I do not think ascended armor and trinkets should have come out, exotic was just fine. I think ascended weapons should have been introduced as a teaser to get a legendary. The ascended weapons would have made the stats of legendary go up which is fine so people would have more of a reason for a legendary, rather than just skin purposes. I think the ascended weapons should have been consumables that can be rewarded from various places and activities with a 10hour limit until it fades away. But yea just wanted to get out my I thoughts.

I think that part of whatyou are saying goes against the principles Arenanet always had, while at the same time with ascended Arenanet is breaking those principles.

Arenanet has always avoided geargrinds to get better stats. You always could get max stats very easy and without a lot of trouble. What you are asking for is making the most difficult to obtain weapon (legendary) also have the better stats above anything else. There are plenty of games who do that but not Arenane…..ow wait, they are doing it with ascended gear anyways.

Anyways. despite that minor flaw, in general the better stats should be available for everyone. small and minor exceptions. Even in gw2, eventhough the basic stats where pretty easily available, for getting optimum stats you needed a superior rune of vigor wich was…pretty expensive.

In the end, ascended gear is only slightly better then exotic, and you are very fine to stick with exotic. No party should look bad at you, and if they do, they are elitst wannabe’s from who you want to stay far far away anyways.

But weapon boxes already do drop from various locations.

I have never seen an armadillo (in real life), does that mean armadillos are not real?

The weapons chests DO exist and they do drop quite frequently at higher leveled fractals for one.

I actually sort of like when something in a game is so rare, with so little documentation, that it’s still almost a matter of speculation where it comes from, or if it even drops anymore; it’s practically it’s own urban legend.

Feels like Crystallines in GW1 until they added the ZChest.

“Crystallines dont drop anymore!”
“Yes they do!”
“No!”
“I got one from SF!”
“Liar! It was nerfed!”
“They drop from FoW!”
“Liar! It was nerfed!”

And especially, the rarest ones in game. Req7-8 15>50. Those WERE legendary.

Ascended Weapons box do drop. I didn’t drop one myself. But 2 of my friend drop 2 boxes and one drop 3 boxes.
