daily i see around 200-1000 around me..and i dont play the big meta events all play….i prefer soloplay xP

All you will get here are opinions – nothing more than opinions.
Only ANet has the numbers of how many log on each day, of how many play on each map, how many do the raids, how many bought HoT, and how many play on those maps. All anyone else can do is give their opinions about the numbers and stuff.

They made these numbers public back when they were something to brag about, so that’s one clue…

To my knowledge, and I am probably wrong on this. They only ever made the numbers public knowledge once. And since then only vague references, and people fighting over the meaning of quarterly earning reports.

What does it matter? If you enjoy the game and have friends to play with and the game is not dieing , then does it matter if every gamer plays it or not?

A few months ago, SuperData Research estimated the active monthly population to be at 3.1 million.

Based on the Q4 sales, somewhere between 200-300k copies of HoT have been sold. Assuming half of these players have quit by now or just log in for dailies, there’s 100-150k active players with HoT. Since 80% of players I see everywhere have HoT, then there’s 20% that don’t have HoT. Now, Let’s be generous and assume there’s 150k HoT players and 150k non-HoT players. Let’s be generous again and everyone plays 3 hours per day on average. that’s 300k/8. That’s 37.500 concurrent players on average. By comparison, 470k concurrent players was the peak and that was near the launch.

Because he may or may not be deciding to invest money in support of the game, and nobody wants to do that just for the game to shut down or completely change design direction to pay the bills, or worst of all, for the game to go pay to win.

Plenty enough to do a raid.

Not enough to do a dungeon.

The industry standard for measuring the strength of a game is “concurrency” — how many accounts are online at any given time, a number that of course varies throughout the day, week, and month. ANet has only mentioned that number a handful of times in their history as a company.

One of the advantages GW2 has over some other games is that there’s no subscription. So people can also come & go as they please. People might be bored after 3.5 years of playing, take a six month break, and return, whereas for other MMOs, you’d have to cancel and reestablish your subscription. That makes it harder to compare the health of one game to another.

Theres no way for us to know any exact number. But this data is all we have recently for player numbers directly and it gives us the best estimate regardless of opinions based on this number. That being said we know at most 3 million people play the game monthly but accounting for multiple accounts and ‘once a monthers/gold sellers’ the most likely number of unique players on the game at least casually is probably not terribly far from that number. Ide throw a rough guess at 2 to 2.5 million people play the game at least casually.
