Since I wanted to finish the Fashion meta achievements I created a temporary Sylvari and Asura characters on a free char slot I have just so I could buy the cultural armors and get the achievement, storing the T3s on my bank and vendoring the res, deleting the temp characters after doing so.

I made an Asura today and while checking the T3 from the bank I noticed the set is soulbound to the character I bought it with and deleted like I wrote before. Since this also tells me the T3 Sylvari is SB to the char I made and deleted, I now have 238g worth of T3 armor that is pretty useless.

Before you ask, I made temporary chars because although I wanted the achievement, I’m not really into having too many alts.
I would eventually make 1 of each of these races so I could sport the T3 sets since they cost quite a lot for being rare items.

What to do now? Is there a chance this will change and the cultural stuff becomes Account Bound?

Highly unlikely considering that cultural armor is exclusive to each race. It’s entirely on you that you purchased these without acknowledging the soulbind on acquire.

edit: acquire instead of equip

At 121 gold per set you should have put more planning into the outcome. If you knew you would be storing it, why did you equip it? It would have still given you the achievement without wearing the armor…..you just have to buy it.

If they are now stuck in the bank and you have no way of deleting them or removing them from that bank at all I think you can contact support for a solution. However I have no idea what that solution would be.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

It’s soulbound on acquire, not equip. The skin can still be used, though: transmute to white, move to new char…has to be same race though.

Otherwise, write off $50.

Wont be able to if they are stuck in the bank, that’s where the problem will be.

Yeah, I can’t move them to another char of the same race to transmute to a white set.

I can delete them, there’s not problem there.

Cultural armours are soulbound on acquire rather than equip. This means the character that buys it is the only character that can wear it.

To the OP, you should have read completely before buying the item. Also should have said the wiki if in doubt. There is not a lack of resources of information.

The solution most likely would be that they would remove them for you (as they do have that power). In most support cases the person can do it themselves but in a case such as this I don’t think the player has the ability to.

This game is so accessible in so many ways that I thought this would be an easy thing to do tbh, didn’t even think about it.

I think the best you could ask for from support is for them to bring the char back to life. Then you could transmute them to white items for the skins. That would be the best outcome here. I have heard of them bringing back deleted chars before for people for some reasons. You never know, might be worth trying.

Reviving the chars is probably a bit of a pickle since I made 2 in the only slot I have available and then deleted them, I would need a very patient customer support person.

You can’t click transmute with the bank open? Then drag it from the bank into the transmute box? I mean isn’t that what people do for their legendaries they want to put on another character? Never done it before so I’m not 100%.

A very patient and a very very kind customer support person. Since you did it for the achievement they wouldn’t reimburse you. The only thing I can think of that they can do (and most likely will do) is remove them from your bank for you and place them on one of your characters.

Legendaries are soulbound on equip. They also do the transmuting on the original character before they put it in the bank.

Where exactly did you hear that? Their posts on the forum seems very clear about not undoing character deletion.

I’ve seen it posted before, can’t recall where or when or how many posted it but I have seen it. Don’t ask me when or where because as you can tell if you look at my post history I pretty much read the forums and post every day and have done since launch so I can not pinpoint it at all lol.

Try going to your bank, then use transmute stone/crystal, then try placing the armor directly into the transmute dialog instead of onto the character.

Yeah, I tried that. The transmutation area becomes red.

I sent a support ticket with some of the suggestions from this thread, I am waiting.

They have brought back deleted characters but only if it’s not your fault (for example, your account gets hacked and your characters deleted), and even then it’s not just giving you back your character they’ve done, but to rollback the entire account to a point before the character was deleted, most likely not something the OP wants in the first place-.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

You could have transmuted it to re-skin white items (I’ve moved cultural armor from character to character before – I know this works) but only while the temp character exists. The account bound white item can then be safely stored.

If you have an open slot, you might try recreating the temp character with the exact same name if it’s available. That may allow you to pull it from the bank. Not likely, but worth exploring.

Unfortunately for players in situations like this, the recreation of a character does not permit access to the soul bound items once again, even if the name and all aspects of the character are exact. :\
