Getting a full set of exotic cost like 40 gold. I’m in full exotic 1 day after I reach level80.
What is the DR suppose to fix? People getting full exotic in 2 days instead of 1?

I already told you the only way to buy gems with gold is because there are people selling the gems with gold. Else where do you think those gems on the exchange system come from.

Even if you neglect the gem system, there are people buy gem store item directly with cash right? That is unfair advantage.

DR gets taken off, farmer farms all mats, a normal player collects the mats while playing normally, farmer brings the mats price down, normal player can’t get money by selling what he collected now, normal player can’t get exotic jewels unless he has jewel-crafting and can’t afford exotic weapons unless he has the proper weapon crafting profession, because mats are now dirt cheap. Exotic armor can still be gotten with karma, so that’s not a problem.

Well said. I am not looking for an equivalent to “8 hours spent in the same spot in DF just for one bubble of XP” farming. As it is, the drop rates on stuff really isn’t that great in GW2 to begin with. Just end the DR. Everything else can stay the same.

Increasing the drop rate by a bit can be a good idea. Ending DR is a really bad idea.

Not really. I would bring some life back into the game. Not to mention rejivinate dead zones. Or, I guess, players can just continue to do the chest farming and ignore the rest of the open world content, as they have been for quite a while now. Or just keep doing one path of one dungeon (and doing everything possible to do it as quickly as possibly) as they have been…because that is so healthy for the game. There is a reason the boss/event timer websites exits you know, and it isn’t to fullfil you idea of complete gameplay. But sure, ANet can go ahead down this road. It isn’t as if many haven’t already left the game…oh, wait…they have.

It would allow easier botting, would decrease mat prices into infinity (see mat prices for mitril/silk. Mithril and silk are easy to get. You can’t profit by selling them. What do you think would happen if tier 6 would lose its value?) and would make it harder for players that want to legitimately play the game instead of standing there repeatedly killing mobs. Plenty of old MMOs will allow you to do so. Go and do so there. Don’t ruin the one of those new rare MMOs that don’t like farming please.

Why is Anet nerfing every single farming location that players find?

Because this game never intended to allow you to farm in the first place. Hence in launched with diminishing returns in exp, money and loot.
Why keep nerfing things you ask? Because people like you still didn’t get the point that you are not supposed to farm in this game.

because of the gem store and being able to convert gold to gems. if people were able to bring in loads of gold they could essentially buy everything in the gem store without paying anet any money. they dont want that.

it’s not that hard to be able to buy everything in the gem store with gold. That’s what I’ve been doing, that’s why gold to gems exchange ratio is so high. If people were buying gems and exchanging those to gold gold to gem ratio would be extra low.

I’m sorry did u play since beta ? DR was put in a while AFTER launch to “combat” bots so those ppl who rushed to 80 and farmed got rewarded with more drops/cash than any player can today, Anet says the bots are under control but the DR system remains ask yourself why. as to the gold per gem ratio at some point soon if not now at 25g per 800 mr Johnny casual will never get the gold so hes “forced” into the store if he wants an item

yeah, I did. I don’t remember loot being better than it is today though. In the starting levels still all that dropped to me was gray, white, blue. Nothing else. DR is a good idea in general in my opinion. And I still see bots, so that “in control” is very subjective.

That is why they have a great material sink called legendary. And there is another farming place called dungeon which drop silver.

And what you says dont’ even make sense. If material price goes down, so does the exotic items. The crated exotic item price really follow the mateiral price isn’t it?

If the value in T6 mats (or anything else) dropped due to increased supply, then the value of the items that T6 mats are used to craft would also drop. Ergo any income the “normal” player would have lost from the reduction in price of the mats, would be offset by the fact that the stuff he wants to buy has also decreased in price.

Personally I am not fussed with them keeping DR or getting rid of it. What I would like to see though is an improvement in the loot you get from champions and veterans.

Players shouldnt be able to earn a legendary by standing in a single spot for hours and hours with their finger on the # 1 key – or for running a dungeon as mind numbingly easy and fast as COF1 20+ times in a row in a single day.
.

The counter to that is why should they be able to buy one? They haven’t earned it then either. It was beyond stupid to let legendaries be available on the TP.

I was here from day one (well from before then technically with pre purchase) and I had full exo within a few days of hitting 80 (and no I wasn’t an avid farmer it is a cake walk to master crafting in this game, i’m sure even your “normals” can do it).

If there was any discrepancy between crafting mat value and exotic sale value in the early days, it would have possibly been due to a combination of limited supply of ectos, people only just turning out exotic stuff (so it was rarer) and the market not being as efficient as it is now due to being in a fledging state.

It is unlikely in the extreme that a removal of DR (and subsequent drop in T6 mat costs) is going to see “normal” players unable to fund or gain exotic gear. Again i’ll reiterate I think that increasing the quality of the loot dropped from more difficult encounters is the way to go as opposed to removing DR. But the whole sky is falling scenario with regards to people not being able to buy exotics if T6 prices dropped seems to be totally incorrect.

The prices of mats are increased to insane prices by people playing the TP and buying up the supply raising prices also. Bots farming and selling mats are the only counter to people driving up prices on the TP and how do we know if Anet deletes mats or anything in surplus off the TP. They could always buy things in bulk and delete them from the game.

I don’t really care about DR, I don’t have an attention span long enough to hit it. Loot tables are kittening kitten in this game, 1 of the worst I ever seen. I have limited time to play and want to maximize my gains in that time. I don’t care for the legendary, I think most of them are fugly and I will not spend years trying to put one together. The end game for me is making money and mats to try new gear and builds on all my alts and playing WvW which is a huge gold sink. With Anet nerfing all the good money making spots they are effectively killing the end game for me and a lot of players like me and I find myself playing less and less and wanting to play less. They advertised playing the game the way you want and be able to get anything you want by doing so which is a kittening lie. It’s down to the mega events and temples and farm CoF1. Anything else is a waste of time cause you aren’t getting rewarded for it. WvW players can’t just play WvW if they wanted to cause you inevitably spend more money then you can make unless all you do is zerg, never upgrade anything and never build any siege. Anet really needs to review the rewards system in GW2.

at this point i wouldnt listen to his arguments anymore, you cant make money by doing nothing, and “playing the game” is an awful way to get you anywhere in terms of a legendary.

and if some people want legendary weapons?
I just really don’t understand Anet’s mentality
I got 100% map completion I’ve seen all the world has to offer
now what?
other than a legendary what else is their to do?

you’re both essentially crying “I want my legendary now”. A legendary was designed to take years to get, hence legendary.

You obviously didn’t get the point that MANY people farm for a legendary. Also you don’t know why DR is in place only an Anet employee knows how it works and why they really use it.

People play mmos in different ways and some players actually enjoy farming.

those people then should probably find an MMO that allows it. Besides while Guild Wars 2 community is crying, Tera has a far harsher DR and people seem to be okay with it.

Legendarys take years to get? Why do I see everyone running around with legendarys then? And people with multiple legendarys.

What is this Otoh? I googled it, but nothing come up. I’m interested in games and MMOs so I would probably want to look at it. Could you give me full name or a link to the website, please?

The prices of mats are increased to insane prices by people playing the TP and buying up the supply raising prices also. Bots farming and selling mats are the only counter to people driving up prices on the TP and how do we know if Anet deletes mats or anything in surplus off the TP. They could always buy things in bulk and delete them from the game.

1. Do you have proof of people buying out T6 mats and outbidding themselves?
2. Bot farming is what makes silk, mithril, gold and silver unsellable. Sometimes linen and copper are also so plentiful that you benefit from selling to a vendor. One of my guildies has collected stacks of mithril, leather and silk. We joked that if he vendored it all in he would get around 1G. In a game clean from bots he would get far more for that.
3. “and how do we know if Anet deletes mats or anything in surplus off the TP” a) it would not benefit them b) why are there so much of certain tiers of items? Like literally, millions and millions of low tier materials.

Like you know anything about economy. You said lower material price make it harder for normal player to buy exotic. When in reality nothing changes. Since lowering material price lower the price of exotic.

except that in reality that didn’t happen at the start of the game.
Exotics getting dropped as loot means that community puts a certain value on dropped exotics that make crafters unable to raise their prices above it (because they require ectos it often means that they end up losing money) and mat prices don’t influence them that much.

Legendarys take years to get? Why do I see everyone running around with legendarys then? And people with multiple legendarys.

1. Because they’re not patient and made farming cof their job for a month or so
2. Because they bought it off gold sellers
3. Because they know what items will be profitable and invested into buying some stuff out, holding it and selling it back months later
4. Because it’s been 7 months after the game got released and if they were earning around 10 gold a day after hitting level 80 they could have saved up above 2000 gold by now.

“We” are u saying u work for anet ? Also your other post to me that u play to enjoy the game might have washed when it was new its now 8 months you need to have something to show time invested otherwise why play an MMO, taken from an other MMO time is money friend

so all of that holiday content that you could have gotten to show that you’ve been playing from the very start doesn’t count?
8 months * 30 (days in a month) * 10 (if you manage to earn 10 gold a day) = 2400. You could have gotten a legendary playing steadily quite easily by now.

I dont’ know what you mean start of the game. If you mean like 8 month ago, I dont’ think anyone care about 8 month ago.

First you say, normal players can’t buy exotic since farmers deflate material price so normal people can’t make money. After it you say farmers cause excess amount of exotic, so exotic is too cheap?

Come on, please make up your mind.

Crafter can’t make money because there’s too many crafter competing against each other. If there’s more exotic drop there is bound to be many rare drop too which drop the price of ecto. You have to come up with every excuse which serve no purpose right?

The moral of story is people can’t stand other people being richer than them that’s it.

you know… honestly if not getting a legendary was the most of my worries, I would be very very happy… I started playing at release day, granted I took a month or so off afterwards and progressed slowly initially, I would say that I’ve been farming CoF P1 significantly on a daily basis… and guess what? I still can’t even afford superior sigils on all my characters (I have 5)… I have one set of skinned CoF gear on all of them (I’m not exactly balling out on a cornucopia of gear for each character here) and most my weapons still have major sigils in them… and I farm a significant amount… I farm 1-2hrs daily at the minimum and probably minimum 5-6 hrs over the weekend and I can still barely afford things… I have no chance in the world of getting a legendary… I just want to gear up properly so I can actually go and enjoy playing the game and not just grind but 9 months into the game, I’ve yet to be able to do that… so, you’ll still see me on gw2lfg (still no group finder 9 months into the game) farming with my warrior who only has one superior sigil in his gear… fun…

So you don’t care about how screwed up the economy ended up being 8 months ago and will not take the start of the game as an example?

First you say, normal players can’t buy exotic since farmers deflate material price so normal people can’t make money. After it you say farmers cause excess amount of exotic, so exotic is too cheap?

I’m not saying that. I’m saying that farmers are mostly responsible for the material prices. Meaning material selling will stop being an option for almost everyone. Getting exotic drops is rare, however temple exotics are cheap, about 1 to 2 gold each. Crafters would still have to pay for ectos therefore making their creations not very profitable (like it is right now anyway), materials are too dirt cheap for anyone to make money off them, therefore very little ways to make money.

Crafter can’t make money because there’s too many crafter competing against each other. If there’s more exotic drop there is bound to be many rare drop too which drop the price of ecto. You have to come up with every excuse which serve no purpose right?

many rares drop already due to the changes made to the map events. Therefore yellows are dirt cheap. However ectoes are used in so many things (500 for fractals, 80 for ascended earrings, any level 400 craftable uses them) that they are able to keep their price up high.

The moral of story is people can’t stand other people being richer than them that’s it.
It’s like the “Oh I don’t farm. So I don’t want to see other people that can farm that can get richer than me”.

I’m perfectly fine with people being richer than me, I hate everyone to be forced into their play style because they chose to screw with the economy though.

you know… honestly if not getting a legendary was the most of my worries, I would be very very happy… I started playing at release day, granted I took a month or so off afterwards and progressed slowly initially, I would say that I’ve been farming CoF P1 significantly on a daily basis… and guess what?

You must be doing something wrong, because I have superior sigils and runs on most of my guys and I have a legendary and I’ve never spent time “farming” or selling gems for gold.

Screw up the economy for what?

If material is cheap, its’ true people can’t make “money”, but everything is cheaper too, so you need less money.

Do you think the drop in ecto price make it easier for crafter to make money?

And you talk about the economy 8 month ago when the game is out. The game is just out, of course the economy isn’t stable.

Nothing you said even make sense.

Ane the reality? Believe or not there really isn’t that many farmers. Not only that how does the farmer screw the economy? Most of the farmers are working on legendary. So they won’t cause the material price to go down. “Since they need the material”.

ya but a huge part is because it is cheaper to get legendary back a few month ago.

That being said, I estimate a legendary cost about 300 hours to get now. You really need to farm 1 hour a day for 10 month. Depend how you look at it.

You really only need to make 8 gold a day and in half a year you can afford a legendary. Well, that’s probably how Vayne get his legendary.

I’m not a new gamer by any means. I’ve grinded in games like EQ and FFXI, which most games don’t hold a candle to. I just enjoy farming. I already have my legendary, but I enjoy the simple act of farming crap after a long day at work. This game right now only has a couple of spots where you can actually farm and I dearly hope they don’t nerf them.

But they do care most of the players arn’t rich. Else who are they selling the gems to?

well… the only thing I did do that was “extra” was buy another character slot, and leveled up 2.5 characters to 80… but partially… all in all probably spent about 70 gold on leveling… I guess that would’ve gotten me my sigils… oh and I bought the rox bow and quiver for gold too… 70 leveling+ 18 character slot+ 37 Rox stuff= 125 extra gold spent on all that… yea that would’ve bought me my sigils but still man… averaging 5gp for a sigil… let’s say each character has 2.5 weapons on average (some have just 2 handers, some have more… my thief has 6 weapons I regularly use)… that’s 16 sigils required… 16*5= 90gp to equip all the characters with superior sigils… that’s a lot of farming man… even at a generous rate of 1gp per run, that’s lets say 90 runs (some rare drops increase the rate, but it’s not really 1gp either, closer to 80-90 probably after DR kicks in)… at 8 mins a run (also rather generous with CoF being closed all the time these days) that’s… 720 minutes= 12 hours of straight up non-stop farming… and that’s being very generous… it will probably be closer to 14-15 hours of real life farming… that’s about 2 weeks of just farming FOR SIGILS ONLY… if you don’t think that’s rough… I dunno man…

those people then should probably find an MMO that allows it. Besides while Guild Wars 2 community is crying, Tera has a far harsher DR and people seem to be okay with it.

That’s because Tera has a far better Rewards and loot system to GW2 when i kill things in Tera i get stuff i can use or sell here i get crap 99% that gives almost zero returns, people can only tolerate useless junk for so long before they move on.. in droves..

Not really. I would bring some life back into the game. Not to mention rejivinate dead zones. Or, I guess, players can just continue to do the chest farming and ignore the rest of the open world content, as they have been for quite a while now. There is a reason the boss/event timer websites exits you know, and it isn’t to fullfil you idea of complete gameplay. But sure, ANet can go ahead down this road. It isn’t as if many haven’t already left the game…oh, wait…they have.

because you know, we totally don’t see them expanding servers and hiring more personal, oh wait, we are.

“We” are u saying u work for anet ? Also your other post to me that u play to enjoy the game might have washed when it was new its now 8 months you need to have something to show time invested otherwise why play an MMO, taken from an other MMO time is money friend

Personnal feedback : I play since launch. 3000+ hours of game 70% in wvw 30% in pve.
I farmed gold to get what i needed.
Why?
Because if the drop rates were so balanced how do you explain that on 3000+ hours i dropped like 3 charged lodestones and may be 5 or 6 from any other kind.
The problem is that if you don’t want people to farm gold please upgrade the loot table.
This is REALLY AN ISSUE WHEN PLAYING 3k+H YOU GET 3 MAT ITEMS (it’s 1lodestone/1k Hours of game) => I never went any specific spot to drop some but if the loot table was balanced we wouldn’t have to farm any specific place and not for such huge time.
Ok now I don’t care at all I only go wvw because pve is a huge waste of my time for no reward. At least wvw is even less rewarding but i play an aspect of the game I enjoy…

I got my legendary by playing the game. When I get ectos I tend to throw them into the mystic forge with coins and skill points in order to produce tier 6 mats. I have far more clovers than I need, but seeing as it’s so easy to get ectos these days (the maw, the wurm, the shadow behemonth, the dragons etc) I just get ectos from salvaging golds. I do also help guildies with dungeon runs and fractals which makes me money and gets me rares or very rarely exotics.

Build up a bunch of ectos, do dailies and monthlies for coins, do events for karma (it helps that I enjoy events) and get skill points, even on alts, to use the 10 mystic clover forumula. Sometimes you get junk, sometimes you get 40 vials of powerful blood or 36 elaborate totems. It all counts.

Do your 9 dungeon runs, farm in WvW while you’re getting your badges (jumping puzzle chests can give you rares too).

The hardest part, of course, is the precusor. I was lucky enough to have one drop. If that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have my legendary. On the other hand if that hadn’t happened, I probably wouldn’t be worrying about a legendary.

Another cheap trick is that if you want to go for a legendary and don’t want to spend a fortune for a precusor, look at the underwater ones. The precusor for kraitkin, for example, was 22 gold the last time I priced it. My wife bought it a couple of days ago for 25 gold.

So you can have a legendary, just maybe not the greatsword.

how is it insulting? Because you decided to completely ignore my opinion as a player of this game and essentially say “she is hired to say that, so pay no attention to that”. In response to that I could claim that you are hired by a different company to blackmail this product and make sure that Guild Wars 2 fails so that this said company would have less competitors. We disagree on the flaws of the game. It’s called different players having different opinions. If you asked me where are the loot tables wrong I would have answered you that both champion loot tables and dungeon chests are wrong in comparison to map events. That has even been said by the Anet employees. They said that they will fix it (eventually). However most of the discussion has been “remove DR” and “increase all drops”. Which I disagree with.

I like the Farming nerfs.
I hate people running same stuff over again and players ‘LF cof speedruns’ and seeing Farmers have massive gold and corrupts the market and makes casual/non-farmers having to farm to enjoy the market or other parts of the game.
Just before GW2 released I was playing another MMO that whent from wonderfull to after five years it a fulltime job grinding for medallions, seals, tokens, with dungeons with different rewards values and that makes the easiest quickest and best achievement dungeon to be done over and over and over and over again…

I rather take care of real life stuff and get something real and usefull than farming the same thing over and over, days and nights for just some pixels.

I play Guild Wars 2 alot and I am just above an casual gamer I think, I don’t care for the legendary… I play the game for fun, not to earn bragging rights or being the best player in the game or compete with someone.
I guess I am about 20% away from getting all component I need for a Legendary and I haven’t farmed a single time.

Tbh i don’t care for the rng,but i do care that the champs can one shot you.
that alone is taken the fun out of the game.
Also temples like grenth takes the ****.

That is just how the game works, I had a hard time with this game in the beginning and I was so angry over how easy I die and so on, but this game is more like old Nintendo games.
Once you have learned to moves from your oponent and what to do, not to get hit is the best way… When you figured out how to fight your enemy you can almost handle every Champion in the game solo.

Why is Anet nerfing every single farming location that players find?
Diminishing Returns, Lodestone/Loot drop rate

WTF Anet?

Why are you discouraging people from playing your game so much?

And please before people bring out the old “GW2 is built for casual players”
it that was the intent its a dumb intent, if GW2 is to survive it has to cater somewhat to hardcore MMO players, I love the revamped combat etc. but I want to have legendaries be possible to obtain…
i’ve farmed for 3 months solid now and still have all my t6 mats and precursor to go in addition to 100 onyx lodestones, 200+ oricalcum ore and about 170 ectos…
You are nerfing farming locations why?

You say that you didn’t expect people to get legendaries so fast?
how does that make sense? if people love a game and something in the game they will spend hours to obtain it I don’t understand why you want to slow down people from getting legendaries…
It was hard enough after plinx karma chain got nerfed and then the nightmare of Diminishing Returns occurred, but you just keep nerfing things?

Why?

Nerfing things is not a fix all solution and catering solely to casual gamers will not work out for you…

also don’t pull the “just play the game and have fun” what if I find grinding fun?
I like to grind if its achievable because if I grind I feel like I accomplished something at least in this game, then the nerf’s happened…

If its not reversed soon me and your player population will leave, heck you’ve already lost a lot of your player base

1. A.net rather has a thousand casuals paying gems, than 1 hardcore who wants to farm. That’s a cold hard business fact. Has nothing to do with farming nerfs though, but rather to make casual a viable way to play the game. A game can never cater to hardcore and casuals at the same time, it’s impossible.

2. Grind by definition is not fun. It is not possible to have fun while grinding, because grinding simply isn’t fun by definition. If you like to farm, you’ll have to use other words to describe the activity others perceive as grind.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

Before I discovered about cof and orr, I was farming grawl or troll in frostgauge sound. I farmed like 10 hours for a couple of week there and I never notice much diminishing return.

Quite honestly I never felt Anet is trying to stop people from farming, nor do they care.

DR triggers if the dungeon is completed consecutively or in under 30 minutes. DR can be though to accrue in points and affects any dungeon. Cycling between two different dungeons will not bypass DR.
