I still miss healing
My wife and I feel the same way. We started out making an Elementalist and a Guardian, but switched out the elementalist to a Thief for greater synergy.
She plays the Guardian quite well as a Support/Healer. Tossing out boons and laying down symbols on the ground constantly that heal for ~700 health per second. To all those people saying this game does not have tanks or healers are just fooling themselves. Anet just changed the name of these roles to Support and Control.

I miss the traditional tanking more then I thought I would but I am still liking this way more.
I play a guardian that stacks power toughness vitality gear for all dungeons, and i run with an elementalist that runs a full heal suit and abilitys. I can tell you tank and heals are alive and well in this game even if people scream otherwise
I for one enjoyed the crazy life bar juggling dance healing of Guild Wars. Healing in other MMOs was admittedly far less interesting, but healing in Guild Wars was just phenomenal gameplay.
I’m still missing it. I still haven’t come to realize that this system is “just better”. I mean, yeah you can kind of build most classes for some kind of support…my Guardian has some mean reflection walls and protection, and my necro has sustainable chilled…but it just doesn’t scratch the itch.
As a former GW1 monk (and a former WoW shaman and priest, and former DCUO controller), I like healing – but I’ve found I like it even more when I get to actually take part in the content and see what’s going on on my screen outside of those pernickety health bars. No regrets.
I loved healing in GW1. I still use max healing power in this game, and at least try to tank/heal/support as much as I can with my Guardian “Battle Priest” (NOT Paladin) as much as I can. While there’s no true healer role in-game, healing power can be quite effective, contrary to popular belief. Doesn’t beat my old monk healer but I still feel as useful to my allies, if in a different way.
I don’t miss healing but I do miss gradual damage. GW2 has way too many effects that generate 1-2 shot kills and this becomes very noticeable when you can’t recover by healing.
I’ll be honest. I enjoy being a dedicated healer. I like that the success or failure of my party/team is largely dependent on my performance. I also like seeing my name topping the healing charts, be it in a raid or battleground. A few “nice heals” comments don’t hurt either:) That said, whenever I get the itch to log back into another game, I just can’t do it. Why? I’m finding the more I play GW2, the more depth and richness there is.
Right now I have my support Guardian. With my current setup, she has no less than 12 (yes, twelve) healing abilities. No, they won’t take your ally from low to full health by spamming a few buttons, but they will give them an edge on the battlefield. I also have a full arsenal of boons and control abilities, not to mention I’m still dishing out a bit of damage. And the best part – my eyes are focused on the action, not on some UI element that tells me when it’s time to whack-a-mole.
I miss actual real crowd-control.
When you’d go into fights where the mobs were strong enough there was no possible way for a group to win against more than 1 at a time.
I always play the tween-er, good fighter, good support, good heals in any game that allows it and most do. I do miss it, because it’s very exciting having so many options and knowing when to switch up in the heat of it all.
I still play support classes in GW2 and I do splash the heals they do have out there, they just do diddly poo, but I’m still staying greased in case someday they just might do something.
I’d take a 1/3 of the healing power other healers in other games have. I feel like I have a 1/10th the healing power right now. What I’ve played so far, I’d be better off with a different skill.
I am good though with not wanting or having to have a dedicated healer, I don’t miss that at all. But the heals in this game still could be better so they have some tangible affect and not being known as a “true healer”.
Ya I’m going to have to agree, at first I was thinking it would be a god send. I didn’t think they were going to 100% remove the ability to manage threat and healing but it seems they did.
At least you wouldn’t think people would drop left and right but everyone falls on the ground eventually without the mechanic it seems like everyone’s just prone to dropping dead. It’s just been replaced with the ability for everyone to rez instead.
I think in the end what they promised and the reality of what is in the game is different. Not everyone wants to die constantly.
Healing wack-a-mole is boring. Glad it’s dead here.
Monks also ruined the fun in PvP in GW1.
If you want somekinda group burst heal style in GW2 you could try shout warrior. Can aoe heal group for over 2k every shout with a cooldown of 20-25 seconds each. Requires quite a high level though for the traits.

Monks made PvP in GW1.
PvP in GW2 has no real tactics besides zerg down the other team faster.
Play a warrior. Warrior shout build is like the best healer in the game right now.

I still find half of the warriors abilities perplexingly misplaced on them… And the dual sword just doesn’t seem, well like you are wielding dual swords… and what the hell is up with throwing swords in this game? =_=’
… (?°?°??? ???

idk. I like throwing things though. I use Sword/Shield on my warrior, too bad I can’t throw shields at people.
In reality dual wielding swords is a defensive style, so it’s actually more accurate in GW2 with the Riposte.

This.
It reminds me of playing my Shout Warrior build in GW1 in AB.
Swiftness for everyone!
:)
Monks made PvP in GW1.
That was the problem.

Well, zerg modes in GW2 have no real tactics besides zerging.
sPvP is fine. It just fast-forwards through the part where the monks run out of energy.
I admit I do miss my healing Monk from GW1, although I can still satisfy my healing urges in GW2 from time to time by switching to Water on my Elementalist and tossing Geysers, Healing Rains and Ice Storms into the fray while watching my allies use Bursts and Leaps to create healing booms everywhere.
