I’ve seen people hyping over possible Tengu release, but, if Anet does release Tengu, would that mean they would have a completely different Personal Story not revolving around Zaihtan?

It is possible to simply release Tengu, but if they fit it in with part of the story (Living Story), then what would their PS be? Would Anet overhaul Personal stories as a whole (which they should btw because it is indeed quite messed up (the order of events, and missing info, etc.)

If Anet actually releases a new profession, and hopefully it’s Tengu, I really do hope we’ll get to see about what’s happened to Cantha and why they had to ’’flee’’ into Tyria and basically shut everyone out of their homefortress beyond the big gate..!

I guess they would create a new starter Personal Story for Tengu, like every race have their own story until a certain level, then it goes into the Order part and the hunt for Zhaitan. It wouldn’t fit into the story though, as the Tengu isolated themselves.

I’m convinced they’re home city would be in that empty space next to LA. I know Zoid, that’s what I was trying to figure it out.

I think they could make it so that the tengu get their racials personal story up to level 20?like the other races. They could have dragonminions attacking the dominion (either mordrem or destroyer) and you would have to fight them off an convince your racial leader to turn to the world for help. After that you would join one of the three orders where you would have two choices:

1st: a member of your order tells you about the fall of zhaitan which would trigger you playing those events beginning with the typical order quests and proceeding with the old personal story
2nd: taking on mordremoth which would trigger the new story of the expansion

The only problems I see with that would be that ANet would have to record all the old dialogues with a new voice for the tengu character (male and female) as well as creating tengu animations fitting the old conversations. And the problem that you are only around level 20 when you join the order but the new story will probably level 80 content which would mean that you would have a gap of 60 levels. Of course you could have 6 missions for the order so you could have one mission every 10 levels after joining the order which would also benefit the other races if you create a new character, so that they could also choose between going after zhaitan or mordi.

The story could be about how you became one of the few Tengus to leave home and join the fight

I’m sorry Kortas, but that would just create even more continuity problems. Remember, the current LS is 2 years after the events of the PS.

I want to wait until we get more details about the expansion (e.g., if it’ll only be for level 80s) because that might affect how important a Personal Story would be for a new race. The main, important thing (besides killing Zhaitan) that the current PS accomplishes is it makes you the Commander of the Pact, and there’s plenty of level 80 content that references this. I don’t see how the expansion would not continue to do so (but again, that’d depend on if the content – at the very least, the story content – is only for level 80).

Exactly my point. I’m trying to figure out how they could logically fit it in, because, from my viewpoint, Tengu is NOT happening, unless they do it something like, Tengu can only be made once you have a lvl 80, and finished PS, OR, Tengu doesn’t have a PS, OR Tengu’s PS ends with the LS that introduces them. However, even with these, the problem still persists that they won’t be the pact commander anymore, which is what everyone refers to the character as.

One of the major challenges with adding additional races, is that most of personal story / living world has a big focus around the current five major races of tyria. The tengu for example, would feel very left out of that focus. I mean just look at Destinys Edge (used to be one member from each current race), the Pact (alliance between each current race), the Living World “friend-squad”. The whole of GW2 current story is based upon the five playable races we have right now. And to remake everything to fit in with the new race would cost too much resources, so my biggest guess is that if we will see a new race in HoT, it will not affect the content made so far, but rather have its own, smaller introduction story and then be tied right into the HoT story from the point where we currently are right now.
So if you followed my arguments so far, there is NO way to add another race to the tyria campaign, as basically all story content so far (PS, LS1 and LW2) do tie in to HoT in one way or another, meaning that if you bypass those three, HoT will make no sence at all, except if they do adapt PS, LS1 and LW2 to fit the tengu and make them a part of those stories too, which as stated is impossible, as it would upset the current players who would go like “hey back in the days there were no tengus in my story”.

This I had to address, and it’s sad that it’s for someone who claims to have 64 characters. TENGU IS NOT A PROFESSION, IT IS A RACE FOR GODS SAKE. You’d think people would stop making that abysmal mistake.

As for the personal story, yea, it’d have to be completely separate from the existing races’ PS, and yet still tie into why this race is coming forward.
