Ideas for extra weaponry and class choices
Scythes : Wuh-Duh , of course. We all want it but won’t admit it. Now, I know there are different skins for staves that sort of resemble them, but why not have them imported to this new weapon , WITH MORE SKINS ALSO! Scythes were popular in GW1 , so I don’t know why not.
Necromancer: This is painfully obvious. I know the reaper does something similar with the shroud but , as cool as it is , it is simply not what we asked for. It could prove to be the mobile and fast paced condi melee weapon the necros need! CRIPPLES , POISONS AND PULLS FOR DAYS!!!!!!!!!
Warrior : Dervishes are gone. End of story. But Warriors with scythes could be JUST as cool. Channeling their inner animes , warriors would use leaps and even shadowsteps , and would naturally deal more damage to weaker enemies (health-wise) as either a trait or ability. I’d imagine they’d have something like the rev’s sword 5.
Rangers : Alongside thieves , rangers would be the class that people would think should have good stealth. Sure, the bow does but that’s about it. This could be what sword should have been. Fast , annoying, and with added stealth bonuses. Maybe they could even get a backstab-like move.
The Meditation Candle:Yes , really.
A powerful two-handed magic weapon that slows the user down when they draw it, moving only slightly faster than walking. On the upside though : PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!!!! Using focus and enlightenment, you could blast your foes with all sort of stuff.
Necromancer : Enter a totally new mechanic! THE POSSESSION SYSTEM! The longer the Necro is in battle the more stressed they are and are more likely to be possessed by a dark spirit. This would change the glyph-like abilities that would come with the weapon into monstrous and creepy blasts of energy , all whilst your character is spewing out crazy talk , because a ghost is in them.
Revenants : Iunno, just make them like the Ritualist? I’m no expert on Ritualists but I suppose they are similar to revs. The main two ideas of people I found for the Ritualist to make Legends were Aeson or maybe Headmaster Quin, as she taught the profession , and having someone in your head correcting you all the time would be amusing.
Mesmers : Using channeled Mantra like abilities to cause AOE mayhem! (Maaaaaaaaaaayhem….)
This would be a back line weapon for conditions. I know staff does something like it but that is simply not reliable enough for my personal taste. I think Torment and confusion could be a good choice, along with a daze or two.
Vigors : Punching physical god the death , YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
So this would be martial arts as a weapon. Punches and kicks. Visually these ‘’Vigors’’ could show as aura surrounding the hands of the user. Although these may be the only weapon in the game you can hide.
Elementalist: These idiots in true melee? Sure , why not?
We all know I was thinking of the Falcon punch with this . Power eles are common but awesome and flaming punches would make it even cooler. Air would be the only way to use ranged attacks , with lightning shocks ( ala Darth Sidious). Earth could make walls and destroy obstacles and projectiles. Water would be focused on debuffs.
Rangers : A melee condi weapon. Using their hands and nails like claws to inflict large amounts to bleeds , with a leap here or there. Using innate savagery to go nuts and rend thine foes to pieces , like an animal.
Guardians : Justice is an iron fist!
Using their magic they could stun, pull , and throw heathens. I like the idea of them shooting out energy fists at a rapid pace for their 3 maybe.
Note : Warriors and thieves were not mentioned on purpose
Glaive : Because spears are aquatic, for some reason.
Revenants : Spinning like a tornado and cutting scars into reality that destroy projectiles and combo fields. All in a day’s work for revs. Maybe have a charge attack were they summon spectral soldiers to charge as well, as a knockback. Not too sure who to pick for this. Maybe Dehjiah for Legendary Djinn Stance?
Elementalist : This would focus on the less notable traits of the elements. Fire being purely based on actual heat. Earth using magnetism , Air using Wind and Water using icy blades. Mostly CC based.
Engineers : Engis would transform their glaives into shock-sticks to stun and slow. Using slow but disrupting attacks they can lock-down an enemy until allies come to help. Maybe also use anti-grav tech to toss opponents away from the engineer.
Tomes : Books on cool stuff , used to help one learn and focus in battle. Books can be cool. Seriously , guys. ….pls……
Mesmers : Using books of lore and intrigue to ….., erm …….I may need help with this one.
Necromancers : I do enjoy the Cthulhu Mythos , and we all know what cool eldritch book I am thinking off. This would be a confusion based condi weapon with some cool and spooky abilities. Number 5 : NECRONOMICON!! The necromancer unleashes invisible monsters on the enemy, pulling them into the caster and continuously blinding and confusing them whilst also dealing torment!
Engineers : An odd one. Rather than using magic , engineers use a book of military notes to order allies around and to hide weapons for emergencies. ‘’Orders’’ could be boon based support abilities that tell allies what to do and reward them for doing it. To defend themselves engis could hide a land mine or two in the book, and maybe a force field generator.
Flail : A weapon only to be wielded by the brave. It’s like a mace , but on a kitten chain.
Warrior : AOE BASIC ATTACKS AND RANGED STUNS FOR DAYS!!!!! The adrenaline attack could be a channeling spin that knocks back repeatedly.
Guardian : It could have a block and a blast finisher that blinds and burns maybe. Not tons to say otherwise.
I wasn’t sure what to put last here , so I want you guys to elaborate your thoughts. Opinions and concepts are nice.
Whips : Like flails but noisier and lighter. Maybe one handed.
Ranger: I saw this somewhere once. It used pulls and fears, and was more based around making you annoying as possible. Maybe it can help buff the pet as well.
Thieves : To strangle , to garotte and to slice open wounds. These thieves could increase cooldowns with sneak attacks , use fears and deal more damaged to the weakened.
Guardians : Condi weapon. Using flaming chains to apply torment and burns which stack in intensity on foes with lots of boons and few conditions. Something that would be VERY useful in WvW against enemy Heralds.
Punish the guilty!
Javelins :Throwing spears made to debuff and cripple people as much as possible.
Guardians : Just copy paste the underwater spears for guardians and you are basically grand.
Thieves : Using these to punish foes who aren’t paying attention and bleeding ones that are under CC. Possible using blinds and leaps as well. Sneak attack might be an immobilize
Revenants : Channel Pyre Fierceshot to deal tons of blinds and burning to his foes. Revs don’t have a lot of condi options and I know Pyre used a bow , but this is cooler!
FALCHION: All ‘’heroes’’ want to be the guys with one handed swords. Unfortunately you must always have two in this game or a Greatsword due to one being nearly redundant alone. That is where the Falchion comes in! By all technicalities it is a two handed weapon but these single-edged blades would look as if they were being used in one hand. The theme here would be all types would have a move that would help with foes on lower health , those it could still be a bit more diverse in how it does it. I got this idea from of Rytlock fights and thought Sohothin could make a cool Falchion.
Warrior: A warrior would use these are power weapon rather than the condi of normal swords.
Warrior could try use their free hand to punch people away or even weaken them with a chop to the throat. A few spinning attacks could suit. I think , to be awesome , that their ‘’Execution Attack’’ should be a dash that leaves them behind their target a short distance afterward. Whilst it could be impractical to do , Rule of Cool applies here.
Revenants : For some reason a few people I know associate Revenants with Cantha and mostly use Eastern themes. This is likely because of Shiro being awesome to use.
Now , I am not certain who to use for this , for a Legend , but I know what I want it to be like.
This could be based around dashes and being faster than the enemy to catch them as they run away. This could be a Bleed based weapon mostly , with maybe a vulnerability here or there. Instead of being health-dependant I think that their ‘’Execution Attack’’ could be based on how many conditions the foes has for damage.
Elementalist : This is mostly because some many people wanted Tempests to use swords and some were properly disappointed by the Warhorn. I personally, didn’t care too much.
FIRE : Based around throwing the sword and having it come back , whilst wreathed in flames. WATER : using the sword as a focus for mist based magic for boons and condi removal. EARTH : Based around protection , but on allies rather than one’s self . AIR : this is where the ‘’Execution Attack’’ would be. It could be the Ele summoning a storm and having one single bolt of 1000 GIGAWATTS roast the low health opponent.
CROSSBOW: Look , I know we have rifles and longbows , but they both don’t feel very ‘’Slow yet strong ‘’ to me. Which is why this is here. And just to say that my second reason is simply : Crossbows. Are. Awesome.
Engineer : BOOM!
This would be all based on exploding bolts and would work nicely with Explosives rather than Firearms. Maybe have an cripple and a burn for good measure , as well as a AOE knockback. It may be primitive but at least Engis could customize their ammo , unlike bullets. I guess.
Thief : This could be their sniping weapon rather than what rifle WOULD be for them. It could have a smoke grenade arrow , a sky barrage , and a Kill Shot – like stealth ability. Maybe even a knockdown and a immobilize for good measure.
Guardian : This is odd. Rather than be it’s own weapons I was more considering this be…….a replacement (?) for the Longbow for Dragonhunters. I know Dragonhunter is supposed to be a ‘’Witch Hunter’’ tribute and they used crossbows. I see where Anet were going with their Longbow idea , but it really does suit more , or for my mindset at least. I’d like to hear thoughts here.
LANTERNS : Think : a more mobile and defensive torch. It was just a thought , maybe have then be more supportive even? I say this would be Off-hand mostly , but y’know , someone might use it main hand
Guardian : I liked to imagine Guards have a move similar to Infiltrator’s Strike for thieves but maybe burning and removing conditions as well. Maybe have another teleport that could reveal people caught in the area.
Necromancer : Look up ‘’Thresh’’ from League of Legends. Literally that. It could be a type of phylactery for the Necromancer.
Engineer: It could be an Off-hand that could use an Oil splash that can cripple and poison. And you could combo this with a fire ability afterward that could blind and burn , whilst also making an explosion.
I may have simply made a better pistol Off-hand.
HALBERD : A lethal defense weapon that may not do tons of damage overall but could deal some good AOE , and maybe involve some good counter attacks. It’s be a battleaxe really but easier to differentiate from the regular Axe for the name.
Necromancer : It could be similar to the Greatsword but may be more mobile , and with less conditions but could reap a fair amount of Life Force. Maybe have a ‘’slow dash’’ that could have them swinging it whilst moving, this might also break immobilization maybe. It could also have a leap that could generate Life force and blind whomever is nearby at the impact.
Warrior : This could be more of a ‘’Protect my Allies’’ weapon. Maybe have a built in protection and whirl finisher for combos. This could have leap with a blast finisher maybe and the Burst Skill could push people away , for longer distances t more adrenaline.
Ranger : This would use the ‘’Axe side’’ of the Halberd parentage , with the unique gimmick of dealing more damage as long has the enemy has MORE health. It could use the imagery of a Oakheart or maybe simply a person cutting down a tree. Maybe the spec could allow rangers to use Plant-based Pets that are yet to be added, other than Sylvan Hounds.
WIND AND FIRE WHEELS/ CHAKRAM : These weapons in particular could be based around ferocity and critical hits. It’d be mid ranged based , possibly with some sort of deflection. Mostly based on how Rangers use Axes.
Revenants: The basic attack could work like Vapour Blade , but could give ferocity on the way back. Maybe use the Mists to put down Light and Dark Fields and have a whirl finisher there somewhere. Maybe the attack could be a Physical Projectile.
Mesmer : This could be a Condi weapon. The thrown blades could confuse the foe with the spins and maybe have a Whirl that could allow the Mesmer to turn invisible and escape if they hit a foe. Mayhaps have Phantasmal Discus , a illusion that could slow and apply bleed.
They could look like Jugglers!
Thief : Maybe have some inbuilt avoids and some poison based attacks. It could maybe put the thief into a ‘Martial Rage’’ that could pile on the ferocity stat.
CLAWS: Know, I know you would think ‘’Like Wolverine’’ but I think it could work as a sort of ‘’Gauntlet with sharp fingers’’ instead , as ‘’Vigors’’ kinda do the primal punchy sort of thing.
Engineers: It could be a ranged weapon for them , working more like a laser in a gauntlet rather than a claw. It could apply a good few conditions , focusing on burning and maybe have an attack that hurts with more conditions , like the Necro Scepter.
Thief : Poisoned attacks. Lots of ‘em. Not sure what else to put here to make it different than dagger though.
Mesmer : Maybe rather than Illusions based on the character , have them based on Wolves and Tigers maybe , with Phantasmal Predator and Phantasmal Stalker. The wolf could follow the target and deal cripple , whilst the Tiger could stealth and fear when it appears. I thought of this because ‘’What do claws inspire?’’ Fear , because of spooky werewolves and Tigers
