I think beta players owe the rest of us an apology...
If anyone owes anyone an apology, I think all the people raining down negativity owe the rest of the GW2 community an apology. It’s one thing to complain, but when every forum thread is repeated negativity or every good thread is hijacked, it makes coming to the forums a real pain to deal with.
You cannot even start a thread about enjoying the game without someone trying to turn it around on you. It’s getting quite tiresome.
not to be rude but well done, except, now you know what its been like for every other mmo forum in the lead up to gw2. EVERY mmo forum had to put up with this mercenary ‘your mmo sucks gw2 will kill it’ group. THAT grew tiresome. and when i see people complaining about negativity, well, karma is the word id use.
Where does it end? You can start the revolution and walk away.
revolution? you mean the gw2 community cant man up, apologise for being total kittens to other gamers simply because their kitten wannbe wow killer game was all they cared for?
god, not even totalbiscuit who went all squealy for gw2 gives two kitten about it now.
I’ve noticed the same. Funny, ain’t it? It makes you wonder.
In response to the OP.
You’ve got it right. The only way to enforce respect from a business is to boycott. So do that if you like. But honestly its too late for that now.. Anet has made their monies.
A long time ago I did something like what you are suggesting. I payed for and played a few games that Ubisoft published. They ended up being good ideas, but badly executed, and all they had to do was patch some of the issues they were having, and the games would have been amazing, but the lack of respect for the player base, or completely ignoring their customers, they never fixed any of the issues. Frustrating!!
Then I realized, if someone ignores me, I naturally stop trying to pay any attention to them and move on..
Well now I completely ignore any game that has Ubisoft’s name attached to it. And since then I have never “lost” another dollar to one of their sub par games, and I hope no one else has either.
So far Anet is trying really hard to keep their players happy.. but it seems alot of their problems are because they have developed NEW systems and are still working out the Bugs.. which takes a few YEARS probably. But at the very least we see progress.
If they had stuck to the tried and true systems they had developed for GW1 no one would be complaining about the problems but maybe just the lack of innovation. So here we stand, acting all Narcissistic Human and expecting the best without any regard for the process they are going through..
all I can say is In your face and not everyone agrees with you.. so do what you can and stop spending money but trying to convince others is like pulling teeth, so good luck.

Unless I’m mistaken, BWE players didn’t have access to the high level content, which is primarily where all of the bug complaints are concentrated. I haven’t seen nearly as many complaints about the 1-30 content, which is where testers spent most of their time.
As far as your other comments go, I couldn’t disagree more. Saying that GW2 is “… passionless mediocrity” feels like pretty severe hyperbole. A lot of the people who are complaining on the forum would be satisfied if Anet made the following changes:
1. Require 3 times as much xp to go from level 1-80.
2. Restrict skill sets or weapon choices, so that you don’t have access to all weapon skills until level 80.
3. Duplicate existing weapon skills, give them different names, and then allow players to use a second hotbar for these skills.
3. Allow players to grind for pvp and pve gear with higher stats, so that players with more free time can gain an advantage over casual players without gaining skill.
4. Gate high level content or release it slowly.
5. Add raids with a gear treadmill.
With the exception of raids, none of the above things takes much time to develop. In fact, if you were a “mediocre” developer who wanted to add roadblocks to your game to slow players down, these are exactly the types of things you’d do. In contrast, Anet attempted to create a game without them, which is substantially more challenging. This was a huge gamble on their part—and it’s one that may not turn out well in the end. But it certainly wasn’t something that emerged from “passionless” and “mediocre” development.
you mean the man kittenmembered who I AM from another forum wins the internet over me? ROFL
I don’t know who you are and I don’t really care, I believe you got me mixed up with another poster who posted before me. But what I do know is you’re taking time out of your precious day seeking validation from other people over the internet and desperately trying to defend yourself on a forum board for a game you no longer play. If there’s a clear winner in the room, it most definitely is you, have a good day.
OT: Beta weekends and the little amount of content they opened up were far from the whole game and left huge areas in the game untested and as a result glitchy. Had they left beta servers opened for longer periods of time, it might have served to catch more of said bugs. However they do have a point in wanting to hold back content, if everything was open to begin with for testing, content locusts would devour this game at an even faster pace.
Unfortunately this is quite common these days. I never understood, and i never will, what motivates these kind of people. It just has to revolve solely around their own needs when it comes to design, if not, then just bakitten day in day out.
One look at this forum and you can see 3 or 4 people stating the exact same thing over and over again in numerous threads.
It doesn’t mean that i think the game is perfect or has no bugs, but continueing the same rants over and over again, by the same few people, is getting quite pathetic imo. You don’t have to like certain aspects of the game, but just move on. We get it now, you don’t like certain things, no need to repeat it over and over again in numerous threads.
Ofcourse, when you don’t agree with their views, you’re a fanboy/whiteknight or whatever.
It is very tiring to see. I like reading forums, but this one is so full of “bad stuff”, I get sick of looking at it. I really do feel like all of the negativity rubs off on me. If I never would have looked at the forums (despite the fact that it is in my nature), I would probably feel much better about the state of the game. Don’t get me wrong I really like it, I just wish the community felt more positive.
When Apollo 13 was in grave danger, everyone didn’t jump all over NASA’s kitten. They were behind NASA the whole way praying for those astronauts to return home safely. Positive attitudes hoping for the best. You have to wonder how differently that would be today.
I feel you.
I’m generally a positive person. I see a nice thread, off topic or not, I enjoy chiming in or helping when needed.
Same way in game or in life. I go out of my way to help others.
Yet when there’s so much negativity, repeated at that, it just turns me sour inside and I feel disgusted. People just simply do not grasp the concept of moving on. For example.. we have someone ehre who got a ‘refund’ yet is still posting? It’s laughable.. and sad to say the least.

people wanted gw2 to be better than WoW. Arenanet told the world mmos are tiring and they are the best at doing them. so people got it in their heads it was so. coming from the MoP questing experience, thus far, MoP is the best questing ive experienced in an mmo.
…for allowing us to buy without warning us. For those of you who played beta, where were you the first two weeks after launch, when all you saw spewing on these forums was sunshine and rainbows. Where were the “lack of progression” posts then, or the “Orr is a heaping pile.”
Granted, the DR came out after launch, not during beta, so we couldn’t get fair warning about that. But the “lack of reward for PvP”, the “boredom of DE”, the “bugs and the unbalanced mess” that you guys are detailing now….what, there were no bugs in beta? No progression-less feeling while you were testing?
They didn’t give enough time for us to even take a peek at Orr and the astounding lack of progression wasn’t yet apparent.
- We need to show these developers we are not putting up with bug-ridden, passionless mediocrity.
You already gave them your money, they don’t care about you anymore. As for future clients, they’re fixing up the game as fast as they can, people like you tend to rant too much, knowing next to nothing about the hardships of game developement of this scale.
- We need to show them by no longer pre-ordering. This pre-ordering has given publishers freedom to churn out whatever they want in whatever state. What does it matter when you’ve already sold a million copies.
- We need to show them by expressing how if certain systems are not fixed by launch, we won’t be purchasing.
Launch ALREADY happened a month ago. There are no more pre-orders, now there are only post-orders.
I think we just need to express our dissatisfaction earlier, because then we as consumers have more power over the situation. After the fact, when they already have our $, its much harder to get our voice heard.
Well, you won’t achieve that by being an entitled money-mule. Since you’re posting here, you’ve already shelled out enough cash towards them for them not to care about your ranting.

Hi,
Due to the amount of off topic we can unfortunately see inside this thread, I will now close it.
Thanks for your understanding.
