Hello fellow Gamers and ArenaNet. I apologize for my bad vocabulary and grammar on forehand (I’m danish).

I have played Guild Wars 1 since it came out, and I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since the Beta. I really adore the game, and there really ain’t much i would see different except one thing!

Threw my experience with GW2 I’ve grown really tired of my choosing in variety on how I want to build my character. The trait trees works fine and the utility slots works perfectly. However I can’t make my self feel happy about the game anymore. Sorry, but I find it pretty dull.. Let me explain as a case threw my main character and build:

I LOVE playing on my guardian.. I’ve putted a lot of time into my little Asura and I just won’t play anything else really. However (as said earlier) I miss the variety and the experimental part that GW1 allowed! I know the trait tree combined with weapons and utilities lets you experiment.. But not enough. I really love smashing skulls on my enemies with my Mace and on the same time beeing supportive to my mates with my Mace and Shield. I do ofc also love my greatsword.. Therefore, as a loyal player with a lot of experience in your game, I’ll give a suggestion of what I think would be FREAKIN’ COOL. As weapons (most of the time) only gives you 1 kind of certain skills, there really ain’t much variation in your play style (if you for example loves playing with Mace and Shield). Therefore I believe that if you, as a player, had the opportunity to choose from different skills with each slot on your weapon, you would get a more “this is mine character kinda feeling”. And I don’t mean in only PVE but also PVP and WvW! You will might not be forced to go for a kinda defensive just because you love doing the Mace! Let me explain my idea from an example: You are wielding your Mace and Shield (now, you are a Guardian!), and you will be given a standard set of skills (the current ones). Now, you heal on your third strike with skill “1”. But by going into your Hero Panel you can change your skill, to 2 different kinda skills. One of the skills could be the third attack gives bonus attack speed" or “the third attack applies burn” or you could chose the current “third attack heals you and allies”. In this way you could get access to build damage with the weapons you love, and not beeing forced to go GREATSWORD (cause thats the best way to give damage on every character – and you know it!). You know every spell could have the same “basic” effect as “the third attack does something” or on spell 2 “apply some kind of symbol”, but they actually does something else instead of, in this case, HEAL!

I’m by the way annoyed that i cant fight with my mace in PvP or WvW, since it’s against the META..

Anyway, I don’t know how to explain this in a better way. I really hope this could be something to happen.. I don’t believe that I’m the only one who grows dull in the game’s skill system.

Best Regards
- a Loyal Guild Wars Gamer

Guardians are getting a new weapon with the expansion pack. At least one, I’m not sure if more will follow. Your suggestion is cool, but I think that would be very hard to balance. Hopefully whatever new skills guardian gets will be cool!

You can fight with your mace anywhere you want to. When I play guard in PvP, I use mace sometimes because it’s fun. Your build doesn’t have to be meta to be good, or fun to play.

Also, I don’t know how long you’ve been playing your guardian for, but if you’re getting bored with him, try a new class. There’s 7 others out there for you to experiment with, and they all work a little differently. You could also try a different race to experience a new storyline, or stick with the asura and try a different combination.

And like Elegy said, use whatever traits and weapons you want in PvP. The only way the meta changes is if someone finds a new and creative way to use what is already in the game.
