Have looked throughout the forums but hard to find the topic on in game ideas or suggestions.
This was just a thought but I was wondering if we could honor Police, Fire, EMS, Military players with a special tag after their names like the anet employees have. Something small but appreciative like a badge or helmet or something to follow there names, Not sure how we could show proof of their service but I think it would be a nice show of support for those members that do play.

While I value our emergency personnel and service members, I don’t think this will be a very popular suggestion with many. People from all over the world play and may have varying opinions, especially regarding military members. Also as you stated it would be pretty much impossible for Anet to verify if the person is truly a member of one of those groups. I don’t think Anet will really want to review official identification of each person. So what you would end up with is a tons of people saying, “Hey yeah I’m a police officer give me my shiny icon,” when indeed they are not.

If you are interested perhaps you could organize a player driven in game appreciation event much like other groups have done. As a veteran I’d be interested in participating.

Firstly there isn’t a single topic, or section, for suggestions. We’re supposed to post suggestions as individual topics with clear titles in the section of the forum they relate to, so the right Anet staff can find them.

Secondly how do you envisage these tags working? Would there be one for everyone in a particular service, or would it be divided by country?

I’d definitely recommend the second one because the Anet tags are part of their guild name, meaning they have to all join and represent the same guild for them to show up. And if you’ve got military personnel from all over the world joining the same guild you run the risk of people who fought (or are currently fighting) on opposing sides in a conflict being in the same guild. And then whatever poor sap got roped into being guild leader (which would not be Anet staff I hope, that would be a huge waste of their time) has to try and moderate that.

Unless of course you only intended this to apply to Americans, which would be extremely controversial in an international game.
