Sorry if there are some slight spoilers in here.

My first character was a Norn and I was happy with him but then I started a Sylvari and I saw a bit of a bias. Well first, the Sylvari characters mentor is the one that puts destiny’s edge back together (and also a big plot point in living world season 2), Sylvari characters also meet some important people for later on in the story, all the Sylvari that are involved with Orr. The biggest point that I didn’t even realize till the second season of the living story is the Shadow of the Dragon fight well still in the dream, all of these made me feel like Sylvari were being pushed as the main characters. I thought in the final episode of the living world would have a big reveal that Sylvari are “the chosen ones” or something but it was almost the opposite.

Big spoilers here.

Sylvari are evil??? That blew my mind, I have never heard of an MMO doing something like that before and I am excited to see what ArenaNet does with this. Having almost a whole race be evil? Wow. I’m excited for what ever Heart of Thorns turn out to be and I would love to see what everyone’s ideas are about this stuff.

Oh by the love of the Owl, people!

Sylvari are NOT evil.
Sylvari were made by a dragon. HOWEVER, they have their own minds and as long as the Pale Tree is protecting the Dream and they do not turn away from it, they are just like any other person in Tyria (only immune to other dragon’s corruption, yay).

The cutscene implies that the Sylvari will be persecuted by the other races. Whether or not more turn to evil, we have yet to see.

My prediction would be that some npcs will treat other silvary npcs as corrupted wether they are or not.

People are also forgetting about the nightmare court ..which wont help the whole “OMG SILVARY ARE EVULLL!” thing.

also, there are other games that put you in "evil character "shoes.
While not exactly the same as gw2 PLOT TWIST, THE WHOLE PLAYABLE RACE IS EVIL thing.. there are other games that have 2 or more races that are at war at eachother and they treat eachother as the bad guys and the npcs of the opposing race will kill you on sight… stuff like wow did with aliance vs horde, aion , wildstar, allods…anything that has a war against 2 opposite races/factions..

If the seeds of the Sylvari were purified? by the Forgotten, it could be that the Sylvari were actually planned to be a weapon against the dragons (minus Mordy) during this cycle: an army that is mostly immune to dragon corruption. This is one way that they could still be considered “chosen ones.”
