Definetly nope. This is a game rated 12+. And also China and other countries got a huge problem with same sex marriages and romances. So this would inevitably lead to conflicts within these countries, especially on the asian market. And if Anet implements this without gay or bi marriages and romances it would kitten off a large group of the more liberal playerbase.

Well, I think it would be fairly easy to implement it both ways; one is a strict subset of the other.

That said, this is a terrible idea, and GW2 is very much not the game for that.

I enjoyed the whole marriage system in Ragnarok Online, where marriage would give your characters special romantic skills. It was cute. I’m not one for having an in-game squeeze myself though.

Honestly, I’ve always wanted the ability to make my characters’ own NPC romantic lead (with the same character creation system) or to choose one of my other characters to be their canon romance.

I have a strange relationship with both the Asura and Norn. I occasionally find them downright hilarious, but they’re usually intolerable, and I find their anatomy to be just plain hideous to look at.

. . . no, I’m not going to explain that. Shall we just say if you ever are asked to volunteer for an experiment, you should not just run away. . . you should WP away with all due haste.

But, in all seriousness, my main issue with the Norn and Sylvari is that they have taken the place of better options for a playable race (and ones with more history with the series, at that). Tengu. Forgotten. Mursaat. Centaurs. Hell, even Hylek would have been more interesting and well-founded.

I had enough frogs in Lower Guk and Old Sebilis to last me forever, thanks. The mursaat do not play well with others. The tengu are busy killing anyone trying to get into their territory, and the Forgotten . . . I think they’re gone after Glint died.

And, well, no to the centaurs. I don’t even want to think about them as playable.That sounds like a nightmare of armor design.

Please implement this with Trahearne as the only eligible NPC.

Having seen some of the most horrific things done in Divinitys Reach fairly recently I’d say the player base even if it had such a thing is by far…far…far away from being able to ‘responsibly’ use such a thing even if it was available.

Balance where balance is due, I do think we should be able to sit on a chair, hug & play with out pets, smell gem shop opportunity arenanet… you can put pet toys in and a chair so you can sit anywhere, different styles deck chairs and so on..

Gw 2 is rated for age 12+. Sims 4 is rated for 12 too… and it is all about relationships! Love relations (and all that lovers do), friend relations, family relations… I Think a 12 year old can handle relations if its presented in a good (non disgusting) and proper way.
In GW2 it could be emotes like blow kisses etc..

A romance element could be a nice idea, although to properly do it would require a lot of work (primarily in terms of content unless you want it to be as deep as say Fables romance… which isn’t very deep).

Personally thought Jaheira had a better romance path, but I’d be happy with Viconia. On a more serious note, though the idea would require a TON of man hours away from other things. As much as I like the idea, I’d prefer a Canthan expansion pack.

My Asura warrior actually favors Norn and some Charr females because of their size. Don’t underestimate the cuteness.

I’m aggravated with swtor because I can’t have my female sith in a relationship with her female twilek companion. They have such good chemistry together! I think I’ll wait until they make some changes to their system before playing anymore.

I would have way too much fun with such a system. My female human ranger needs a charr to have feelings for. Sort of makes sense, her being able to commune with animals and all.

The OP’s idea sounds far tamer than anything you’d witness in various RP circles. I envision it just being your character growing closer to a specific NPC and then options to flirt with it capping at said NPC confessing their feelings for you/the reverse and then moving into your home instance. Would be cool if you also get an item that summons your love to fight along side you and/or sell junk to along with a bit of spicy banter :P

You need to think bigger.

Not just love stories but rivalries, friendships, betrayal, and a lot more with NPCs. Get the characters really connected to the world. Maybe have a create your own rival, love, etc option. Just like how you created your characters.

Why have marriages?

they could actually add the ability to marry or note other players as family members complete with marriage ceremonies, effects, items, etc. That would be a fun addition. Personally as an LGBT player I’d like to see a personal story about Caithe and Faolain. If we’re saying this game is progressive let’s really make the game progressive.

The Chinese and American game clients have their own separate servers and content. Have you seen their gem store? It’s a different ballpark there. There is nothing stopping the content from being added to the other versions of the game and ignoring the Chinese version until they figure it out. Arenanet has taken a liberal stance on homosexuality, if you haven’t noticed with Caithe+Faolain, the gay sylvari in Green Knight personal story and again with Kaz+Maj. As long as they don’t get into the sexual details, I really don’t care about a useless marriage status.
