I wish we could do server cleaning
i dunno. Christmas means new games and I might go a month or 2 without playing GW, but I know I will be back. There’s no sub, and thats why I can do this. I’d hate to come back and find my server full and inaccessable to me just because i took a short break. Am I dead weight because I might choose to wrap AC3 for a couple of weeks then come back to GW?
Are the server populations reported by number of accounts or by people actually playing? If it’s the latter then I don’t see why any server cleaning would need to be done. If it’s the former, well then that just doesn’t make sense.
Because if they no longer play they don’t count?
People seem to forget that everyone paid to get the game.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”
No one knows and Anet won’t tell us. I guess it is a combination of online and reasonable-estimate-of-how-many-could-go-online-at-any-time.
I don’t think you’d have trouble getting back in after servers are cleaned out!

Their accounts wouldn’t get deleted remember.

Are you sure you understood the point of the OP?

Server Population is the amount of accounts currently registered (or have moved) to that server.
Players move server regularly, so keep checking once in a while and you may see that the one you want to transfer to has open spots.
No thanks please- I am very attached to my server since I have been playing there since BWE.
I play this game as much as I can which is most days but I know that over the holidays I won’t be able to play for almost a month due to family commitments.
I would hate to log on only to find that I am now on some random server and then find I cannot transfer back to my home
I don’t know how you could possibly determine who would never come back, so you cannot really say servers are carrying dead weight- what would be your cut off time?
Also the fact that server population fluctuates suggests to me that the pop might well be based on people playing at the time- otherwise it would remain static.

1. Anet sends out an email to hibernating accounts.
2. Have a 2 week reply/click link window. No clicky = auto-move.
3. ???
4. Profit
Stop repeating false information.
Full means the server is full of people online and playing.
This is easily checked because it changes intra-day, and full servers go to very high around the early mornings every day.
I’m guessing it won’t be real-time every minute, but updated every hour etc

Lol no it doesnt it means the accounts tied to the server. Look for CC Evas post she states it clearly.

Please stop posting false information it isnt right.
It has nothing to do with who is online or concurrent.

The game is hardly out. If ANet could get their head out of their A and bring a lot of retail value back into the game, then the “dead weight” would be gone as most of those accounts would actually be playing again. Currently level up to 80 is way too fast and easy, there are too many bugs in this game, and the gear treadmill at the end has killed off their customer base.
I’m very disappointed in how horribly ANet has handled this. A lot of hard work was put in the game and they are just letting it die off as if they are getting ready to close down their business and laying people off. That is how I feel as a 1st come customer.
During the Lost Shores weekend, a lot of people logged in, and the load went up to 90% of max.
GW2 is said to have a plan for a big release every month for as long as they can keep it up.
A lot of players don’t have much they want to do in GW2 except these special event activities.
This wasn’t a suggestion thread. Just a whimsical “i wish we could tell who was never returning and sweep their accounts into a dud server”. I fully know there’s no way to do this without making someone super unhappy.
BTW, during lost shores, not even half of the players in my one guild came online. Location showed as Unknown throughout. Guild I started with was even more quiet.
If you were talking about a subscription game and people had dropped their subscription this would prob be a thing to do to free up space for new players to have higher populations but this is well free to play so they could be back to play at any time and deserve to be on the server they picked
