Q:
Hello guys, i would like to know the response to the following questions:
After this gear grind had been introduced, is the president of A-net the same?
Was the information about increasing the level cap posted before or after the game public release date?

Here is just one of numerous statements:
“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”

Then they published this:
“When we looked at the concept of “endgame” for Guild Wars 2, we designed it the same way. We didn’t want the endgame to be something you could only experience after a hundred hours of gameplay or after you reached some arbitrary number. We wanted it to be something that players got to experience every step along the way, spread out across the entire world of Tyria, so we’ve introduced game elements that you’d normally associate with “endgame” at every level and every possible opportunity.”

They also released a video about that end game philosophy (i.e. anything you can do at lvl 1 you can do at lvl 80. end game begins when you start playing)
The sad part about all of their end game discussions is that those just occurred about 2 months ago. When did they begin working on the new Ascendant gear and Fractal Dungeon?
These are 2 honest questions that i would like honest answears please.
Just do some research
Just do some research
Brilliant bit of contribution there.
To the op. The only constant is change. If I were to take a guess, I would think that if the president of a company makes the decision to go back on something they said about the direction of the company, then it more than likely is an economic issue.
Afterall, he is ultimatly responsible for the profitability of the division he is president of.
Yes, ty for your reply even though it might interest others, i dont want to nor trying to sound disrespectfull as your reply was much usefull than ckeeton but im not interested into why they did it, they had too much time already to explain that to us, my 2 questions are very simple, if some proof or hint where i could get that proof would be included it will be very great and i will appreciate it alot.
They’ve locked threads that asked the same questions, this sadly will no doubt follow suit.

If by level cap you mean, the no “gear stat” progression, yes that was discussed numerous times by Arenanet including Mike O’brien, President and Founder. They just told everyone about their radical change in design last week. It was never even hinted at prior to last week.
I have also asked why Mike O’brien has not made a public statement about their change in design vision. No statement before or after the patch.
He is the main one that explained over and over again the GW2 philosophy regarding horizontal progression. He made it clear that there would be no new tiers of gear once you achieved max stat. Then other Arenanet representatives stated that Exotic was the max stat gear, top tier. Most of those statements were made just a few months ago. However, Arenanet has been discussing the horizontal progression feature for years. In their first game and they promised it would be in GW2.
Interestingly enough, their staff recruitment page still declares that they get to make the games they want to play, and that they don’t have the financial pressures of other game companies.

i have selected dalendria answear as the topic answear because nobody else came up with the answear for the second question:
Was the information about increasing the level cap posted before or after the game public release date?
Thank you dalendria.

yes, i was the op of the locked thread and moderator told me that naming a company member (so taking a short-cut if i’ve understand well) wasn’t helping for getting them the message.
and ckeeton.4907 was there too to ruin a polite thread, pls don’t be a troll.
We’re asking this kind of question cause we care for Anet and for gw2.
