… they would simply allow you to switch the order of the weapon abilities.

Sounds like a simple gripe, but honestly, it would be very easy to implement. I like to be able to place keybinds where I want them, and where they are comfortable for me.

Make it so!

But weapon skills aren’t intended to be customizable?

That’s weird, because my keybinds are where I want them. My AA is number pad 4, for example. The physical location of the skill doesn’t impact how you bind the keys.

You can bind um to whatever you want, and the symbol underneath changes (I did it to match a gamepad setup I was using for a different game.). Its in options (esc to open)

The order might be interesting to change but if I’m binding I just put them in rising CD order anyway for as far as possible so I can quickly scan my cooldowns if necessary. And I end up binding them according to cooldown length anyway to match this.

You can already place keybinds wherever you want them. Sounds like you can come back to the game, then, unless there’s some other non-reason you have for not doing so.

I’d come back to the game if my graphics card had not bit the dust. Now the problem I have is, I need a whole new PC as I don’t know if it’s simply the cards lost half of its ram, or if my motherboard is damaged. And it’s not like I can ask a friend to lend me there cards to see. If it’s my board I could frag there card. And I don’t fancy owing someone a card on top of needing a new PC.

I agree with the OP that it would be nice if they finally added this. The way it works right now is, yea you can keybind skills to a key you wish. But as soon as you weaponswap or change elements when playing an Ele you can no longer customize that other weapon/element to your needs because you only bind a button, not an actual skill. Being able to swap places of weaponskills would solve this issue so that your 2nd skill may be your 3rd when you weaponswap to a different weapon etc.

Changing the bind without being able to change the order makes for a very, very UN-intuitive interface. I agree with the OP – it’s absolutely maddening to be stuck with the same order. I’ve never played a game where I couldn’t move my skills around.

It’s simple – why not be able to go to your Weapon Skills page of your Hero panel and rearrange them?

Related to this: for Right-Handed players, the “1” key is pressed by the weakest fingers of the hand. Since spamming the the “1” key is so essential to GW2 gameplay, it has started to actually cause tendon pain in my elbow.

Easy solution: be able to move most-used skills to the “4” or “5” key where the stronger fingers are. And don’t tell me I can just “remap”. Of course I can, but then the skill icons on my UI make no sense with respect to my keyboard.

What’s the only game I can’t do that with? GW2

So what do I do? Play something else so my elbow doesn’t hurt. All because in those other games, I can simply move my skills around my bar.

That’s interesting. I use my left ring finger for hitting 1 because my pinkie isn’t long to reach it. It might be just the natural curl of my fingers but 1 falls exactly into the range of my ring finger when it fully extends, hence no problem with my elbow. Granted it makes for awkward combat at certain moments. For me, it’s largely to do with how I type. I rarely use my left pinkie for anything beyond LSHIFT or LCTRL so that’s probably why I have little problem in that regard.

Have you considered using your ring finger instead?

Sadly, both of those fingers’ tendons run to the same point in the elbow…

The biggest issue I have with key binding is switching from a main to an alt that doesn’t follow the same format. Running a warrior and then switching to an elementalist can be confusing. Don’t know if the order would help much in that case though.

Interesting (not in a dismissive way). The only time I’ve gotten any pain of that sort is from holding down the buttonskeys for a prolonged period of time, but otherwise never. Perhaps it is to do with you’re holding your wrist relative to the keyboard? Do you rest it on anything? or do you hold it aloft? You might be able to solve that with a wrist rest or one of those gel pads. The other option is to put the keyboard further from your body so your arms are more outstretched and you’re resting on the desk. You may find you’re bending your arm and thus wrist at an awkward angle because your keyboard is too close to you?

True. When I play my thief I’d prefer to have my weapon skills near, while when I play my engi I want to have accessible kits. But alternative binding seems more practical than moving skills around. This is not GW1, skills are tied to the weapon, so it would be confusing. Even moving the skills inside the same weapon set would be annoying: I’m one of the few people who actually likes to watch tournaments on twitch, and I like to know which abilities are used!

I would like more customization on weapon skills as well

swapping the orders for one but also having a few changable ones
much like you can swap utility and healing skills I’d like each weapon to have more than 5 skills and the ability to choose which weapon skills I’d like to use.. conditions, direct damage, CC, mobility..

if Anet give us this it would make building characters a severely more enjoyable experience

as someone who loves Sword and Shield on Warrior I find it highly annoying that Sword is restricted mainly as a condi weapon when I would prefer it to have more damage and drop the bleed entirely

this would also be a big help to world events too as condi specialized players will be less likely to have their condition stacks being overwritten by low dmg condis from other classes lame unspecialized secondary effects that they don’t even care about..
