I know we used to have more varied dailies in the past, and I’d like to see a return of at least some, plus some entirely new ones.

This would lead to a less “samey” experience. Examples:

  • Resurrect 10 downed players or NPCs.
  • Refine something 10 times. (like crafting Bolts of Silk)
  • Finish events in 3 different major areas (e.g.: Kryta, Ascalon, Heart of Maguuma).
  • Dodge X attacks.
  • Heal Y damage, either on yourself or others.

And so on. More variety! It feels that every day now is “Gather something somewhere”, “Do events in this zone” and two of “Visit Vista”, “Do minidungeon”, “Do JP” and “Do adventure”, with the odd MF or Fractal thrown in. It’s all the same, every day

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Resurrecting 10 times was boring back when it was a daily, refining is different but as trivial as vista dailies, healing sounds like rezzing only cheezier, and finishing events in three regions sounds like the 4-event|one-zone daily only worse.

I support the attempt to mix things up a bit, but I fear that one of the reasons that dailies aren’t more varied is that it’s not as easy as it sounds to find a balance between “too easy” and “too tedious”.

PS WvW and PvP dailies are even less varied because it’s even harder to find alternatives in those game modes.

I always got the impression that dailies were a way for Anet to drive traffic to various underpopulated zones, at least for a day. I have a feeling that if they do switch things up with dailies, it’ll likely be to entice the player population to zones that don’t see much traffic day to day. However that fits with expanding daily tasks, you are free to speculate.
