I think Veterans/Champions = Worthless
Most veterans are far too easy to drop worthwile loot, but increasing their strenght would make them really difficult to handle when soloing. Champions could use better loot tables and possibly more interesting/challenging fights (I soloed the champion Ooze even in Cursed Shore yesterday).
Maybe they shouldn’t be soloable? It’s an MMO, is it not?
Do you actually play the game? Have you seen how many veterans are there? I’d say they should be soloable (and they currently are) because they are pretty common, and there are many non-group events involving one or more of them. And having most content soloable is pretty okay especially considering how big our world is and how empty some zones are.
MMO =/= forced grouping everywhere.

“forced to do something” and “games” should never be in the same sentence together.
If you believe that people should be “forced to do something” they don’t want to do, get off the computer games and go get a freaking job. Stop mooching your parents to death.
Games should be a fun escape from being forced to do stuff.
kinda sad part is that gw1 had named weapons from bosses, and here in Gw2 there is the opportunity to have both armor and weapons drop, plus other cool stuff, but it’s not happening. Maybe in an expansion, I can hope.
What makes me crazy is quest champion bosses like the giant at Nageling drop absolutely nothing. Not even nose pickings. No wonder nobody is there most of the time.
Well I for one am not waiting for an expansion, they can have their bugs and their horrible data collection software I gave them 5.5 months to get it together I’m not hanging around like I did for other games, I’m moving on.
One of the major reasons I’m moving on is they have no idea how to treat their customers. telling me that what I see with my own eyes for months is both “perceived” and an “X-file conspiracy” is not the professional way to handle something that’s been happening to your players since November with both screenshot and video proof of the matter as well as multiple pages filled with documented data and witness testimony.
tigirius, you are silly if you think any other company will treat you any differently, or will get things fixed any faster. Some MMOs that have lasted for YEARS still have problems abundant, some of which have been there since Day flipping 1.

From November 15th patch:
The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.

Exactly. You know, it’s bad enough that they continue to make world PvE the worst option for earning gold/loot, by a pretty big margin. Making it worse is that they keep telling us they are fixing this, but the fixes they have touted seem to not really exist and, if anything, the situation has gotten worse.
I love the game, just passed the 900 hour mark between two accounts, but there are a few things that continue to frustrate and boggle and this is one of them.
BTW, the apparent decrease of greens+, in favor of blues and vendor trash, just adds inflationary pressures. How? Greens+ are more likely to be traded via the TP, salvaged for runes/sigils or end up in the MF, rather than being sold to vendors. Items that have no use but to be sold as vendor trash (including blues) just create new gold in the economy.
If the decrease in world drops has been meant to counteract inflation, it’s having the opposite effect.

i agree most loot is crap in the same time you kill the champ. you can kill a lot mobs and get more and better loot.
This is the truth of it. There’s no reason to kill a champ mob, ever. The only reason kill a vet is if it is in your way (or if it’s for a skill point). Neither has any better loot than a random mob.
I see alot of people agree and it’s just not me. I wonder when anet will do something about this.
I would like to ask Colin; Why do you think killing trash mobs is more important than killing veterans or champions?
If you don’t? Why is it the case?
The thing is if they give you a good drop rate the value of the Gem Store goes down because there will be less people “short-cutting” to get better gear. Why do you think the legendaries are so ridiculously hard to get? To make a more even progression? Kitten no, they’re that way make NCSoft more money.

So a while back ANET posted somewhere that Veterans/Champions should allways be worth more than trash mobs. So far about 50% of the veterans/champions I kill don’t have any loot at all. If they do its usualy a grey or blue item.
Sure I don’t mind getting a blue item, but ANET has to do something to make vets and champs worth killing.
We need to get rid of the trash tagging and make the bigger mobs more rewarding. It’s not fun to play events when all you do is tag all the trash mobs that die in a few seconds. Luckily I play warrior so I can tag most of them before they die.
But other classes especially mesmer I’ve heard struggle to do this. Big mobs should reward more than the trash, as it is today if you have the choice to tag 5 trash mobs or kill a veteran, any player would tag the 5 mobs since they know it’s a higher chance of getting some loot.
I don’t know how they can fix this without nerfing the loot on trash mobs even more than it is currently. And if they buff the vet/champ loot too much ANET will not be happy, since we know they don’t really like us picking up stuff..
Just my 5 cents, trash mobs should be trash mobs and the bigger ones should carry the rewards..
Boost the champ/vet mobs and don’t nerf anything. Really they should realize that GW2 is GrindWars2 in some aspects.
