Hello Anet!

I tried the search function and came up negative so I don’t know if this has been asked already.

Currently, all of the “original” Ascended back items (books and quivers) seem to have the same models, one for quivers and one for books. All the quivers use and will unlock the same wardrobe entry (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quiver), but several of the books (Koss on Koss, Book of Secrets, etc.) have their own spot in the wardrobe despite looking exactly like each of the others.

Would it be possible to either get all 5 or so book items united in the wardrobe under a generic term (e.g., “Tome”)? Or, unique skins for each book and quiver? The latter option would probably cause some headache for us collectors, but I really don’t want to unlock 5 very expensive wardrobe skins that all look identical.

When I first checked out back pieces I was looking forward to seeing what each book looked like due to their little icon pictures being different… Alas, they are all extremely boring, identical and quite misleading.

ANet should update them.

Not sure about uniting them, since there’s at least one achievement that requires identical books.

The only collection I’m aware that requires one is the Style Guide achievement (Koss on Koss), but even so collections often operate off of individual items that aren’t in the wardrobe at all so if there was a collection that required multiple ascended books it could probably be modified.

Actually, it was completing that achievement that made me think about this, since we’re able to use There with Yakkington: A Traveler’s Tale since it shares the “skin” with Koss on Koss, but none of the other identical books do.

Regardless, either way is totally acceptable to me, I would just like to see a change. The skins are really lackluster compared to other back skins now. I remember when they came out they were really cool since they were among the very first first visual back skins in the game (after the Mad Memories books and alongside the Fractal Capacitor), but now they pale in comparison to all the new ones with their animations and particle effects.

It is rather ridiculous that all the books are separate unlocks, yet share one skin. Would be nice if they either merged the skins or added alternate textures (preferably ones that match the icons) to each book.

I mean, really, who wouldn’t want a silvery book with Koss’ fro proudly stamped on its cover on their back?

They are likely different skins, because they were originally planned to really be different (just look at their icons). I guess someone at some point got lazy and just copied over the same skin for each book, without actually unifying them (as that would require more work).
