Being a supporter of Anet’s Outfit skins and RNG system, I had the craziest idea for new content. What if Anet introduced some outfits that a chance to drop exclusively from PvE chests? We already have this by way of unique skins, such as Tequatl weapons, Wurm armor, and the retired Jetpack skin. The next step to this could be adding full outfits instead of just armor pieces.

I love outfits, because they’re not limited by armor weight class. My female charr Ranger is able to wear a super sexy light armor inspired Exemplar outfit. My human female Warrior can wear epic medium armor inspired Shadow Assassin outfit. Anet should consider bringing out more Outfits, such as a cheerleader type or Japanese school seifuku type, because variety is king.

On an economic note, such drops shouldn’t be lock by Account Bound limits. Allow them to be sold on the TP, so those who don’t like RNG can have the guaranteed* chance to get them buy purchasing from other players (*should they have the Gold available). Doing this gives the item value, thus making them more attractive to own or trade.

Sounds interesting but I have a concern with the “exclusively from PvE chests”. PvP and WvW should have access to it too.

PvP has a similar reward already in place – the Glorious Armor, although these are pieces, and not Outfits. WvW has nothing. If anything, PvE and WvW getting a unique Outfit drop in each game mode would be nice. That way, each game mode offers a unique look for those choose to farm it.

Interesting idea. I can stand behind content like this.

However, I have to say that any rewards tied to RNG can be frustrating to some while being vastly more rewarding to others. RNG is always going to be imbalanced because it relies solely on unpredictability. I would love to regale you with my stories about the ever-elusive Carapace Coat, but it is rather tedious and is best saved for another time.

Perhaps instead of random drops from reward chests, these special outfits could be obtained through a more guaranteed means? Things such as completing a long list of achievements, or earning points on a reward track (similar to how we acquire titles and PvP armor skins). That way players won’t have to deal with the annoying RNG system, while still being adequately rewarded for their dedication and hard work.

Yes pls I want to see my Charr in a sailor uniform (along with my asian-looking human loli) throws money at screen.

No we don’t care about immersion, GW2 had next to no immersion anyways, so go give us sailor outfits (or blazers, I don’t mind either).

While i support the RNG outfit idea, I won;t mind paying for japanese uniforms.

I think there’s more than enough RNG in this game already.

It’s pretty easy to see.

Agenda: Con even more RNG cosmetics (like Black Lion skins) into the game so he can sell them on the trading post.

Where outfits should be rewarded via PvE gameplay is Collections. While it’s not quite the same, I was surprised that I got an outfit during Halloween by paying candy corn.

They could even have a highly coveted Beach Outfit that trades for karka shells or passiflora. Because no one uses passiflora or karka-anything, except for murdering Karka Queen on rotation.

Nope—I already am frustrated with the RNG giving me 100% of nothing. So it would just more stuff I would never get.

I’m guessing that most players would just be annoyed by even more RNG in a game that is already drowning in it.
