With these new world bosses having such exceptionally high difficulties, it seems like there are a ridiculous amount of complaint posts about how difficult they are and even devs talking about how they didn’t see this coming or they’ll look into it next time.

Personally, I agree that the Wurm boss is rather extreme on the difficulty curve, but hopefully that will get better with time. I enjoy the Marionette fight, in general, but it’s immensely frustrating that I’ve done the fight probably 2 dozen times and haven’t beaten it once.

It seems to like the major problem with these fights is that A-Net is unable to predict just exactly how servers are going to react or handle these fights in the real world. So why not change that?

How about one week before any major world bosses are released, you pick one random server (and I mean random, not just T1 or T2 servers. Blackgate, JQ and SoR are going to beat this stuff just by sheer numbers. Just because Devona’s Rest is a lower tier server doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to enjoy some PvE content as well) and that one server will be the beta server for a week. Make some behind the scenes requirement that the player will have to have been on that server for at least a month beforehand (so no one can just server hop).

This would allow you to see how the actual players handles the encounters before they’re released to everyone and fine tune the fights so they’re exactly where they need to be.

I believe Tequatl was meant to take weeks for a kill. A testament to perseverance that it was, what 2 days? The difficulty is as intended I’m afraid – they aimed it at a specific difficulty level, expecting a majority to dislike it.

I have no issue with that really. I see no reason elite content shouldn’t be in the game for those wanting that kind of content. I think they got the right balance with a moderately challenging boss (marionette) Vs elite (wurm) this time and would expect future releases to have such balance going forward.

They test the heck out of everything for at least a month or two before release. You just don’t hear about it because all the testers are bound by non-disclosure agreements.

And like Wanze said, the high difficulty is intended.

Even the lowest population servers can easily fill up a single instance of the map with a little organization, and that’s all you need to start making attempts and learning the mechanics. All that the higher-pop servers get is an increased chance of fragmenting into a half-dozen overflows.

I should be writing.
