapchat though, you might get several responses. The maps are not small and pwoplw are spread out.

The world zones are all incorporated into megaservers, meaning when you’re running around a zone and don’t see many people in it, there are simply not that many people in that zone on any server. Typically, people may be off doing something else. However, the only thing not affected by the megaservers are the WvW servers, which are exclusive to the three worlds currently fighting each other. Since this seems like something you would like to try (you don’t need to be 80 to do it, but it helps), check the following page out:
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvw

The top 3 servers are the busiest, but I’m in Fort Aspenwood (4th) and it seems pretty reasonable.

For PvE, it’s a megaserver. All server are regrouped in one. How much ppl you are seeing is really dependant on where you are. Starting map are really only for ppl that are leveling, so of course you won’t see much ppl, most ppl are playing on their level 80.

You can go into WvW at level 18 and in sPvP at level 22. In WvW, being lower level will hurt your performance (obviously), but playing in a zerg will make the experience pretty good (you are upleveled to level 80). There is also ETOM which is like WvW and where most ppl are upleveled there. In sPvP, whatever you level you have access to everything. Your character will as good if he’s level 22 or level 80.

You don’t need to be level 80 to enjoy PvP.

In PvP you get all skills, gear and traits you need without being level 80.

In WvW you get upscaled to level 80, so even if you’re level 3 you’ll be doing similar damage output to a level 80. (The only difference will be stats affected by your gear and traits).

PvE maps are shared by all EU or NA servers. It is called a megaserver. For example, my home server is Gandara, but in PvE I can run around maps with friends from Underworld, Desolation, you name it. The only difference server makes is in WvW- that’s the place I play only with my fellow Gandara members. Moving servers will not influence how many people you see around you in PvE maps.

It might be that you’re just unlucky, or that you’re in maps that aren’t as populated. All starter areas often have lots of people in them, but middle-level zones don’t often have as many people. You’ll often find huge groups of people at World Bosses and outside dungeon entrances.

EU and NA servers don’t mix, if you want to move to an NA server (from an EU server) you will have to delete all of your characters to do so.

Also, joining a top WvW server isn’t necessarily the best option to choose. Often the best WvW servers have the longest queue times to get into the maps. I’ve heard some people have to wait for an hour or more just to get a spot in WvW.

GW2 is really free. You gonna have to find out everything here. There is no specific endgame, neither specific things you can do to level up. There is several ways of doing just about anything so you will have to figure it out by yourself. That’s kind of on purpose. They designed the game that way so ppl are free to play how they want. You already have like 10 times more information while leveling than we used to have when we first played the game 2 and a half years ago.

Nothing tells you where to go because the game isn’t linear in that regard. You can level to 30 or 40 without leaving the starter maps and then head on to the level 25 maps. You can move from map to map as soon as you hit the recommended level. You can do your first story chapters as soon as the notification pops up. You can go to WvW anyway, regardless of your level (though prepare to get crushed in a fight), just go to Lion’s Arch and head to the gates that lead to the borderlands. And if you prefer PvP, you can do that and use your rewards (Tome of Knowledge, specifically) to level up your character and then start exploring high-level maps immediately.

There’s really not much you have to do in a certain way or order. Exceptions would be dungeons (which get “unlocked” for you at certain levels, lowest dungeon level being 30 for story and 35 for explorable mode) and fractals, which are endgame content and you need to be level 80 before heading there. Most other stuff can be done whenever.

Mesmer is squishy until you get traits, yes, but if you’re patient enough to keep going, the reward is a very fun-to-play class that can hit really hard at higher levels.

Thief has en elite skill to summon two other thieves (NPCs), who shoot and stab your enemy, respectively. Sadly, no dual-pistol wielding clones. Thieves do, however, have access to lots of cc and invisibility.

Biggest difference would be that mesmers are casters and thieves are adventurers (obviously^^).
Mesmers use clones and phantasms to distract and confuse (and literally apply confusion to) their opponents or just shatter their illusions to deal a ton of damage at once. In melee, they rely on dodging, blocking and evasion to avoid damage.

Thieves are kinda-sorta assassins. They can be played similar to mesmers in melee, with dodges and evades, but can just as well rely on their invisibility, shadow stepping and cc skills to surprise their enemies and keep them from dealing any damage. Their shortbow skills grant them great mobility (which the mesmer sadly lacks), but need initiative to be used, which recharges at a set rate.

That would be it in a nutshell, I guess. Depending on your build, both classes can feel kind of similar, but also vastly different when in the active game. As usual, I would suggest going into PvP to take a look at their traits and maybe practice a few mechanics on the dummies in Heart of the Mists.
