So after hitting rank 44 I decide to check out some other aspects of the game to see what else I have been missing, and with all the SAB hype, I decided to try some PVE.

Not hard to get a group for SAB, seems cool to me. No where along the way is there any indicator of what I am supposed to do in there, I try and jump over some blocks, some clouds point their finger at me. I am dead. I leave SAB to never come back.

My friend says he is running a dungeon I have a character that is actually high enough level to get in to. I decide to try. We spend most of the time avoiding monsters and running through the map like cowards. Fight one boss, it can one shot me. I leave the dungeon and never come back.

I try to use the black lion trading company. The filters are so simple there is no way to find what I want and after trying to sell 2 things I get errors. I get bored and give up use.

Why does PvE punish me so hard? At least in PvP i get to play the game and only die when other players kill me…after A fight.

Funny. Most of PvE is a face-roll if you understand your class and can dodge.

The only semi-difficult part of PvE is Arah, and that’s only until after you know how the fights work, then it’s just about as easy as every other dungeon.

It’s literally a L2P issue for PvE on your end, and even then PvE is so easy to faceroll with knowledge in dodging and your own class.

As for the TP, well… it’s always buggy, and the interface sucks.

But to be fair, in turn, I can’t do PvP for the life of me right now. I rarely enter it, and usually get beaten up since I’m so used to AI control than players rotations.

The best PvP I’ve ever done was on Skyhammer, I sat up there for 3/4ths of the game as a guildie guarded me on the laser cannon while I rained fire on random players.

SAB is for the jumping puzzle fans. It is in essence a platform game crammed inside a game engine that was never really designed for it in the first place. It is as far removed from general PVE as you can get.

And the dungeon run sounds like a Citadel of Flame speedrun. The mobs are skipped because they produce little to no drops, and result in longer time between completions (recent patches removed the whole point of speedruns, gold farming, as you only get gold once pr dungeon pr day pr account).

As for Warzaw’s comment about dodging. Yes and no.

In PVP, unless you run into a backstab thief or a sniper warrior, very little can really one shot you out of the blue. With PVE however, one shot damage is common. As you say, it can be dodged. But that depends on you seeing it coming in the first place. Remember that projectiles that miss its intended target do not just magically vanish, it can continue on and hit someone from out of camera view. How do you dodge that? This was a common experience for me during the latest Southsun event. I would be taking part in a camp defense, and would either get shot, blown up or trampled by some karka that someone else had aggroed near me, but out of camera view.

Solo fighting big bosses may actually be easier than fighting in a group, as then you know exactly what you do to provoke a certain response from the boss. But in a group, unless the group is well coordinated, there is a high chance that someone will trigger a response from the boss at a bad moment for you (run near you while targeted and you are trying to recover endurance for instance).
