If your town was wrecked, and the danger was past, would you go back and fix it up? Or would you spend the rest of your days in a tent outside?

No wonder it took so long for the Lion statue to get fixed after King Thorn had his way with it. Everyone in LA is an adventurer. Nobody is a carpenter.

  • Step one: Put out the fires. I’m tired of all the soot and ash and ugly skies.
  • Step two: Clear the rubble and fill in the holes.
  • Step three: Rebuild! There is a TON of ready-to-use building material scattered all over Lion’s Arch and Kessex Hills.

If it isn’t finished by Wintersday, might I suggest Tixx and his toys perform a little Wintersday magic?

But for goodness sake, at least START!

I always try to fix and repair things in WvW. Call me weird, but that is something I have always done in mmos.

There’s a couple heart missions in PvE where you’re supposed to fend off the attackers and/or put out fires and fix up buildings…..I am always the one repairing and putting out fires during that heart mission…..lol.

Would be kind of cool if when it came time to rebuild LA, the game would give the players a chance to help with that. I think you might be surprised at how many would try to help rebuild that place.

There are Worker NPCs in there, some of them busily hammering away where the portals are going to be. Were you looking for salvage boats, cranes, Charr steamdozers? It might be nice if there was a bit more but there is something going on.

I’d like to repair stuff as well and I’m sure other players may also. Is that where you’re going with this?

(Hmmm, partial ninja credit to Teon for me being slow.)

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

I think people are hoping to see a brand new LA, as opposed to the nautical themed ‘shanty town’ that existed before, so remaking the city from the bits of the old (that weren’t burnt or blasted to bits) would be the equivalent of tearing down a porta-cabin…and replacing it with a shed.

Ya know, I think this is one of the better ideas I have seen mentioned on the forums. There is already a system in place in WvW for improving build/repair/supply skills. Why not transfer a portion of that to PvE in the case of Lion’s Arch? Make it so that as players repair and rebuild, that they get better at it. You could give xp for it, just like in WvW, and you could make it possible to have supply points, that increased in supply as players tore down destroyed buildings, salvaged wood and such, etc.

Would it work? I don’t know…..but I sure like the idea…..I think a lot of the players would come out and help rebuild Lion’s Arch.

Of course, the new design of the place would be up to Anet, but the players could help rebuild that new design.

Fantastic suggestion. I too am tired of a blasted and destroyed LA. Especially since I was busy with real-world events for a couple of months, so I didn’t even see it get destroyed.

I expect LA to be reconstructed in the near future, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Anet simply said, “here you go!” and it was fixed. I really like the idea of the players “contributing” to the reconstruction, however artificially.

I would MUCH rather work towards rebuilding LA than run past a beggar looking for donations like we did with the Lion Statue. The next Living Story or so would be a great opportunity. In “Scarlet Destroys LA Part 1”, we got better bonuses for getting more people to safety. In “Rebuilding LA part 1”, we could rebuild the place FASTER if more people help out.

Maybe sorta like the Election? The more we do, the more “Rebuilding Tokens” we earn. The more that are turned in, the faster the town gets cleaned up.

I really hopes Anet reads this……some really great ideas, imo.

Yeah throw in some sandbox and let people really help rebuild.. Not just some boring events and a fake timer that shows the progress on the town.

However, mega-servers might make this a problem because when done correctly you could end up with different new LA’s and then the question is in what server you are working.

There are some NPC’s working but there have been NPC’s working in LA forever. That is also a little funny. They have been building new portals in LA for 2 years (already there at beta) and they are still not finished but the portals in the refugee place where build in a week or so.

Do it soon, please. Was trying to adventure in gendarran fields and it was like MegaServer doesn’t even exist with everyone afking by the Mystic forge. Will just go back once this char hits 80 and can easily handle everything alone, but it was disappointing.

I hope that Lion’s Arch is eventually rebuilt. I think it’d be neat of ArenaNet to implement an event where players can help rebuild it (if they actually do plan to rebuild it to some state of its former glory).

LA needs to be rebuilt, but without simply reverting it to its previous state via easy way.
Things and tyria has changed, so lion’s arch must be changed too. They have to build it
with a different style, different buildings. So we can call it the new lions arch.

Good point. But you know what, the Captain’s Council are really kittttteningly greedy.
