Bah, nobody allows a charr to do what they want. The charr just does it and sneers and dares you to try to stop them.

The charr hierarchy does.

From memory of the personal story, the charr PC is essentially ordered to join one of the orders. It’s not an order the PC resists, and it may be one that the PC could have opposed if they wanted, but at the bottom line, the PC was only free to join an order because it suited the legions for that to happen.

The charr PC is essentially a free agent now, but that’s probably because the hierarchy has seen that the PC gets things done on their own and that reflects well on them. There’s more to lose from trying to give orders to the first Commander of the Pact than there is to gain. However, the PC is a special case (if we ever get a reference to the PC’s rank in the Legions, it’s probably tribune now, meaning that only an Imperator would outrank the charr PC anyway). If you pay close attention to the story, there are mentions that Rox is being given her own assignments – some of which may be of a ‘keep doing what you were doing’ nature, but some of which… I get the impression are something to the side, and not necessarily something we would be happy about if we were to hear what they were.

(I do think, though, that a charr PC would have long ago told Rytlock “Kitten you and your errands, she’s in MY warband now.” It’s probably not done because that would be too much of a difference between the LS for charr characters and for others, but the more they pile on Rox’s gladium angst, the more I find it unrealistic that the charr PC hasn’t fixed that by now.)

Basically, if a charr is doing what they want rather than what the hierarchy wants them to do, it’s either because the hierarchy has chosen to allow them, or because they’re low-profile enough that the hierarchy hasn’t noticed. Certainly, any charr that isn’t fighting or working as part of a warband that’s plugged into the larger structure is a charr that has gone against the cultural norm, while the cultures of other races are more open to the concept of an independent adventurer.

That said, these could probably all be overcome if ArenaNet decides people want it enough, so while I have little interest in the kodan myself, it seems reasonable to let the people who do make their plugs.

I don’t mind people making the plugs or making up a fantasy about how it’s going to happen. I had the same reaction to people making up charr potential characters back in GW1 after EOTN put Pyre on our side of things and “made it likely” to have allied charr.

No worries – the quoted comment was more stating my own position rather than being aimed at anyone in particular.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

I want Kodan and Tengu…

:)

and Centaurs please!

( I will gladly forgo the bottom half of armor)

I support the Centaur movement, even though it’ll never actually get anywhere. It’s too bad no MMO companies want to work in a fully playable Centaur race, though I can imagine why, but still.
